the stain Posted 9 May, 2010 Posted 9 May, 2010 New album by Walls, which is really nice. And some cracking King Tubby dubs. If you don't like King Tubby then you're a stupid cunnt, and that's the truth.
SuperMikey Posted 9 May, 2010 Posted 9 May, 2010 New album by Walls, which is really nice. And some cracking King Tubby dubs. If you don't like King Tubby then you're a stupid cunnt, and that's the truth. King Tubby is f*cking sick, i'm properly into dub at the moment, getting ready for the summer. I've got Prince Jammy's album 'Destroys The Space Invaders' on almost constant repeat at the moment, it's amazing. Anyone you'd recommend that I haven't heard of?
hamster Posted 10 May, 2010 Posted 10 May, 2010 Here's one for you: I'll not say who it is but give it a listen and whilst listening have a think about how far we have supposedly come. This music, like punk and rock n roll, is from the hearty of people who are ****ed off with politicians, royalty rulemakers in general and the like. Well, I like it. Actually, it almost brought a tear to my eye ('almost' I said).
Julian H. Cope Posted 10 May, 2010 Author Posted 10 May, 2010 I'm on an early 90's tip at the moment. Kingmaker - Eat Yourself Whole. New Fast Automatic Daffodils - Body Exit Mind. (One of my all time favourites) The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen.
St Landrew Posted 10 May, 2010 Posted 10 May, 2010 (edited) Here's one for you: I'll not say who it is but give it a listen and whilst listening have a think about how far we have supposedly come. Actually, it almost brought a tear to my eye ('almost' I said). Nice call hamster. F**k me, Billy didn't mince words did he..? So refreshing to hear that nowadays, when attitudes have hardly progressed a single iota. I have a Billy Bragg album around somewhere. I'll dig it out, or go Youtubing. EDIT: Off my album - It Says Here Edited 10 May, 2010 by St Landrew

Hamilton Saint Posted 14 May, 2010 Posted 14 May, 2010 (edited) The Blanton-Webster Band by Duke Ellington and His Orchestra. This is a superb 3-CD collection (66 tracks, in all) of remastered material recorded between 1940 and 1942. Actually, it's all the stuff he recorded during those years - for RCA Victor. Lots of familar pieces of Ellingtonia, which he would continue to record many times throughout the rest of his career. This is reputed to be the peak of Ellington's work. It features, amongst many other excellent musicians, the key figures of Jimmy Blanton on bass and Ben Webster on tenor sax - hence the name of the album. If you like Ellington, or swing jazz, this one is a must. Edited 14 May, 2010 by Hamilton Saint
