Beach House - Teen Dream

This is excellent, the Wiltshire Saint. May I commend you on your fabulous taste? I am listening to The Len Price 3 on Myspace,a pastiche of a Kinksy sixties band.

Nice selection of listens, Wiltshire Saint. A perfect lazy Sunday line-up.

This is the general consensus from a lot of music publications. I've not heard much Midlake but some love it but some have slated it. I might obtain it and give it a go. I am looking forward to Shearwater's new album this year. I think you may like it judging from your recent listens.

I'm listening to The Big Pink's album at the moment, getting ready to see them next weekend. Shamefully excited!

I shall look into Shearwater. Thanks for the tip. I love Midlake, but they can be a bit hit and miss. Van Occupanther is a majestic album. I love it. There acoustic versions of Roscoe and It covers the hillsides on the Oak & Julian EP which are incredibly beautiful.

Thank you Depps. I'm only listening to them because you said you were listening to them the other day. You are my unofficial leader. I miss you.

Today:

Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest

Girls - Album

The Who are the HT act in the Super Bowl, and they are so under rehearsed it's painful. Daltrey can barely hit the high notes, and Townsend can't occompany him in voice, and can barely play the right notes in time.

I'd rather see La Toya's boobs.

Nowhere.

Going Blank Again.

Carnival Of Light.

I wouldn't recommend their last studio album Tarantula though, it's not that good IMO. You can always try it out on Spotify to see if you agree.

At the moment I am listening to The Justin Warfield Supernaut.

Cheers, I'll check them out.

Yes!

Yes!

Weird double post!

Yes!

Yo!

Been playing...

Zack de La Rocha & DJ Shadow - March Of Death

Zack De La Rocha & Trent Reznor - We Want It All

Zack De La Rocha & Saul Williams - Act III Scene 2

Zach De La Rocha & Roni Size - Centre Of The Storm

Zach De La Rocha & KRS One - CIA (Criminals In Action)

...and lamenting the fact that he is yet to put out a solo album, bearing in mind he has apparently recorded at least 3 albums worth of tracks worth Shadow, Trent and El-P... and there are no leaks ffs.

I'm listening to that '21 seconds to go' tune from So Solid Crew; and replacing 'I with 'they', '21' with '9', and 'seconds' with 'days'.

Works for me.

I have also been listening to this, 'cos Copey is my radar.

I have always viewed our symbiotic relationship as a thing of beauty.

I am now listening to The Drums, who I am also going to see on Monday.

I bang on about this guy all the time, but he really is brilliant. Give this video a watch and you certainly won't regret it.

Good shout.

I'm a sucker for a well-formed lyric and an acoustic guitar.

As I was listening I was thinking of

and the bloke on the panel said he thought yer man was similar to DR.

BTW what accent has that DJ got - English, Australia, West Coast America? Very odd.

Hmm, very, very good indeed. Sounds like a cross between the late John Martyn and Nick Drake. And neither, if you get me.

About the DJ - his accent was throwing me completely. ;)

+1 on the Midlake album. Bought it on the strength of the Mojo review and hearing the first song, but the rest of it just sort of drifts by without really drawing me in. Was hoping it might be a grower but it's looking less and less likely..

Seeing them on Sunday. Will let you know how good they are.

A masive shuffle of all the Rancid songs, ever. most entertaining after a few weeks of nothing but beats and hip hop. Playing air guitar and slurring like a Nu Yoiker*

(*I realise they are from Cali)

Captain Beefheart - Safe as Milk. Amazing. I think i'm ready for Trout Mask Replica now, heard it a few years ago and didn't get it. I've done the ground work now.

Good shout for The Shins above, love oh inverted world. Need to download the rest of back catalogue.

An ex-landlord of mine used to put Trout Mask Replica on loud every Sunday morning forcing me out of my pit.

Re The Shins if you haven't already got it then Wincing the Night Away is pretty good but their earlier stuff is better IMO. Also if you like them then Band of Horses are worth a shout. Very similar to my ear.

He's not just a one trick pony either, he does some very good folk and blues material too. Got an album out called Postcards and Daydreaming which was released a few years ago and another one came out in January called Nice, Nice, Very Nice, but it has yet to make it over here to the UK commercially. Best you can find is on Amazon from Canadian and American sellers.

Definitely got a touch of those two about him, yet he does also have a very distinctive style of his own. And I hate that DJ's voice, it's incredibly grating and nasal. How the hell he ever got on the radio is certainly a big question...

Some more stuff if you liked him -

I'll have a listen later. At the moment I'm having a nostalgia trip with The Moody Blues - Seventh Sojourn.
