Where can an interested punter get hold of this broadcast?

i found it on soulseek, but i am a terrible person and would not encourage others to follow in my dastardly footsteps.

PM me if you have difficulties locating this, and i'll see if other arrangements can be made.

I haven't started Soulseeking yet. People tell me I should. I'll try to make it work. Technology holds many confusing terrors for me.

The Durruti Column - Finding The Sea

Bl00dy hell, that must be, what? Twenty years old? I've only got DC on vinyl, but Mrs. R bought me one of those vinyl to MP3 decks for my birthday; I'll have to do a spot of converting.

I'm just having another go at Deer Tick; Born on Flag Day. A good dose of alt-country. John McAuley could voice double for Billy Corgan without too much effort.

David Bowie; Hunky Dory

Just listened to this on vinyl. I got this in 1971 as a birthday present I think. Just converted it to MP3.

You just can't whack the mellow qualities of vinyl. Sorry to sound like a Luddite (which I'm not) but there is something else there with vinyl. And I don't mean the crackling between tracks....

I hope this mellowness translates to MP3.

I doubt it. Mellowness, as you describe, is one of those hard to define attributes that are part of analogue reproduction, and not digital. Note also that Hunky Dory would have been produced entirely using analogue recording equipment. Of course, there may have been the odd digital synthesizer, you never know.

I well remember the Phillips adverts boasting the benefits of CDs. Perfect sound and impervious to scratches. Both claims completely false. It's a wonder nobody sued.

I'm not a Luddite either, and I also appreciate when something is an actual improvement, and when it is just different.

The Wildhearts - "Lets fleece the fans by slapping some bonus tracks on the Japanese version of our latest album so they buy that, then put those bonus tracks on an EP that we say will only be available at 2 Xmas gigs in 2009 and then lets put that EP on the webstore afterwards and charge a tenner for it even though there are only actually 3 unreleased songs on it, that will learn them. Oh and then blame the record label, because we have never thought of doing that before; apart from EastWest, Mushroom, Warners, Infernal and even Round records - which we own!"

The Drums - Summertime

They are playing the Talking Heads on 22nd Feb. Just thought I'd let you know.

Gutted I can't go but I'm seeing them a week before. Girls are playing at the Talking Heads a couple of days after. I'm gonna miss that too but I've more than made up for it by getting tickets to see Spoon at the Electric Ballroom.

Just started up Transference by Spoon for the first time. Excited is an understatement.

It's very good but needs a few listens to get into. More Gimme Fiction than Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. Don't think it's as good as Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga though, that album was stellar. Can't wait to see them live. White Rabbit are supporting their UK tour.

Also, Contra is very, very good. Giving Up The Gun - what a tune!!
