miserableoldgit Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 "Looking for a New England", a very good CD given away in the current issue of FRoots magazine. http://www.frootsmag.com/content/freecd/anewengland/
miserableoldgit Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Genesis - Invisible Touch. And I dont care. Good for you! One of my favourite post Gabriel Genesis albums was "Duke". It wasn`t well reviewed but was/is rather good.
badgerx16 Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Both this and Kate Rusby are excellent choices. Why thank you, now stop poking me with that damn spoon.

St Landrew Posted 6 November, 2009 Posted 6 November, 2009 I`m into Thin Lizzy again.......... hey I know it`s old but it`s so darn good ! Just finished Listening to Blue Moves - Elton John from 1976 just about 20 minutes ago. Haven't put it on in perhaps 10 years. Sounded really good, especially One Horse Town and Chameleon. Of course, Out Of The Blue is the closing theme for the old Top Gear programme. That took me back. Perhaps in another 10 years...
Deppo Posted 7 November, 2009 Posted 7 November, 2009 Stereolab - the groop played "Space Age Bachelor Pad Music"

SuperMikey Posted 10 November, 2009 Posted 10 November, 2009 Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures OH EM GEE.
Pancake Posted 10 November, 2009 Posted 10 November, 2009 Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures OH EM GEE. Meh, as I posted last week there is nothing there that I didn't get from the Foos debut back in the nineties or the latest couple of QoTSA albums.
St Landrew Posted 10 November, 2009 Posted 10 November, 2009 (edited) Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans The Revealing Science Of God. There are times when the deja vu is palpable. I'm night-fishing; sailing while petrified on my first dinghy; riding my Triumph Tiger Cub; it's all there. Important note: Girlfriends generally didn't like Yes..! saint_bert Posted 10 November, 2009 Posted 10 November, 2009 Meh, as I posted last week there is nothing there that I didn't get from the Foos debut back in the nineties or the latest couple of QoTSA albums. Is it not that great? Have not yet heard it, and was very much looking foward too
Pancake Posted 10 November, 2009 Posted 10 November, 2009 Is it not that great? Have not yet heard it, and was very much looking foward too Don't get me wrong, it's a good album just not up to the sum of it's partsdyne you can get it all elsewhere. Hopefully a grower.
St Landrew Posted 10 November, 2009 Posted 10 November, 2009 Now onto Elton John - Blue Moves. One of the best things he ever did, although it was quite a low key affair. People may remember Crazy Water and Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word. But in actual fact the best tracks from my point of view are One Horse Town and Chameleon. Elton John at his best, which let's be fair, wasn't bad at all.
hamster Posted 10 November, 2009 Posted 10 November, 2009 Alf A rare vinyl compendium of every emotion that anyone who has ever been in and out of love will relate to. If I had grown up in Billericay at thr time I would have wanted to have been the inspiration behind one of her songs. ie I would
Pancake Posted 11 November, 2009 Posted 11 November, 2009 Marilyn Manson - The High End Of Low. Loving this at the mo, a good combination of his (lets face it, it is really just him now) previous albums, helped in large way to Chris Vrenna dealing with drums and programming, both of which are far less over the top that previously, and Twiggys now being the guitarist - his lines are best since Berkovic (John5s were always too obvious, but I did like the work by Skold on 'Eat me, Drink Me')
Rory Posted 13 November, 2009 Posted 13 November, 2009 I, too, was listening to the Them Crooked Vultures album last night. It is a little dull from what I have heard so far and it seems that the best parts of the album were featured as teasers on their website. I will give it a couple of listens but I am not too impressed. Just putting it out there, could someone start up a 'Best albums/songs of 2009' thread, say, at the start of December? I can tell it's going to take me a long time to wittle stuff down this year as it's been pretty stellar.
