Rattlehead Posted 3 October, 2009 Posted 3 October, 2009 Metallica - Blackened. One of the finest songs ever written.

Block 5 Posted 7 October, 2009 Posted 7 October, 2009 The Temptations - Get Ready Rare Earth - "Get Ready".
Ponty Posted 7 October, 2009 Posted 7 October, 2009 Alice In Chains - BGWTB (again). I've tried really hard to like this but I just can't. Perhaps I'm just in too good a place for their dischordant and miserable melodies (believe me, I usually love a bit of misery) but it just doesn't do it for me.
Rattlehead Posted 7 October, 2009 Posted 7 October, 2009 It took a few plays for me to 'get it' (as do most of my favourites) and I now think it's a great album. Only slight criticism is I'd like to hear more DuVall on it, but I think the songs are superb and it is comfortably the best new album I've heard this year. Sure it's no Dirt but I honestly don't think there's a single bad track on this album.
Deppo Posted 7 October, 2009 Posted 7 October, 2009 Dennis Wilson - Pacific Ocean Blue Just the ticket.

Rattlehead Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Out of interest Ponty, were you that into AIC and Cantrell stuff beforehand?
Ponty Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Out of interest Ponty, were you that into AIC and Cantrell stuff beforehand? They were more an interest than an obsession. I always quite liked them but never had any mates that were into them like other bands through the years, which (pre places like this) made discussing them, sharing opinions and certainly seeing them live pretty much out of the question. To put it succinctly, they were always on my radar but I never really got into them in a big way. The MP3 revolution is a handy way of revisiting stuff, like AiC, that I never gave enough eartime to in the past. Which is handy cos most contemporary music is garbage.
Rattlehead Posted 8 October, 2009 Posted 8 October, 2009 Nobody does misery music as well as Alice. I strongly recommend re-checking out Dirt and Unplugged if you haven't listened to them for a while. Absolute top notch stuff in my view. I love miserable music, it never fails to cheer me up no end.
