Rattlehead Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 I had been hoping to be listening to the new AIC album but the Royal Mail c*nts in London have made sure that that won't be happening any time soon. I will more than likely pay to download it as well. Anyone any comments on the latest Megadeth and Pearl Jam albums? Not overly impressed with the Megadeth one and don't see what all the hype is about.
Pancake Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Haven't heard the Megadeth one and Ive only given Backspacer a couple of spins as Ive been busy and in a kinda Wildhearts mood recently.
Ponty Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Hope you got your tickets for the London gig, Pancake. Leeds was awesome. Check out their blog - gig of the tour so far.
Redbul Posted 28 September, 2009 Posted 28 September, 2009 Been a bit retro (again) today: Shriekback; Oil and Gold followed by Big Night Music and then; 23 Skidoo; Seven Songs followed by Urban Gamelan Lovin' Porno Bass....

Rattlehead Posted 30 September, 2009 Posted 30 September, 2009 New AIC album, which passed me by the first couple of plays but I now think is an utterly superb album. I can't stop listening to it. Love it.

Love it. Im liking it, but Im a bit "disturbed" by how much they can sound like the old AiC. I know Cantrell's harmonies have a lot to do with the vocal sounds, but DuVall is almost too close to Staley for me - if that makes sense. The guitar work is excellent through out though, a real return to form there. Oh, and Im not sure about the "light" bass drum sound the producer has given them.

I think the most prominent vocals are actually Cantrell's anyway, other than on track 3 (can't remember the name, but it's a great song). DuVall not in the same league as Staley but I'd say this is a stronger album than than the "Tripod" album.
