Pancake Posted 26 June, 2009 Posted 26 June, 2009 I was listening to Sky Valley the other day whilst trying to put together a massive flat pack wardrobe. My frustration and anger were tempered by the filthy stoner rawk riffery. You can see why Im liking it today then...
Rattlehead Posted 26 June, 2009 Posted 26 June, 2009 Slayer - South of Heaven "behind The Crooked Cross" has always been my fave Slayer song. Good good album, but not as good as Reign or Seasons IMO. Crooked Cross is decent but I prefer Ghosts Of War from that album.
Deppo Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Spacemen 3 - DJ Tones - Recurring My soul has been cleansed.
Block 5 Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Various Artists - Solid Steel 1988-2008 : 20 Years Of The Broadest Beats. An awesome historical document of Solid Steel radio shows. DVD-ROM with over 40 hours of eclectic mixes...... a snip at £15!
LVSaint Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Various Artists - Solid Steel 1988-2008 : 20 Years Of The Broadest Beats. An awesome historical document of Solid Steel radio shows. DVD-ROM with over 40 hours of eclectic mixes...... a snip at £15! Is it available on the Ninjatune site? I've got quite a lot of downloads and cassettes of solid steel mixes collected over the years. There's just so much out there - 2 hour mix per week for the last 15 years or so!

There's just so much out there - 2 hour mix per week for the last 15 years or so! Yes mate. Well worth buying for some classic mixes and great value for money. I have a few downloads myself, mainly from soulseek; where did you source yours from?
Pancake Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 Van Halen - 1984 Aerosmith - Permanent Vacation Ozzy - Blizzard Of Oz Def Leppard - Hysteria
Julian H. Cope Posted 2 July, 2009 Author Posted 2 July, 2009 Ozric Tentacles - Strangeitude. 'Maaaan'
Nineteen Canteen Posted 2 July, 2009 Posted 2 July, 2009 Ozric Tentacles - Strangeitude. 'Maaaan' Breakfast in America - Supertramp. Can't bring myself to change it in the car's CD player. Not a bad track on the whole album and brilliant lyrics that seems to fit the hot weather, the recession and generally difficult times. Makes the A303/ M3 seem like the East Coast Highway for a few minutes every day. It must be good because it replaced in my cd player the greatest live album ever recorded and even better digitally remastered to the original running order...UFO - Strangers in the Night. Best live band I have ever seen and saw them twice at the Portsmouth Guildhall in the late seventies.
LVSaint Posted 6 July, 2009 Posted 6 July, 2009 Yes mate. Well worth buying for some classic mixes and great value for money. I have a few downloads myself, mainly from soulseek; where did you source yours from? Yes mate indeed. Soulseek for a bit but I used to record 'live' straight from the ninjatune weekly stream too in the early days. I would love to find an MP3 of the Festival Hall 'V-Jam' gig Coldcut broadcast about 10 years ago. Have it on tape somewhere. Excellent mix (featuring in part the Black Beauty soundtrack alongside some Euro96 commentary. Worked superbly well!)

Rattlehead Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 Serj Tankian. Good stuff and much better IMO than Scars On Broadway, the other SOAD side project.
miserableoldgit Posted 10 July, 2009 Posted 10 July, 2009 Steely Dan - Two Against Nature Always liked "Countdown to Ecstacy" and "Can't Buy a Thrill". Loved "Reeling in the Years" and the guitar work on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4ItqbXe5JE&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyaYXwoXpeM
St Landrew Posted 11 July, 2009 Posted 11 July, 2009 Been going through my mini light reggae collection over the last few days, and my 3 or so UB40 albums have amazingly stood the test of time, IMO. Was remembering a couple of lovely holidays in Cornwall during my 20s* [early 1980's], and tracks like Food For Thought, King, Many Rivers To Cross and Cherry Oh Baby actually had me almost feeling those times like they were a touchable thing. I welled up a few times, it was that tangible. I think if I could have smelled an old canvas tent at the same time the whole scene would have been complete. *It should be remembered that, like loads of people, I spent many holidays in Cornwall, right from my youth. The two or three that I had during my early 20s were extra special. It's a special county, as the Cornish know very well.
percy windham Posted 11 July, 2009 Posted 11 July, 2009 Steely Dan - Two Against Nature saw these at Hammersmith last week, one of the best gigs i have been to.

Ivor Cutler - It's a complete CD of that title - came out in 1978. CD on Cherry Red 2002. It's a compilation of live shows in Glasgow in 1977. Yes, Shot by Both Sides is on Real life, track 3. CD on Virgin with 2nd album, Secondhand Daylight, which is ordinary. IMO all the best stuff is on Real Life, they should have spread 'em out a bit!
