Hamilton Saint Posted 16 June, 2009 Posted 16 June, 2009 Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here. Their best IMHO. I'd agree with that, although my favourite single piece of theirs is "Echoes" (side 2 of Meddle).
Lets B Avenue Posted 17 June, 2009 Posted 17 June, 2009 Au Revoir Simone - Still Night, Still Light. Jason Lytle (from the greatly missed, Granddaddy) - Yours Truly.
Rattlehead Posted 17 June, 2009 Posted 17 June, 2009 Ponty, did you see them at Download? Superb album and I tried to get tickets for their Brixton gig, but no luck. Interested to hear how they were from anyone who went. Back on topic, I've been to a couple of gigs this week: Suicidal Tendencies and Anthrax, both excellent and the latter being one of the best gigs I have ever been to. So I've been listening to Anthrax almost none stop. Superb. They have a new album out in October, played a few new ones and they were pretty good.

I didn't, RH, but they did stream their entire gig live on the Download website so I stayed in Friday and watched it. Epic performance ('scuse the pun) but they all look so old nowadays, except Mike who doesn't seem to have changed a bit. They certainly didn't play like they'd been away for a decade.
Redbul Posted 17 June, 2009 Posted 17 June, 2009 I've been listening to Matthew Sweet and Chuck Prophet today. Felt in a guitary mood.

I believe they're playing somewhere else in the UK over summer, but can't remember where and can't find the email, dammit, and it isn't on their website yet. I think it is Reading, which I can't go to. I would deffo like to see them again though, even if the legend that is Jim Martin isn't playing. Cheers re stream info - I was away for the weekend but will seek out some decent downloads.
TheCholulaKid Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Faith No More - The Real Thing Listened to this the other day. Mighty fine album. My first stadium gig was Soundgarden and Faith No More supporting GnR at Wembley - seared onto my memory. Faith No More were awesome that day. Renaissance Rap - Q-Tip
Seany S Posted 18 June, 2009 Posted 18 June, 2009 Listening to Sean Lennon - Into the Sun, Sonic Youth "The Majestic" and L'il Wayne Drought mixtapes.
Redbul Posted 19 June, 2009 Posted 19 June, 2009 Started off the day with Orb; Toxygene [Kris Needs Up For A Fortnight Mix] which sent me off on an Orb spiral including album gems like The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld, U.F.Orb. Little Fluffy Clouds always makes me feel summery....
TheCholulaKid Posted 21 June, 2009 Posted 21 June, 2009 Cast- All Change Good sh1t. If that's what you're smoking then I suppose they might be. But I doubt it. People Under the Stairs - O.S.T

Hamilton Saint Posted 21 June, 2009 Posted 21 June, 2009 I recently watched an interesting documentary about the affect of Hurricane Katrina on the music scene in New Orleans (New Orleans: Music in Exile). Been listening to albums by the Neville Brothers and Dr. John for the last couple of days. Fantastic stuff!
Seany S Posted 22 June, 2009 Posted 22 June, 2009 Man I love the Neville Brothers, awesome indeed. I am stoked for the forthcoming David Simon tv series about musicians in post-Katrina New Orleans ("Treme") it should be essential viewing. Today I am going all DC/angular and listening to some Jonathan Fire Eater (their first ep), Jesus Lizard "Down" and Fugazi's "In On The Kill Taker".
Ludwig Posted 22 June, 2009 Posted 22 June, 2009 Naughty Pancake. Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix It's quite nice this Phoenix record.
Deppo Posted 22 June, 2009 Posted 22 June, 2009 It's quite nice this Phoenix record. I think United is probably their best, though I haven't got their third one yet. Today I have listened to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - BRMC.
Redbul Posted 23 June, 2009 Posted 23 June, 2009 I was shuffling at work today and Working in A Goldmine popped onto my iPod. That was it, I was back in the 80s with Aztec Camera, Prefab Sprout and Scritti Politti and do you know what? I don't care. Floods of memories from 20+ years ago.

Don't be ashamed of your eighties heritage. Cupid And Psyche and Love are great albums.
Redbul Posted 23 June, 2009 Posted 23 June, 2009 Don't be ashamed of your eighties heritage. Cupid And Psyche and Love are great albums. I go back further than that (but not too much further!!!!)....I was telling a mate at work today about the Clash gig (16 Tonnes tour) at the Top Rank. That must have been 1979?
Pancake Posted 24 June, 2009 Posted 24 June, 2009 The new Kasabian one. Liking it, I know they are love or hate but I really like them.

Julian H. Cope Posted 24 June, 2009 Author Posted 24 June, 2009 The Lightning Seeds - Pure The Boo Radleys - From The Bench At Belvedere
Deppo Posted 25 June, 2009 Posted 25 June, 2009 This Empire Of The Sun band are quite a bizarre proposition, aren't they?
Seany S Posted 25 June, 2009 Posted 25 June, 2009 mclusky - mclusky Do Dallas. Awesome band, awesome record. they are sadly missed. Saw them live a couple of times, very entertaining indeed. I am listening to the "Gummo" OST, nineteen tracks of underground metal and grindcore, absolutely superb. Some of the bands, like Eyehategod, Brujeria and Sleep I have heard of, but there are some real gems from groups I have never heard before. Depending on the battery on the old MP3 player, next I am going to chill with a bit of My Morning Jacket.
Pancake Posted 26 June, 2009 Posted 26 June, 2009 Slayer - South of Heaven "behind The Crooked Cross" has always been my fave Slayer song.
Seany S Posted 26 June, 2009 Posted 26 June, 2009 I was listening to Sky Valley the other day whilst trying to put together a massive flat pack wardrobe. My frustration and anger were tempered by the filthy stoner rawk riffery. Today I am listening to a few comedy CDs I dug out, peter Cook and Chris Morris "Why Bother?" and a hilarious prank phonecall album by some Scottish comedians called The Hang Ups - sort of like the Jerky Boys but from Paisley. Very amusing.
