Tis despicable. I have it in the car sometimes as it's available to me via Sirius satellite radio. I can usually only stomach a few minutes (Sara Cox, Scott Mills, etc) before I'm reaching for a different preset. It used to be fairly decent 10 years ago. SuperMikey Posted 26 November, 2008 Share Posted 26 November, 2008 The Killers - Day & Age Guns N Roses - Chinese Democracy Day & Age is like the lovechild of Hot Fuss and Sam's Town, retaining the deep lyrical side of the latter and injecting a bit of the hot-blooded funk of the former (especially in opener Losing Touch). The combination is pretty damn good I have to say, it's an instantly likeable album but it's not vapid-pop as I had worried it would be after listening to first single Human (which has actually really grown on me). Really like this album. 8/10 Chinese Democracy however is a whole different ball game. It differs quite a lot from the older GNR stuff, which is good as the band need to appeal to a different audience now that music has moved on a bit. At first listen it sounds remarkably similar to the music that Velvet Revolver (the band that the rest of the former members of GNR went on to form when the band split) makes. The songs themselves aren't too great tbh, it's kind of an average album really. I have a feeling that this might be an album that people have differing views on, and i'm in the camp that thinks it's a bit crap really. Disappointing. 5/

Really like this album. 8/10 The album is terrible. The Killers must be one of the biggest failures and disappointments of all time. Back in 2003, this band really excited me. Early demos of The Ballad of Michael Valentine, Under the Gun, Mr Brightside and Somebody Told Me were top drawer and the first five songs on Hot Fuss are very good. Since then, they have declined into a parody. Day & Age is one of the worst albums I have heard in a long time. I thought they couldn't become any more of a joke after the release of their last album but they have truly surpassed themselves. Shocking. SuperMikey Posted 3 December, 2008 Share Posted 3 December, 2008 Went on a bit of a birthday spending spree and bought some new albums: Biffy Clyro - The Vertigo of Bliss 7/10 Second album from the Scots, not their best but certainly a good album nonetheless. Bit more 'screamy' than the Puzzle stuff and some quite heavy riffs. Best Song: Toys, Toys, Toys, Choke, Toys, Toys, Toys Biffy Clyro - Blackened Sky 8/10 The band's first album. This album has got some of the band's best work ('57', 'Justboy' and 'Stress on the Sky' to name a few) on it, and some really good songs in between. Recommend you buy it. Best Song: 57 Biffy Clyro - Infinity Land 9/10 Rounding off my Biffy Clyro spending spree is this album. Their third album has got some really great songs on it, such as 'There's No Such Thing As A Jaggy Snake', 'Glitter & Trauma' and 'My Recovery Injection'. Really recommend this album too, it's a must have imo. Best Song: Glitter & Trauma Hot Club de Paris - Drop It Till It Pops 8/10 Frantic barbershop indie rock from Sunderland. Some great songs on here, not only a really great and quite innovative band but also fantastic live. The album loses pace a bit towards the middle, but it picks up towards the end and makes up for the dreary 'Snitches Get Stitches' and equally dreary 'Hello, I Wrote A Song For You Called "Welcome To The Jungle"'. Best Song: Sometimesitsbetternottostickbitsofeachotherineachotherforeachother Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit - A Larum 9/10 I fell in love with this band when I heard the demo of 'Tickle Me Pink' about a year and a half ago. I've waited with baited breath for the album and i'm not disappointed. The album is so charming, catchy and toe-tappingly brilliant. 'The Box' is a fantastic song and the aforementioned 'Tickle Me Pink' is magical. Awesome album, definately buy this! For fans of Laura Marling especially. Best Song: Tickle Me Pink Do let me know if anyone's taken my recommendations. Mind you, these are quite well known albums, so people have probably got them already.
