sambosa75 Posted 8 August, 2011 Posted 8 August, 2011 I'd like that broken down please... Impressive if true.

thefunkygibbons Posted 8 August, 2011 Posted 8 August, 2011 what about those we were losing at HT How many did we turn around?
stevegrant Posted 8 August, 2011 Posted 8 August, 2011 what about those we were losing at HT How many did we turn around? Over the same time period: 23 Apr 2011: Brighton 1-2 Saints (1-0 HT) 12 Apr 2011: Rochdale 2-0 Saints (2-0 HT) 2 Apr 2011: Saints 3-2 MK Dons (0-1 HT) 22 Jan 2011: Tranmere 2-0 Saints (1-0 HT) 11 Dec 2010: Saints 0-2 Brentford (0-2 HT) 13 Nov 2010: Carlisle 3-2 Saints (2-0 HT) 30 Oct 2010: Notts County 1-3 Saints (1-0 HT) 16 Oct 2010: Huddersfield 2-0 Saints (2-0 HT) 4 Sep 2010: Saints 0-2 Rochdale (0-1 HT) 1 May 2010: Gillingham 2-1 Saints (1-0 HT) So a somewhat more mixed record when we've been trailing at half-time. P10 W3 L7 Nice sets of stats - Steve. There must be a negative psychological effect to going in at HT ..and being behind a goal ... or two -even if there are 45 monutes more to play. I know about second half comebacks and all that ..and we've had a few, but it does underline the importance of getting the first goal / and - or leading at HT. If you're behind ...the game may not be over, but the manager must make changes (tactics / players) earlier... if the game is to be won. Leading at HT is a real + factor but it's equally important NOT to " switch off " in the second half. Connolly's goal on Saturday was the real killer, even though the earlier ones looked more spectacular. Edited 8 August, 2011 by david in sweden
trousers Posted 8 August, 2011 Posted 8 August, 2011 This is all very good, but how does this compare to every other team's half time record?
tpbury Posted 8 August, 2011 Posted 8 August, 2011 Yes, I want figures over the last 2,5 and 10 years on my desk by Wednesday,
ant Posted 8 August, 2011 Posted 8 August, 2011 Didn't quite a few people on here suggest that we were a 'second half' team last season?
positivepete Posted 8 August, 2011 Posted 8 August, 2011 http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/overview.html This site keeps good stats and sequences. I am sure if you dig around you can find those from last season
Saint Garrett Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 (edited) Is that 27 now ? Edited 16 August, 2011 by Saint Garrett included cup game
stevegrant Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Is that 27 now ? No, cup games weren't included initially - we led at HT against Man United last season and lost - so it's 26 now. Another stat that I spotted yesterday, we've dropped just 5 points from the last available 51 in league games!
Pilchards Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Another fact that I have noticed, every time Saints win Pompey don't! and If Pompey win we don't. Reckon If it continues this run then we will be champions as I can't see that **** down the road win a game ever
dubai_phil Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Going way back to our PL days, I remember in a televised game (either Brum or Villa) where the tater said it had been some ridiculous number of games where when we went a goal behind we had lost - ie something daft like 2 years where we concede and had never come back to win (maybe even draw) itw as certainly the worst in the PL So a major turn-round from those days

Saint Garrett Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 We must have nearly won every game that Connollys scored in ? The only one I can think of is Gillingham away when we lost 2-1.
Clash City Saint Posted 20 August, 2011 Posted 20 August, 2011 Ok, tough first half.....lets see if we can keep up this amazing stat...................I fancy us to go on and win by three clear goals.
dubai_phil Posted 20 August, 2011 Posted 20 August, 2011 And another one to add to the flood of records that this team keep knocking over
sussexsaint Posted 20 August, 2011 Posted 20 August, 2011 Loving this stat, hopefully before long if we're up at half time the opposition will just go home
ericofarabia Posted 20 August, 2011 Posted 20 August, 2011 Loving this stat, hopefully before long if we're up at half time the opposition will just go home Would suit me after today!!
Kaiser Soze Posted 19 November, 2011 Author Posted 19 November, 2011 If my maths is correct, this is now up to an impressive 38 games.
Saint Garrett Posted 23 January, 2012 Posted 23 January, 2012 So is this consecutive record still in place or has it gone now ? I have a feeling it is still in tact ? 40 games is it now ?
Saint Thomas Posted 23 January, 2012 Posted 23 January, 2012 It's still in place, think it is 37 league games now, not sure about all comps.
Saint Garrett Posted 23 January, 2012 Posted 23 January, 2012 12 League games this season after looking at that website, 25 by the end of last, so 37 league games.
Saint Garrett Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 Plus Burnley (h) Plus Derby (h) Plus Watford (a) It is quite an unbelievable record this.
JackFrost Posted 10 March, 2012 Posted 10 March, 2012 Incredible considering the days under Lowe (and I'm not blaming him personally for this) where we were forever throwing away leads and dropping points left right and centre. Absolutely fantastic
Saint Garrett Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Plus Palace, Peterborough and Coventry. So thats 46. Wonder how long this record will go on for in the Premiership !!! Amazing.
Saint Garrett Posted 8 October, 2012 Posted 8 October, 2012 So this record was finally lost yesterday. Shame but a cracking record all the same.
Dr Who? Posted 8 October, 2012 Posted 8 October, 2012 Not lost when winning at half time will continue...... I think it will be gone this season though!
Deano6 Posted 8 October, 2012 Posted 8 October, 2012 Not lost when winning at half time will continue...... I think it will be gone this season though! The Peter Principle is a belief that, in an organization where promotion is based on achievement, success, and merit, that organization's members will eventually be promoted beyond their level of ability.
