As he leaves expect us to announce a big signing either the same day or shortly after. The club are so intent on keeping the feel good factor, and rightly so, that they will be intent on softening the blow. Would be very surprised if we signed Long though.

It's not one of these "injuries" which prevents a player from playing right before a big money move' date=' is it...?[/quote']

A source who is a friend of a friend (etc etc) said that it was part of the deal with Arse to not let him play so would make sense but don't know if there is any truth in this, probably just pub talk...

if we do sell and get 12 million, (very nice) i hope 10 million is spent on bringing in first team players (a good striker and cb pls). with 1 or 2million pumped back into the youth training set up/running.

keep or oxo who might not be as good or commited this season or sell and bring in 2/3 players and more depth and quality and help push us on up the league, i choose to sell.

Same here. Let's get Maynard or Rodriguez in plus a partner for Fonte in and really aim top 6. This is the same drip-drip speculation we had with Theo and I don't want to see the clear team unity displayed on Saturday disrupted by Alex's team of "advisers" after their big pay day. Although Ox-C has been a good distraction from anyone noticing Lallana's rapid development into a top drawer player!

I'm pretty sure Arsenal won't have the cash upfront to spend unless they sell Nasri or Fabregas first, they're pretty much constantly skint from paying off their stadium. Of course if Fabregas went to Barcelona, they're millions in debt and wouldn't have the readies up front either... :D

i think most english transfer deal's our done 50% upfront rest over time. rarely will any team pay 100% in one go. just hope there not aload of silly payments based of number of future appearence's/goals or possible england caps which may never happen. i would rather 5/6mill up front the rest of the fee to be paid monthly over 12/24/36 months.

Gooners won't be happy though if Fabregas and Nasri go to be replaced by a promising 18 year old that has only played a season in the third division! Moreover, they still can't seem to get the other youngster (Theo) that they bought from us fit for any more than about 4 games in a row. If this is true, we can re-invest and really push for the play offs if the fee from Arsenal is right. Doubt if Cortese will do business if it isn't.

Right! now lets spend that on a nice striker and a CB then please and the rest on a party to celebrate the circus leaving town.

All respect to the lad but its been a total distraction for months now - we had a phenominal closing to last season , yet all the press wanted to talk about was AOC.

DeRidders time to shine approaches

I will wait to see it when it happens rather than believing some Twitter comment from someone I have never heard of! If he stays, that's great and it will be good to see his development into a great professional footballer. If he goes then it will be sad to see his demise into a Premiership reserve, but more fool him and long may he reflect upon his regrets for making such a foolish move!

IMO, he would be best to stay and help us get promotion to the Premiership. If he goes to Arsenal his development will probably suffer by about two years, as it did for Theo. If he wants to go the Premiership, there are far better clubs for developing young talent and giving him the chance to shine, although few of them could afford the fee we have slapped on him.

Also, I am not sure if he leaves it will be a huge loss for Saints. De Ridder look like he could be a much better player for us than Chamberlain anyway and I suspect Oxo could spend much of the season on the bench. I am not convinced we need to sign anyone else up-front. I believe defence is a bigger concern - both left central defence and left back.

As for the money, it doesn't seem to me that we need it, but I am sure the Liebherr family will be delighted to see a return for their investment if it doesn't affect our future prospects.
