Expect a fairly weak side to be put out but have heard a few rumours that some of our younger players are being tried out as well so could well be interesting.

I'd go with

Bart

Butters - Jaidi - Seaborne - Dickson

De Ridder - Chaplow - Morgan - Holmes

Barnard - Guly

Yep, that works for me too (although replacing Barnard with Doble as Adkins mentioned in his post match interview at the weekend that Barnie wasn't going to start training proper until today or tomorrow at the earliest)

Stephens----Jaidi----Seaborne----Dickson

De Ridder----JWP----Chaplow------Holmes

In that case I'd probably go with Forte.

I would definitely rotate - it's a squad game and we need everyone fit.

Bart

Butterfield Jaidi Seaborne Dickson

De Ridder Schneiderlin Chaplow Holmes

Forte Doble

Subs, Davis, Stephens/Reeves, Cork, Guly, Barnard

Would like De Ridder to get 90 minutes, or at least a start.

I'm not going, first home match I could attend that I'm not going to for years, and I'm pretty sure he's going to be brilliant - that's the only thing that might possibly have enticed me.

I'm looking forward to it more than ever tomorrow - what's your reason for not wanting to go?

we did not rest that many key players in last years cup matches so I don't expect many to be rested tomorrow. Lets keep the winning mentality going..

I think we should be putting out our best team for starters, rotating players later when we are two goals up to keep them fresh for Saturday.

There is no reason why we cannot win the League Cup.

Then a strong finish aiming towards the play-offs.

I would say the pile of Prem sides who are probably better than us would be a pretty good reason we wouldn't win the League Cup, and I don't think we need our starting XI to beat Torquay now we've got such depth in the squad. We could happily field an eleven completely changed from Saturday's starting side without issue - it's not the JPT.

Although the competition rules DO state :

6.2 Each Club shall play its full available strength in all Cup Competition matches, unless some satisfactory reason is given. In the event of the explanation not being deemed satisfactory the Management Committee shall have power to impose such penalties as they shall think fit. The provisions governing disciplinary matters in relation to the Competition are contained in Rule 23.

I'd like to see Arsenal defend themselves on that one after 5 years of basically fielding their youth team.

Just moved house, paying off outstanding utilities bills and going to Barnsley which will cost a load in petrol, plus I now live much further from the ground and it's become a pain to get in and back. In addition I may be playing in (or at least watching) a friendly match in Bursledon at the same time.

Oh, and of course if I don't get a ticket today (which I won't, because I won't know whether I'm playing until tomorrow), I absolutely guarantee I won't be paying the on the day tax.

Fair enough.

Does the ticket tax exist for cup games? £14 + whatever that would be does seem a bit steep (although admittedly Torquay probably had more of an influence on ticket prices than we did).

Why don't you pitch up during the day tomorrow, park in the car park and find out ? :D

Adkins sounds like he's taking tomorrow's game very seriously, I think we'll see a mixture of Saturday's team with a couple of changes.

I'd play however,

Bart

Butterfield - Martin - Jaidi - Dickson

De Ridder - Morgan - Chaplow - Holmes

Barnard - Lambert

I'd go with most of that. ..except that I don't think Barnard is fully fit yet. So I'd play Guly up front with Lambert.

People should understand that we will have changes for Cup matches .. and we don't have JPT games anymore.

If this is our " second XI " I know...wrong sport...then it's still pretty strong and ought to take care of an L2 side in a home fixture

With the exception of De Ridder, all the above played at some stage last season and we can surely put one or two " regulars" on the bench....and maybe even a couple of new faces from the Academy ranks.

I always like playing Torquay because they're my Dad's team. I don't think we'll change the team too much though, the back four may even be kept together, although Butterfield, Seaborne and Dickson would surely be knocking on the door.

SOmething like: Bart, Richardson, Fonte, Martin, Harding, De Ridder, Morgan, Deano, Lallana, Lambert, Barnard/Forte.

Whoever we choose I reckon we will win this, it would be interesting to see some squad faces though.

Annoyingly I'm sad in 42 tonight, I really hope no knobs start signing about the riots...

Don't be sad, it will be all right and we will win, I promise. 3-0.

Not really that worrying then! TBF I knew he'd gotten injured but thought he was back training by now.

Sorry mate no idea why I put the ! At the end. Sure Adkins said it somewhere at the weekend but it was drowned out by all the AOC stuff.

A decent team, with 8 changes from Saturday's starting 11.

Shows how good our squad is; I'm hoping it will get even better very soon.
