pressingon Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Despite the stated 5 year plan I think that NC & NA believe that with a couple of additions this squad is good enough for a top six finish this season. Given that, should we change a winning team and play the other squad against Torquay? I would like to see Bart, Butterfield, Seaborne, Jaidi, Chaplow, Barnard, Forte and Holmes all given a place in the squad and protect the “main men” for the important stuff.
Patrick Bateman Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Sod the League Cup, it's pointless and a distraction, I'd like us to play the U21 team to be honest! The FA Cup is a different story however.
skintsaint Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 I agree - will be second string in this cup game.
Littlelat17 Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Bart, butterfield, Jahdi, Seabourne, Dickson, De Ridder, Chaplow, Schneiderlin, Holmes, Barnard, Forte Not a bad second string team!
beatlesaint Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Bart, butterfield, Jahdi, Seabourne, Dickson, De Ridder, Chaplow, Schneiderlin, Holmes, Barnard, Forte Not a bad second string team! Not a bad shout, doubt Barnard will be fit enough to start, I would think Rickie will play.
Saint Thomas Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Would quite like to see (though don't expect to); Bart Stephens*, Martin, Seaborne, Dickson De Ridder, Chaplow, Cork, Holmes Guly, Lambert Subs: Davis, Jaidi, Isgrove, Hammond, Barnard * or are the U18s still away beating the Scandinavians?
Saint Thomas Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Or swap Guly for Forte actually, had forgotten about him!
benjii Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 I would pick: -------------------Bart-------------- Butter-------Jaidi---Seaborne-----Dicko de Rid----Chappers---Morgan-----Holmes ----------Doble------Barney---------- I'd give de Ridder the first half and then get him off at half time. The bench wouldn't have any of the starters from yesterday on it.
Dr Who? Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Not interested in the League Cup. Also keeping y feet well and truely on the floor. Yes we were pretty brilliant yesterday, but this is the confidence that comes in a new season after promotion, but will be interesting to see what happens after a sticky patch. We know we will not play like that all season. Mid table I would be happy with and push on for promotion next. Of course if we can keep it going I would only be to happy. FEET firmly on the ground, one game does not make a season. Celebrate until the next game and then back to business for the fans!!
Mattio Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 on a slightly related topic, anyone know the amount of tickets sold for this? I couldn't go to Leeds so this'll be my first game of the season!
JustMike Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Adkins likes the winning mentality, a few changes I expect but not loads
pressingon Posted 7 August, 2011 Author Posted 7 August, 2011 FEET firmly on the ground, one game does not make a season. Celebrate until the next game and then back to business for the fans!! Don't worry having been going to Saints games for 50 years these feet are firmly planted ! I just think that this is the fittest, most together and talented squad I have seen here for a long time and with owner/management stability should be able to mount a serious challenge. That's not to say I woudn't be happy with mid table consolidation just think we are capable of more
Saintandy666 Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 I expect he'll give Bart a go and de Ridder and start. Probably make a few other changes as well, but I don't think Adkins will field the youth team. He always bangs on about the 'winning mentality' and how we must win every game.
benjii Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 In second thoughts I would give Martin another match instead of Jaidi.
markr27 Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 I agree with Benji regarding Martin, I'd keep him in. Suspect all five subs from yesterday will start on Tuesday, as will Dickson, Seaborne and Barnard if fit. Doble may be involved, but suspect Lambert may start.
ThreeSixty Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 ----------------------Bart------------------- Butterfield---Jaidi-----Seaborne----Dickson Holmes------Morgan----Chaplow------Forte -----------------De Ridder---------------- -----------------Barney-----------------
saintjay77 Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Agree with most of the suggested teams so far. Think doble may get a run out too though. Torquay will be a tough game though so it will still be a good test for who ever gets the nod. I also think we are one of around 10 teams that are aiming for top 6. The teams that are there or there abouts around Xmas will be the ones that start aiming for the automatic slots with the mid table teams making a push for play-offs. The way Sven has spent I would say they are the only team that will be seriously aiming for automatic from the off. Still think they are in the hat with about 4 other teams that could take those spots though so Sven could be on dodgy ground come the end of the season. If we can perform like yesterday throughout the season top 6 is well within our reach. Not sure we can keep up the momentum so won't be too miffed if we miss out this year.
dronskisaint Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 I'd like to see Jack Stephens given a game. Hmmm - only seen him play once at Kettering and there were a couple of the U21s that I'd put in the queue ahead of him....actually 3 if you include Mills (Isgrove & Racine being the others) but as I said...only going by the one game.
LGTL Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Bart Butterfield Martin Seaborne Dickson De Ridder Chaplow Morgan Holmes Barnard Guly
Avenue Saint Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Bart Butterfield Martin Jaidi Dickson De Ridder Chaplow Morgan Holmes Barnard Guly I'd play Martin again. Needs game time. Bit rough obviously at moment. Game time will help with distribution
Dazza82 Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 (edited) ---------------Davis----------------- Richardson-Fonte-Martin-Harding -Schneiderlin-Chaplow-Hammond- De Ridder-------------------Lallana ------------Lambert-------------- Subs: Bart, Butterfield,Guly,Dickson,Forte Edited 7 August, 2011 by Dazza82 Cant count
Ohio Saint Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 With League games on Saturday and Tuesday, I would for sure like to see a predominantly second string team. With the exception of De Ridder. He needs to get some more bedding in. and Martin needs more play.
St Marco Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Think it is a good chance to see how the other guys do. Bart Butters Seaborne Saville/Stephens Dickson De Ridder Dean Morgan Holmes Barnard Doble
StVince1966 Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 davis butterfield gorkiss jadhi harding holmes chaplow hammond chamberlain lambert owen
Granite_City_Saint Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 ---------------Davis----------------- Richardson-Fonte-Martin-Harding -Schneiderlin-Chaplow-Hammond- De Ridder-------Cork--------Lallana ------------Lambert-------------- Subs: Bart, Butterfield,Guly,Dickson,Forte Perhaps we will only be allowed 4 subs if we start with 12 on the pitch;)
Northant Saint Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 defo dont want to see the likes of lallana and fonte, its crucial that these kind of players are fit for league games. Martin and de Ridder both need game time. Bart Butterfield Martin Seabourne Dickson De Ridder Schneiderlin Chaplow Isgrove Doble Barnard
Dazza82 Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Perhaps we will only be allowed 4 subs if we start with 12 on the pitch;) oops lol
eharty9 Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 ---------------Davis----------------- Richardson-Fonte-Martin-Harding -Schneiderlin-Chaplow-Hammond- De Ridder-------------------Lallana ------------Lambert-------------- Subs: Bart, Butterfield,Guly,Dickson,Forte is it 12 a side in the league cup?
Dazza82 Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 is it 12 a side in the league cup? No, Cant you count lol
scotty Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 I'll be going, dont expect a huge turnout tho. Also dont expect a first string side out but wtf.
VectisSaint Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Can't see Jaidi, Barnard or Oxo being risked considering they were injured for yesterday. Would not be surprised to see Spiderman and Chaplow in MF, and Bart in goal. Doubt DC will be risked either, but otherwise would keep similar team.
K,Billy's supersound Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 i would like to see the following team Bart butterfeild seaborne jaidi reeves de ridder chaplow morgan forte barnard doble subs davis dickson martin hammond oxo if fit otherwise guly
Thedelldays Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 I doubt he will make wholesale changes.. will probably make 4/5 max I reckon.. Davis Butters Martin Jadi Dickson Lallana Morgan Hammond De Ridder Guly Lambert with lallana and lambert coming off early
CHAZZA 92 Posted 7 August, 2011 Posted 7 August, 2011 Bart Butterfield Martin Seaborne Dickson De Ridder Chaplow Morgan Lallana Lambert Barnard (if fit) if not Guly
CFSFC Posted 8 August, 2011 Posted 8 August, 2011 My team. Bart Butterfield Seabourne Jaidi Reeves De Ridder Chaplow Schniderlain Holmes Lambert Connolly Bench Dickson Racine Doble Chamberlain Davis In my opinion the front 2 both need to start as goals and confidence are what strikers live on... If they both score they will be better for it and ready for Saturday.

If they both score they will be better for it and ready for Saturday. If barneys fit, imho he should play for that very reason. Im also hoping that we can get a decent look at de ridder, preferably the full game. Im surprised at how much I'm looking forward to this game. I know its a bit of an irrelevance, but will be great to see the 2nd team out and see what they can do. Also im away for a couple of weeks shortly after so will miss a few games.
Minsk Posted 8 August, 2011 Posted 8 August, 2011 I would go with: Bart Butters Martin Seaborne Dickson de Ridder Morgan Hammond Holmes Barnard Guly Subs: Davis, Richardson, Chaplow, Forte, Doble
Matthew Le God Posted 8 August, 2011 Posted 8 August, 2011 Lots of people only naming 5 subs, it is 7 subs in the League Cup.
Ewell Posted 8 August, 2011 Posted 8 August, 2011 I am pretty sure Ben Reeves adn Ryan Dobie will both get a run out.
