pap Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 MLT is rightly beloved by Southampton fans, years after his retirement from the game. Hopefully, Lallana will choose to stay with Saints and become recognised as a Southampton FC legend. Awesome player.

Minsk Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 Not good enough for the Championship - according to Saint Lard I think we are very lucky to have him, and he will soon be courted by many top clubs if he keeps producing displays like yesterday on the TV. I would love for him to mstay with us his entire career, but we would need to become everything Marcus wanted us to and more for that to be the case. Here's hoping!!!!!! niceandfriendly Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 He's really someone the kids can look up to. He'll inspire a new generation of Saints fans I'm sure of that. There isn't a god, but if there was Lallana would be it.
Dazza82 Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 I was watching goals on sunday today and Brendan Rogers was talking about Lallana and said that he almost got a big move a couple of years ago but it didnt go through!? Were Chelsea in for him, i say that as Rogers was working there a couple of years ago, I also remember Fulham being linked with him too

He very very nearly moved to a premiership side, but luckily Markus and co came in just in time.
Thedelldays Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 as I said elsewhere...the secret is now out of the bag....I always tell my mates at work that it is quite amusing how chamberlain gets all the attention...yet he is not even the best player in our team.. the way lallana played from about 20 mins on yesterday..he movement and his goal...also his almost goal..(what a first touch) and the way he casually nutmeged the defender for connolly has shown the wider footballing mongs how good he is... still, its all about chamberlain right..? lallana is far more important to us than OxO

S-Clarke Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 How the hell has he not generated stupid amounts of interest and speculation? I would say it's probably because of his age and his lack of a real impact at a level above L1, he's not really seen as a youngster anymore - and possibly his lack of pace. He's still class though, and I'm sure we'll get some visits this season from scouts.

It's insane, one good performance on television and I suddenly have all these people telling me just how fantastic he is and fans of other NPC clubs claiming they should buy him off us. dan17 Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 Absolutely love watching Lallana play. Not afraid to admit that I worship the ground he walks on. When I first saw him play, I must admit, I didn't think he would become half the player he is now. He has improved ten fold since then IMO. I just hope, no no really really hope I mean, that he stays with us for a long time yet - Fingers crossed that we give him reason enough to stay. I have no doubt whatsoever that Lallana can make a name for himself in the premiership (lets just hope its with us!!!).
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 For all the near universal praise he now (justifiably) receives it's worth remembering that there were more than a few on here who didn't rate Adam Lallana very highly in the early stages of his career. All young players have their ups & downs of course, but the natural talent and 'spot on' approach to the game this player displays in abundance was always there for all to see I would have thought. I won't embarrass the guilty by suggesting they use this opportunity to confess their sin's .......
Crab Lungs Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 (edited) As I have posted umpteen times, Lallana is a Premier League class footballer. Not a Stoke, Wigan or Fulham class footballer either - A Spurs, Arsenal class footballer. People can tell me to take my "rose-tinted specs off" but I believe those who know a bit about football probably think the same too. Yes, he's only really done it in League One. Yet before Bale moved and stepped up as an international-class footballer, he had only one season in the NPC. And anyone who saw Bale graduate and perform in the Saints team should have noticed immediately that he already had the maturity and technique of a top Premier League footballer. World class technique, pace, great crosser and a set piece specialist. Lallana, yes, has only done it in League One (so far). But I defy anyone to tell me that there is a better, more creative young English footballer outside the top flight or, Jack Wilshere aside, in the Premier League. We are so very, very, very lucky to have him but I fear people will only realise just what an incredible player he is when he's gone. We have a player who, for all Leicester and West Ham's big-money purchases, they don't have. We have a player that is incomparable in terms of quality to anyone at else in the Championship. And it was hilarious as it was frustrating to see Lallana left out of the U21's for players like Mancienne, Henderson, Cleverley and Muamba. Really, Pearce? Really? No wonder we were so flat. That said, his omission is probably going to work in our favour considerably. And that is the reason why we must not stagnate and be "content" with a mid-table finish. As I've also said a million times before, if the height of our ambition is to establish ourselves in the NPC as opposed to a promotion push, then we can kiss goodbye to Fonte, Lallana, Oxo and any other of our best players come the end of the season. It's going to be a nailbiting season, but I think we're really in the middle of something good... Edited 7 August, 2011 by Crab Lungs

If we fail to get promotion it simply would not be fair to keep any of those players. I don't want to lose them so we had better get promoted!!!! paulwantsapint Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 Reason to never sell is that if he stays for life bompy will really hate it that we paid peanuts to buy him plus a sell on clause that only becomes any use IF we sell
de-fence Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 My Wolves supporting mate telling me he wouldn't get close to their first team. I told him he didn't know what he was talking about. He's very stubborn and got on his premiership high horse.. 'what would you know you support a championship team'.. the kind of thing that makes my blood boil especially from a Wolves fan of all people. Was I really fighting a losing battle or does he have the quality to get in their team if he started there this season?

This is a common problem when you've been in the Premier League... you rarely acknowledge life outside it. We did for a couple of seasons after relegation, too. Long may that ignorance continue. Crab Lungs Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 And another thing... Lallana is the sort of player that will, whatever level, create you 1, 2, 3 or more good opportunities during a match. The only player they have who I can safely say would do so is Matt Jarvis... and is he as consistent? Does he get Lallana's amount of goals? No.

SuperMikey Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 He's f*cking quality, end of. He's been doing what he did yesterday for 2/3 seasons now. He is THE key player in our squad. People talk about the Fontes, Lamberts and Chamberlains, but they're all replaceable to an extent. I can't think of anyone we could replace Lallana with were we to lose him for some reason. Nobody that we could afford anyway! This is the year that Lallana cements his place as a Saints legend.

SaintBobby Posted 8 August, 2011 Share Posted 8 August, 2011 I remember watching his debut in some pre-season friendly against some European side. He was awful and substituted out of pity at half time. I said he'd never make it as a first team player. Shows how little I know about football, I suppose...
