Nice article on Saints v Leeds (Leeds Blogger)

Dunno if this has been linked, but some analysis of yesterday's game.

Leeds destroyed by Saints on opening day.

The guy has some pretty impressive things to say about Saints :-

Southampton are an excellent footballing side, in a similar mould to that of Norwich City. Comfortable on the ball, extremely well-organised at the back and able to forge concise, quick counter-attacks. Some of their passing moves throughout this game was more like watching Arsenal than a newly promoted side from League One.

Please don't tell me Leeds fans were moaning about the ref?!

Only thing worse than a really dirty side is a really dirty side then moaning about the ref. A ref playing it by the rulebook would have booked half their team and Brown about 10 times. They deserved nothing out the game, yet they were given a sympathy penalty simply because they've spent 90 minutes complaining and whining to the ref. It's as if whining to him all the time gets him to turn a blind eye to their own heavy challenges and constant dissent.

Agree totally

Adam Lullana

lol

Some of there fans make me laugh with comments about the ref, i thought he had an ok game if he followed the letter of the law the game would of been a farce as they would of had players booked and sent off.

Brown and Gradel were two that would of gone imo

Some moron on there saying their support was noisy as hell and we couldn't be heard till we were 3-0 up. I thought if anything the atmosphere went a bit flat in the 2nd half, as the game was already won. Not a bad write up, and we did play well but we'll face much tougher teams this season.

The officials were bloody awful. The ref looked an expert on matchday tuck, while the bloke who gave the penalty looked like Travis Bickle in waiting.

Christ, he had really scary eyes. Not someone you'd like to meet in a dark alley.

Their fans were superb. Even when getting a tonking on the pitch they didn't shut up, and the "we all love Leeds" chorus outsung the Northam end for quite some time. Fair play to Leeds, their team were totally outplayed but they've got proper, noisy fans.

Fair play to them indeed, but to say they didn't hear the home crowd sing until we were 3-0 up is just not true. One of the Sunday papers I read today commented on the fact that the Leeds fans went silent for a while, which was a compliment to our play and to their support, tbh. The article itself is pretty fair, the comments thereafter are with the same pink tainted glasses we have sometimes.
