Tottenham riots

What's been happening the last couple of days is in a whole different league to anything any of those you mentioned did. I'm just trying to read this again - "it's just a right of passage" - I assume you do have a tv? A right of passage, f*****g hell

The riots in the early eighties were at least as bad as whats going on now. That did spread to Southampton, but in a fairly small way. I actually drove into town in the works minivan to see for myself wtf was going on, turned out to be just a few drunken w*nkers throwing empty beercans at shop windows but it got a lot of press. The london end was something different altogether.

I'm well aware of what happened in the early 80s - but mods and rockers, Teddy Boys in the '50s, nothing like it. And describing it as a "right of passage" f***s sake, so stupid its not even funny.

I thought there were quite a few murders between the two groups? Burning down Aldi and nicking some Tvs....

Just send in the troops and shoot the ****ers. This is not a protest but anarchy, kids looting shops and whatever for their own gains. This would not be tolerated in other countrys.

Don't quite agree with shooting them, but the military needs to be involved - and the police should be battering those involved rather than just advancing with their riot shields.

They can't do this because of the goody two shoes attitude that this country has adopted.

So well done to the Daily Mail generation.

Red Ken on BBC news just now...finger on the pulse

Sounds like he's excusing the inexcusable to me. "Theres young people at college who aren't sure if they can afford to go next year because the EMA has been cut" - well, in that case, loot and burn away you little f*ckers.

Ken Livingstone is right. We need to give these people a stake in society, a reason to exist. Bulldozing them down now will work in the short term, but if we just forget about them again once this is all over the problem will persist and you'll have the same situation again in a few years time.

Ken Livingstone just saw on telly, what a ****ing stupid **** he is. Oh dear i don't have a job oh dear my work prospects are poor, i know what i'll do go and raid Currys! How can he be considred a politician?

He's partially right, although it's more to do with the fact that these guys think it's just a laugh to go and do that without getting smashed up by a copper. Plus they can make some cash off their looted goods.

This is mental. The bloke on Sky News at Clapham is funny. He just went into a branch of Boots that had been looted and found that someone had emptied the contents of a packet of immodium.

Theresa May might need some of that after saying this in September:
