Toadhall Saint Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 Won't answer direct question re. Oxo, sounds a bit ominous to me !! Not saying your concerns are unfounded but it sounded more like NA is sick and tired of discussing it - NA likes to concentrate on the team ethic and doesn't really want anything/one player dominating things. Gorgiesaint Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 Fairly short interview: Good work ethic at the club, everyone is ambitious, take each game as it comes, don't get too up if we win, too down if we lose Asked about Oxo - didn't want to talk about it, will be in training today (with rest of the squad), asked if he could confirm that he won't be an Arsenal player by the end of the week, says wants to talk about yesterday. Equally could be that there is nothing to discuss, and he'd rather talk about the players who played and got a great result - which is precisely the correct thing to do from the point of the team. jimmysaint7 Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 To be fair if u managed a team that put in a performance like we did yesterday would u really want to talk about a individual player that didn't even play

Wade Garrett Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 Thats a point in itself, was he injured? I tend to agree with those that reckon he's on his way, but who knows. I don't think he wants to play in case it jeopardises the move he wants to Arsenal. I think he cried off a bit at the end of last season as well, but Adkins covered for him. If they offer silly money for him, then in my eyes, everyone comes out a winner. Particularly his mercenary skate old man, who no doubt will trouser a fair few quid. Obviously he would be a loss, but for the sort of money we would hopefully get for him we could easily replace him.

I think he cried off a bit at the end of last season as well, but Adkins covered for him. He came off in the West Brom game with an injury & he's missed the next game. So far the only rumours have eminated from the Mirror where Darren Lewis has been spouting on since January that Oxo would move. Adkins said a month or so ago that we hadn't (at that time) had an offer from Arsenal so has anything changed? Could it be that Adkins is looking after a 19 year old and blooding him gradually rather than over playing him? Not saying you're wrong - just wondering what you've based your observation on. crouchi Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 Classic Gary questions: "Is he going then?" NA:"I don't want to talk about it (because if I say no and he does then I'll look a total prat)""; "but is he going or not?" and then the summary comes on and says "oh well he's obviously off then". Just the usual crap speculation.

Yep, exactly. This is the same paper that said ''Alex will join on the 1st of July, done, 100% etc..." Don't read anything into Adkins comments either, he never comments on speculation for incoming or outgoing players. He never has done. Adkins did confirm y/day howerver that Chambo was injured, which is why he missed the game, but he was out jogging with Barnard and the physio on thursday and friday so they're ''close''. Minsk Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 I find it somewhat amusing that the same people saying they think Chamberlain is off to Arsenal this week are the same ones who said they were sure he woulkd leave us in January, and no doubt they will say the same thing during every transfer window until he does leave; when they will tell us they were right all along! Faz Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 So why not just cull the rumour when given the chance to do so ? How the hell do you cull a rumour? What ever he said would be twisted. The best course is to do as he's done, and say nothing - and even then some will take it as a sign he's off FFS.
saintjay77 Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 If OXO stays IMO he has until January to prove to Arsenal that he is worth stumping up the cash. Ball is in their court and has been for ages. If Oxo really wants the move he needs to prove he is worth the money. Win Win for us. Either he stays and plays his best or he goes for a shed load of cash. In the mean time Adkins wont talk about it when there is a squad of players that just played as a team and won as a team and took the 1st step into a long and hard championship season. LostBoys Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 I think the Arse are doing the proverbial because they thought Barca would roll over and accept their price for Fabregas and so far they have not. This money appears to be earmarked for a number of players and may include AOC.
de-fence Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 Did anyone hear the bloke who phoned in 606 last night after the game? What an utter embarrassment to our club that was. If you are a member on here and you're reading this, do us all a favour and never comment on SFC in the mainstream media again. The Pompey fan before had already made a complete mockery of their club, he didn't need anyone to point it out. Listening to our fan trying to convince the reporter that we're the biggest club in the division, whether true or not, was one of the most unbearably cringeworthy, humiliating bits of radio I've ever heard. Sorry bout that but its off the chest..

When I have had the misfortune it just seems to be full of people who make mental comments about incidents they haven't seen or Arsenal fans from Dorset who think Wenger is useless. Dr Who? Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 I have no idea if he is leaving or not, but if the price is right why not. We could streghten our squad in other areas with the money. If £12m is the price stick on a sell on and it would be a good deal. If he stays that would be great as well. At the moment I am prepared to see the positive side to anything the club decide to do, we are on a run!!
eurosaint Posted 7 August, 2011 Share Posted 7 August, 2011 TBF he's been pretty consistent in that. I've heard him discuss the Oxo subject on so many occasions but in the 5live interview today he seemed a lot more guarded about it ! Hope I'm wrong but I just sensed that this time it was a bit different !
