Were coming for you?

Great win, finishing was clinical. Now... I watched the game on telly with the other 5k who stayed away, all you could hear was anti-pompey songs the whole game. I never realised how obsessed we are with them. Can we not sing about our own team anymore?

lol shut up. We sang just as many anti pompey as always. We had far more pro Saints. Why try and make a negitive out of nothing?

Crap, it was incessant, dirty skate bastards, we're coming for you, over and over ad nauseum. Unless of course Sky were dubbing over the other songs. Maybe it was only one part of the ground or something, but on TV it was quite clear, over and over. Quite embarrassing, spoiled what was otherwise a near perfect day. We really need to get over the fecking skates, we have bigger fish to fry than to be obsessed with them.

There was a fair bit of skate-bashing, but when was there ever not? I dont recall anyone complaining towards the end of last season when there was roughly equal "we are going up", "the saints are going up", and "pompey here we come, pompey pompey here we come"... There were plenty of others anyway, "three nil to the southerners", "who the f*ck are leeds utd" and so on, plus of course the Markus songs.

I loved the chants, they picked up really clearly on Sky. I can imagine the Skates crapping themselves at seeing how good we are. (When I say crapping themselves, I mean that stringy poo that comes out the back of goldfish.)

HOw did the atmosphere come across on the telly?

I just watched it back on Sky when I got home (sad, I know) and apart from the end of the first half where Leeds were singing non-stop, our support came across very well. Much better than I thought it would.

Of course, that nasty Mr Murdoch ordered the sound to be dubbed so the whole country thought the anti-Pompey songs were being sung all day. Stupid song, not stupid thread. I bet the fish-****ers would be laughing their faces off listening to a bunch of little hard boys singing "we're coming for you, you dirty skate bastards" over and over again. But then the irony is that skate bastards would not have been watching anyway, completely and utterly pointless chant.

Well I watched the game on TV, and the only chants that really came through were the anti-pompey ones. My Everton-supporting mate asked me why we have such an unhealthy obsession with them and I couldn't offer any kind of answer that didn't make me cringe.

I was at the game and it wasn't just anti pompey songs. I hate dismissing someone's opinion just because they weren't at the game (everyone has their reasons) but in this case you're just plain wrong.

I thought it was a great atmosphere, good noise from us and Leeds fans were decent as usual despite thier teams performance, cant believe people can find something to moan about today.

Have you ever visited goodison park and not heard the everton fans singing anti-liverpool chants? That might have been a good starting point for you.

Yes I have thanks. Look, I'm not deliberately trying to put a damper on an otherwise brilliant day - I'm just repeating what I witnessed and what happened. When fans of other clubs start questioning why our fans are more vocal in their dislike of our rivals than they are in support of our own team, you have to wonder why there is such an unhealthy obsession.

Sorry if this offends anyone.

I read this thread before watching the game back on sky + and decided to do a quick tally... so far 43 mins in... more positive songs (OWTS/ Lallana etc) than anti Pompey.

Didn't count at the time cos I was just busy joining in with whatever songs came our way trying to drown out 'We all love Leeds'.

BTW every3rd song at Old Trafford is either anti |City/Liverpool/ Leeds.

And let's be honest.. they're the loudest and most original away fans we've ever heard at St Mary's...

We want to be back above them, we have been behind them for 7 years. I think that we did sing this song a lot, but it is a very loud and impressive song to sing. We sung many other songs and it was cracking today, all round I could not complain about anything!! FANTASTIC DAY.......even the programme!! lol

I have got irritated in the past about anti-skate songs being all that's sung, but today they only comprised roughly a quarter of all songs and chants, which is fine.

Couldn't give a toss whether other fans think we sing about Pompey too much. Within limits I enjoy it.

I watched online and you could definitely hear the usual array of pro Saints songs. The atmosphere sounded great and I wish I could have been there. There are always going to be anti Skate songs, just like there are always anti Saints songs at Nottarf, but to say there were more anti Skate songs yesterday than there were pro Saints is odd 'cause even I could tell that wasn't the case.

Some people just love to whinge and moan. "It ruined my day"... oh for goodness sake!

I was at the game today. I did think there was a lot of anti-Pompey chants. I don't mind them but would prefer we sang less about Pompey to be honest (especially when we're not playing them). Each to their own I suppose. Do the Skates sing about us as much as we do about them?

At the dnd if the day though, I would rather than a sing/chanting crowd than a quiet one.

Just suggesting a starting point for the discussion with your mate, I wasnt having a pop at you. All clubs sing songs sl*gging off their rivals no matter who their playing, everton included, I'd have thought youd be well within your rights to have pointed that out to him/her.

Personally I enjoyed the Pompey chant. I don't think anyone much else really knows who the 'Skates' are anyway. So its sort of personal to them. Given how they have dragged the national game through the dirt and flicked the V's at everyone I really hope their stinking cesspit of a club and their mong bell ringing supporters get stuffed out of sight when we meet them this season. Does no harm to remind them that they will get their comeuppance and who better to do it than us.

I'm usually on the side of those who don't like the Pompey songs, but yesterday it was spot-on. For the first time in a while we're in the same league, we're clearly the better of the two teams and there is absolutely no reason to think we wont play them and win, easily. Given they are our dearest of all enemies, they have been more than happy to remind us when they were on top, calling them out just felt right.

How about some of you whingers who watched it on TV actually go to the game, then I think you have a valid opinion!

I have supported Saints since God was a child and I live in Aus/NZ/USA/Ireland etc etc and can't go to a game and therefore my opinion doesn't count? Get real ffs! He has as much right to comment on Saints as anyone that goes to every home and away game, buys 50 items a year from the club shop, takes his match day prog' to bed with him/her all week!

I detest Saints fans singing about Pompey (what the **** have they got to do with us?) but accept that it will be sung at our games. I don't think about Pompey all year long until we play them! I don't even bother to look for them in the table. Sadly, some of you need to have something in your lives to hate.

I'm not obsessed about Pompey, and don't always join in with the pompey songs but quite frankly I couldn't give a flying **** what anyone who wasn't at the game today thought. If you want to go to a game and start a few chants then be my guest otherwise shut up.

This.

There were a fair few anti-Skate songs flying about today, but if you want to stand up and contribute something better then be my guest....
