Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 After Jay Rod scored 4 goals the other night, he got the ball autographed. Why did a team mate write "bye bye Jayrod" on it? Is that the signature of Danny Fox? Or is it somebody in the know that he is offski? Fox says he didn't know of Saints interest until the day after this pic was taken I believe? Thedelldays Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 form the rumours site 12 Aug 2011 15:16:28 11 Aug 2011 20:11:02 Saints are set to sign Nicky Maynard after they are in advanced talks with Bristol City about agreeing a fee (discussing appearance and goals add ons) while a fee of £5.25million is close to being accepted. IF Southampton are willing to pay that with no player exchange just hard cash, i will happily drive Nicky Maynard down there. 12 Aug 2011 15:30:25 Jay Rodriguez to sign monday for fee of 4.5 mil. He will sign a 4 year deal. Joe cole also interested in listening to Southampton as well as westham. Although westham was his first team he is likely to sign for southampton on 40K a week 2 year deal. 12 Aug 2011 13:36:50 Jay Rodriguez is going to be announced as a southampton player in the next 3 hours. Fee 4.5 mill 4 yr contract. 12 Aug 2011 13:34:32 Jay Rodriguez is to join Southampton from burnley for 4.7M after weekends games are complete 12 Aug 2011 13:24:46 I know Southampton fans on here are exicited their team is back in the Championship, have started well and sold your brightest prostect for good money. However, please stop posting unrelasitic targets it's getting boring now. 12 Aug 2011 11:32:29 11 Aug 2011 21:02:44 Former Southampton striker Grzegorz Rasiak is set to be offered a trial at league one side Walsall after failing to earn a contract while on trial at Charlton ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What a load of rubbish when he's gone back home to Poland 12 Aug 2011 06:30:07 Southampton look set to make an ambitious move for former everton defender Lucas Neill who is available on a free transfer. 12 Aug 2011 05:41:25 Southampton left-back Ryan Dickson is heading back to Brentford following the Saints' signing of Danny Fox from Burnley. 12 Aug 2011 03:02:34 With a distinct lack of prem interest, Joe Cole is now looking to the Championship to resurrect his career. He has been in serious discussions with Leicester, Saints, and WHU over a move. There was also interest from Forest, but Cole wouldn't discuss a move with them as he doesn't think McClaren is a competent coach. As of right now it is thought he favours a move back to West Ham, but is growing frustrated at their insistence that they sell one of their higher earners (Parker , Cole or Green) before moving the deal on. Sources say that this hesitation could lead to Southampton winning the race for the England star as he likes their style of play and was impressed with their manager, who sees Cole's mix of technical skill and experience as a potential difference maker in a promotion push. In other Championship transfer news here are some thins I, along with other itks have heard are in the pipeline. Leicester - Robbie Keane to sign within the next 7 days Southampton - Nicky Maynard move to be completed next week as could the signing of Anton Ferdinand. Burnley - Ryan Shotton as well as Danny Ings to sign imminently Rodriguez going nowhere Portsmouth - Martyn Waghorn is in discussions after they had a bid accepted WHU - Kevin Davies and El-Hadji Diouf to reunite with Sam allardyce before window's end

Personally, I don't think Burnley can sell him until they've got another striker sorted out. Paterson is injured at the moment and they are quite short on numbers. benjii Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 Cortese NEVER does transfers in public, they are only announced when completed Of course things are only announced once completed; that's something of a truism. The notion, however, that if a deal gets into the public domain we won't complete it has been shown to be carp recently. Both Cork and Fox were unambiguously linked in the media before we announced their signings.

InvictaSaint Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 “The only players we have sold are those who didn’t want to be at Burnley.” This is the important bit I feel Sussex Saint's highlighted quotation is the most important element and is simply Burnley preparing, in a thinly disguised manner, for a potential / likely sale of Rodriguez in the next fortnight. As we saw with AOC and with so many other players elsewhere, the minute the player says he wants to go, you pretty much know it's going to happen. Watch this space I suppose.... SuperSAINT Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 Maynard it is then. I'd have Maynard over Rodriguez myself (Fulfills the pacey striker requirement we need). Saint Charlie Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 We are probably 'interested' in both and are keeping our options open. If things don't work out with one then we go ahead with the other. Exactly. Burnley are just trying to push up the price, or force their player into a transfer request to appease their fans. Both JR and NM are better than Billy Sharp IMO, either would be a great buy.

Matthew Le God Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 (edited) Skysports understands Burnley are closing in on the signing of Danny Ings from Bournemouth. Probably were going for him anyway, but could mean they are resigned to losing JRod. Martin Paterson is out for a long time, so could possibly be for that. At the moment they are really down to just Rodriguez and Austin for strikers. Of course it might be that they are looking to get Ings and someone else, should Rodriguez leave.
