S-Clarke Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 Only Taxi talk but A driver who has just dropped me home says he had picked up EB from Eastleigh Airport at 2pm but would not tell me where he took him also Gorkks is is town and will be unveiled before KO tomorrow. Maybe Bullpoo maybe not. Good old taxi driver rumours! Gorrks deal doesn't look like happening, he wants to stay at QPR - confirmed by solent.
sfc1971 Posted 5 August, 2011 Author Posted 5 August, 2011 Said driver seemed pretty genuine and knew his Football also said EB had a slight limp poss injured ?
S-Clarke Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 Said driver seemed pretty genuine and knew his Football also said EB had a slight limp poss injured ? He's been injured on and off for the past 18 months, would be a big gamble. Would only really look at a loan deal myself.
sfc1971 Posted 5 August, 2011 Author Posted 5 August, 2011 Just done a bit of googling and S Clarke is correct been injured in Wolves prem time but has good record in Champ, Can`t see us signing him maybe Skates ?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 Total BS as Wolves wouldn't let him go, BUT, would be a terrific signing. More proven than Maynard and Sharp really, strong, fast. Hasn't had much luck with injury and it doesn't help that Wolves spend their Premier League lives too terrified to ever play 2 strikers. Although McCarthy did have a strop recently because he was told to reduce the size of his squad and EB himself maybe getting a little bored of being 3rd choice in a team which plays with only 1 striker unless absolutely necessary. Rumour is not as crazy as it sounds, methinks. The Gorkss thing also rings true. Yes, it looks like it's not going to happen now but the plan might have been to unveil the lad tomorrow.
Fan The Flames Posted 6 August, 2011 Posted 6 August, 2011 Said driver seemed pretty genuine and knew his Football also said EB had a slight limp poss injured ? JustMike Posted 6 August, 2011 Posted 6 August, 2011 What do you know justmike? i know nothing, including what was confirmed on Solent
saints-cris Posted 6 August, 2011 Posted 6 August, 2011 A good old taxi driver rumour.. one day one of them will come true!
capitalsaint Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 What do you know justmike? Now answer truthfully.
SaintNeil90 Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 As if a TAXI DRIVER would know anything. Really do you think that clubs these days use Taxis to get players to the ground for talks. NO... they use their own drivers!
Colinjb Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 As if a TAXI DRIVER would know anything. Really do you think that clubs these days use Taxis to get players to the ground for talks. NO... they use their own drivers! It's a good conversation starter though, more chance of earning a tip of you feel grateful to the driver for any information they may have. "Oh, alright mush, Saints fan? Blinding, I had that.... Sergio Tevez in the back of the car today.... took him straight to St Mary's.... yeah mate.....'
Dalek2003 Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 It's a good conversation starter though, more chance of earning a tip of you feel grateful to the driver for any information they may have. "Oh, alright mush, Saints fan? Blinding, I had that.... Sergio Tevez in the back of the car today.... took him straight to St Mary's.... yeah mate.....' More like it. Was told once that Hoddle was going to be manager of Norwich.
Wadge Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 E-Banks Blake is an absolute work horse, when Wolves beat Liverpool at anfield last season he worked his absolute socks off, he was all over the defence for 90 minutes, still chasing the full backs down in the 92nd minute. Not sure if he is the type of striker that will compliment Rickie though. My Wolves supporting mate told me earlier in the week that he is indeed 3rd choice striker and will start season on bench.
sussexsaint Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 As if a TAXI DRIVER would know anything. Really do you think that clubs these days use Taxis to get players to the ground for talks. NO... they use their own drivers! To be fair people were trying to put Guly in a taxi this time last year
Turkish Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 As if a TAXI DRIVER would know anything. Really do you think that clubs these days use Taxis to get players to the ground for talks. NO... they use their own drivers! They do actually.

Crazy Diamond Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 Is it possible to establish what was 'confirmed on Radio Solent'? If he's in good shape and over his recent injuries, great signing.
K,Billy's supersound Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 i would really like this to happen i believe he could do really well in our team, big strong and pacy scores goal's at this level. imo he is much better than maynard, sharp or any other we have been linked with and would be well worth 3.5million.
VectisSaint Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 It's a good conversation starter though, more chance of earning a tip of you feel grateful to the driver for any information they may have. "Oh, alright mush, Saints fan? Blinding, I had that.... Sergio Tevez in the back of the car today.... took him straight to St Mary's.... yeah mate.....' Is Sergio Tevez any good? Hope he's not homesick like his namesake.
capitalsaint Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 Who cares about the player? The real tussle is between these two threads. Go team 'Ebanks-Blake'!
The Kraken Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 As if a TAXI DRIVER would know anything. Really do you think that clubs these days use Taxis to get players to the ground for talks. NO... they use their own drivers! Oh dear. You really don't know too much, do you?
capitalsaint Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 Have you not been watching the news recently? It's about greed not need. I want three.
Prince Jazzbo Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 I picked Steve Williams up several times and gave him a lift. I wonder if he's going to sign?
Pilchards Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 Might have some legs this one. I mentioned two days ago on the shopping list thread we had two large bids excepted for players (one from a premiership team) before the Oxy deal went through and they was done and dusted with the players agreeing terms. The hold up was like buying a house I was told, basically we need to watch the market move he said. So who are Wolves bringing in might be the question?
dubai_phil Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 I picked Steve Williams up several times and gave him a lift. I wonder if he's going to sign? No chance. He's far too happy with Adam Scott at the moment and working on his upcoming book release - Tiger, my part in his sexploits.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 why do we need 2 thread on this? One thread covers Ebanks the other focuses on Blake.
St.Patrik Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 As usual you have good info Pilchars - it looks like Wolves are trying to get Robbie Keane on loan from Spuds http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/872048-wolves-eye-robbie-keane-loan-move-as-blackburn-consider-formal-offer
Giordano Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 Ebanks is a good player but he's no replacement for Lambo if that is a characteristic we are looking for in a striker - hes only 5ft 8" so hes actually an alternative to connolly/barnard i would say. The obvious wolves striker that might be back up for Lambo is Sam Vokes of course...ex cherries 6ft 2" oft loaned out....Fletcher is the superstar option up front but no chance of getting him i'd say.

Did we say he was replacing Lambert? He is quick and a powerhouse with a record at this level, if the chance to sign him comes up to sign Sylvan, do it.

I would suggest after targeting Billy Sharp, Nicky Maynard and Jay Rodriguez during the summer that Ebanks-Blake is exactly what we're looking for. If fit, Lambert is going to start most matches and Guly can fill in for him if not, but what we're really missing upfront is that extra bit of pace, especially now Chamberlain has left, so someone with those qualities is what Adkins will be looking for.

He's an alternative to all of them - he has pace that the others dont (though Connolly's quick in terms of pinching that first yard/reading the game). I assume that's why we might be interested in him (along with being proven in NPC). No reason, EB couldn't be used as a targetman. He's strong and can hold the ball up, though he's tended to worked better when playing with a big man i.e. Iwelumo who can win flicks for him to chase.
St.Patrik Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 fourth_official just posted on Twitter that he made a bet for Saints to be promoted this year - and we will soon know why - exiting stuff : )

Norm Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 Take it easy now Norm - don´t explode with anger ; ) Hello Patrik! My excuse for being on here mid afternoon is that I'm retired but you should be at work. I'm pleased to see that you are first with a lot of the gossip. Hope you and your 'girls' are all well.

Golden Balls Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 As if a TAXI DRIVER would know anything. Really do you think that clubs these days use Taxis to get players to the ground for talks. NO... they use their own drivers! My dad is a TAXI DRIVER and picked up Kevin Phillips before he signed. He then picked him up again to take him to Ocean Village to look at a flat. Do you really think our club employs someone to pick up potential signings a few times a year? Go on SaintsPlayer. Fox said he drove down last night with his dad.
patred44 Posted 11 August, 2011 Posted 11 August, 2011 Burnley local paper revealed we had tabled a bid for E/BANKS/BLAKE instead of Jay Rodriques this afternoon http://www.burnleyexpress.net/sport/football/burnley-fc/burnley_fc_sell_danny_fox_to_southampton_1_3670945
