Good old taxi driver rumours! Gorrks deal doesn't look like happening, he wants to stay at QPR - confirmed by solent.

Total BS as Wolves wouldn't let him go, BUT, would be a terrific signing. More proven than Maynard and Sharp really, strong, fast. Hasn't had much luck with injury and it doesn't help that Wolves spend their Premier League lives too terrified to ever play 2 strikers.

Although McCarthy did have a strop recently because he was told to reduce the size of his squad and EB himself maybe getting a little bored of being 3rd choice in a team which plays with only 1 striker unless absolutely necessary. Rumour is not as crazy as it sounds, methinks.

The Gorkss thing also rings true. Yes, it looks like it's not going to happen now but the plan might have been to unveil the lad tomorrow.

As if a TAXI DRIVER would know anything. Really do you think that clubs these days use Taxis to get players to the ground for talks. NO... they use their own drivers!

It's a good conversation starter though, more chance of earning a tip of you feel grateful to the driver for any information they may have.

"Oh, alright mush, Saints fan? Blinding, I had that.... Sergio Tevez in the back of the car today.... took him straight to St Mary's.... yeah mate.....'

More like it. Was told once that Hoddle was going to be manager of Norwich.

E-Banks Blake is an absolute work horse, when Wolves beat Liverpool at anfield last season he worked his absolute socks off, he was all over the defence for 90 minutes, still chasing the full backs down in the 92nd minute. Not sure if he is the type of striker that will compliment Rickie though. My Wolves supporting mate told me earlier in the week that he is indeed 3rd choice striker and will start season on bench.

Is Sergio Tevez any good? Hope he's not homesick like his namesake.

Might have some legs this one.

I mentioned two days ago on the shopping list thread we had two large bids excepted for players (one from a premiership team) before the Oxy deal went through and they was done and dusted with the players agreeing terms.

The hold up was like buying a house I was told, basically we need to watch the market move he said.

So who are Wolves bringing in might be the question?

Ebanks is a good player but he's no replacement for Lambo if that is a characteristic we are looking for in a striker - hes only 5ft 8" so hes actually an alternative to connolly/barnard i would say. The obvious wolves striker that might be back up for Lambo is Sam Vokes of course...ex cherries 6ft 2" oft loaned out....Fletcher is the superstar option up front but no chance of getting him i'd say.

Did we say he was replacing Lambert? He is quick and a powerhouse with a record at this level, if the chance to sign him comes up to sign Sylvan, do it.

I would suggest after targeting Billy Sharp, Nicky Maynard and Jay Rodriguez during the summer that Ebanks-Blake is exactly what we're looking for.

If fit, Lambert is going to start most matches and Guly can fill in for him if not, but what we're really missing upfront is that extra bit of pace, especially now Chamberlain has left, so someone with those qualities is what Adkins will be looking for.

He's an alternative to all of them - he has pace that the others dont (though Connolly's quick in terms of pinching that first yard/reading the game). I assume that's why we might be interested in him (along with being proven in NPC).

No reason, EB couldn't be used as a targetman. He's strong and can hold the ball up, though he's tended to worked better when playing with a big man i.e. Iwelumo who can win flicks for him to chase.

Take it easy now Norm - don´t explode with anger ; )

Hello Patrik! My excuse for being on here mid afternoon is that I'm retired but you should be at work. I'm pleased to see that you are first with a lot of the gossip.

Hope you and your 'girls' are all well.

My dad is a TAXI DRIVER and picked up Kevin Phillips before he signed.

He then picked him up again to take him to Ocean Village to look at a flat.

Do you really think our club employs someone to pick up potential signings a few times a year?

Go on SaintsPlayer. Fox said he drove down last night with his dad.
