eurosaint Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 I noticed on Sky sports news last night in the Chelsea 'players out' section that Cork was sold for £750k. As far as I know Saints said 'undisclosed' but in any case that seems to be a pretty good deal for an in-demand young midfielder ! If we get similar money for Puncheon (as is being mooted!) then the books are being niicely balanced ! It is also maybe a reason why our transfer dealings seem so protracted but at least the club is getting the best possible value ??
Rusaldo Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 Yep seen that, my reaction was "£750k, is that all" very good deal if correct.

Huntingdon Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 I should imagine there's numerous add ons, and I bet his wages a fairly big I say this because Burnley desperately wanted him, but couldn't seem to afford him. £750k is a snip, and I'm Burnley could have made that quite easily
Mozz Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 Worth noting that Burnley's OS at the time of the signing referenced that they made a seven figure offer that was rejected by Chelsea so would be surprised if it was actually £750K.

Glasgow_Saint Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 sell him to Burnley for 1.1m and booom you've made a nice tidy profit
Saint-Armstrong Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 Stupid Northerners probably thought a seven-figure fee was a fee that started with 7... £750K
S-Clarke Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 I'd imagine it was 750k initial payment, then lots of clauses based on appearances, international apps, promotion clause etc, which could have easily taken the fee to upwards of £2m. david in sweden Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 But we've no idea how much we signed De Ridder for........ I suspect this could have been upwards of £2 million when this deal was still in discussion stage ...I found a GERMAN football site that listed Euro clubs and De Ridder was valued at ........850,000 EUROS ...how much is that in real money? (£)
31GARRY Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 I think it was a quote from Burnley football club made to a local newspaper. It said something like "the fee is not so much a problem, but with wages and the fact chelsea are insisting on a 40 percent sell on which is creating a stumbling block" Probaly not word for word but it was very close to that. Link was on this site to a Burnley forum.

S-Clarke Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 Cheap price. If De Ridder was around the same then I'd hope there's plenty of money left. If we offered £3.5m for Sharp then there must be a fair bit. Would be good to have a kitty for January to bolster the season. That's a really good point there. Would people rather we blew our entire budget in the summer, or just added one or 2 additions..... then see where we are in January, but still have a significant amount to play with if we want to ''go for it'' I know what i'd go for! Faz Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 850,000 Euro = £740,000 What time was that? By tonight it'll be £500,000. By the weekend Germany will be asking to join the Pound.

Clifford Nelson Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 The first news about Cork came from Chelsea. They had received and accepted two bids of £750K. I'm not sure who the other club was, but after that it was only a matter of convincing the player. We don't have to guess, that was the price. sotonist Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 Maybe Burnley offered a deal that started less than 750k but rose to seven figures based on promotion (ha)

The Godfather Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 Most transfer fees get accepted based on how much is being payed up front, then with the add-ons. I bet Burnley offered most of the total final fee based on add-ons.
