Rory Posted 4 August, 2011 Posted 4 August, 2011 I was watching nostalgic goals of the 90s on ESPN Classic the other day and David Weatherall popped up with a diving header. I seem to remember we were very interested in signing him, maybe even perhaps talking to him before he chose Bradford City. But he turned us down and we turned to Dean Richards. Funny how football turns out.
stthrobber Posted 4 August, 2011 Posted 4 August, 2011 I believe we were indeed talking to him about signing, but as I remember, he wanted to stay up in Yorkshire for family reasons so he chose Bradford City. I think he would have done a good job for us too. I don't remember if him turning us down was a catalyst for us signing Deano, but if it was, we did very well out of it
L1Minus10 Posted 4 August, 2011 Posted 4 August, 2011 He came down, did a medical, then decided it was too far away. It must have moved further away in the meantime. Then he signed for Bradford on big money and was always injured. We dodged a bullet there.
Paul Chuckle Posted 4 August, 2011 Posted 4 August, 2011 I didn't think he was always injured, just lOoked on Wiki and he played over 300 games for Bradford??? Scored the winner to keep them up in 2000. Even though us beating Wimbledon helped!
