saints-cris Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 After a easy Saints win im in a good mood, after a really good win im normally buzzing for a good hour or so and i stay in a good mood for the rest of the evening. A bad loss and it normally takes a good hour or two to shake it off What are the rest of you like?
thorpie the sinner Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 Great post!!! I am the worst, we get defeated on sat and I sulk unashamedly throughout tea, kicking my chair under table, I carry it on through til 8 ish, then finally feel the total anger subside a tad! I lock it up from there on in until I read papers next day and it starts again lol!!! Win, and I am the happiest Dad alive!! Bloody stupid huh?? smackalec Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 For me my whole week is dependent on the teams performance. Win and the world is a better place. Lose and I become as miserable as possible. Nothing effects my mood more than saints.
doddisalegend Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 I usual like to come on here and vent if we lose, though sadly that is usually taken badly by some of the posters on here. Wierdly the bad mood at losing seems to last longer than the feel good mood of winning.
Brussels Saint Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 (edited) Quite a lot for me to be honest. Bizarrely this tends to manifest itself in how likely the missus is to get some action. Saints win, I jump on her, Saints lose, its like I've just swallowed a couple of Bromide tablets. Saints win 3-0, crack open the vaseline!! krissyboy31 Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 I'm a miserable git at the best of times but unbearable for a couple of days if Saints lose (especially if it's a game they are expected to win).
jamesfp1 Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 When we win I am in the best mood I can be in for the rest of the evening - lasts a day or two, when we lose I feel as if I have lost my job, been raped and burgled in the space of an hour and that saints are fully responsible for all three - usually lasts until the next win. Griff62 Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 I think it depends on the expectation of the game. If we are away to Man U and we lose then I won't be to upset but if we lose at home to Rochdale I'll be in a foul mood for days.
ericofarabia Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 After a good win I'm as happy as could be - until i come on here and read how crap the keeper/defence were despite the clean sheet against the most potent attack force in the league, how woefully inept the midfield were although each one of them set up a goal for the forwards and as for those 2 up front only 2 goals each against the best defence in the league - pathetic. And what about the manager - useless tactics, it was sheer bad luck for the home team to lose their 2 year long unbeaten by 4 - 0 to us. Pass me the shaving blades please, i can't take anymore of this!!
CitySaint Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 My whole day is affected by results and even news stories in close season. I was not the best company at work when the chamberlain leaving sun/mirror stories circulated, silly really.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 I tend to try to take the long view. Results are not so much of an issue - it's the manner of the performance. If I think the team have not given a toss performance-wise then I am likely to be in a bad mood. Having said that, a win certainly does seem to brighten the day somewhat - it enhances the feelings of optimism I guess.
Wycombe Saint Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 I am normally angry for an hour or so if we lose and then i snap out of it, until i come on here and see all the moaning about the upcoming apocolypse etc.
Chez Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 I take every defeat relatively on the chin these days, but I store that hurt up waiting for the day when we come back from 2-0 down and win. When that happens then I'm off the scale in terms of buzz and happiness. Painful defeats to local neighbours are deep in my conscious and just waiting to be exorcised. Experiencing the lows makes the highs that much better in other words.
sussexsaint Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 Good thread, nice to know not alone in this. usually lasts the rest of the day , can trickle on for a day or so depending on how great the win or painful the loss.(It still hurts a little bit that we lost our 3-0 loss to Leeds, ) Strangely I don't even have to listen to the match - even if I'm on hols and find the score somewhere it has the same effect BTW the mood is made 50,000x f'ing time worse if my SWMBO says 'ah well they can't win them all' or' a draws not bad is it' S'all part of football though isn't it? Big_Bald_Si Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 Really depends on the manner of the win/loss. For example, I pretty much creamed my pants after we over-turned a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 at home to MK Dons, but wasn't too bothered about our 3-2 over Hartlepool at home the season before. Recall the game when we got relegated from the Premier League. My old man and I didn't say a word to each other for a good 4/5 hours afterwards. Saint-Armstrong Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 I look forward to every matchday, and it's normally the best part of the week. Saturday's are always the best and I enjoy being at the football or listening to it on the radio. If we win I am really happy going into the next week. If we lose I am normally upset but then can't wait for the next game. It's an addiction.

Then i come on here and p*ss a few people off with annoyingly 'it'll be alright next week' comments. ;~) LOL. For me that's what the post match thread is for. If we lose it's the place for me to vent or for you to decide it's going to be better next week. If we win it's were I can get over excited and claim we're gone win the league. For some reason though some posters get really upset with the post match ramblings of fellow posters. It's if they don't realise most of us are just spouting off while still in the grips of post match depression/euphoria.

The9 Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 I think my ability to compartmentalise things allows me to mostly not be affected by Saints' results afterwards. I can usually find some positives in most performances, and rationalise why we've lost without getting mental about it, and the over-reaction to defeats on here annoys me significantly more than the defeat itself nowadays. I haven't yet lost my ability to go utterly mental with excitement actually during the match though, and my underpinning level of cheerfulness is still slightly impacted by defeats, though we've had so many of them over the years I'm kinda used to it. scott_saints Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 If we lose I am usually p1ssed off and wont speak too much for an hour or 2. If we win then I am buzzing and will be unrealistically optimistic and over excited about the next game!

Gigersaint Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 Good thread. Saints performances pretty much do have an effect on my mood, but usually only for the first few hours after and often like this... After a win I’ll be in a great mood, the Mrs and the kids often get treats and I think they know that it’s the best time to ask for me for anything they want. Positive from the win I’ll usually play about with the League predictor and change games I’d previously had as a draw into a win and look forward to the next few games to see us climb the table. Following on with happily drinking lots of beers and waiting for highlights on TV before going to bed for some fun with the Mrs. Should we lose, I’m apparently a grumpy miserable bastard. I can unintentionally be a bit snappy at the Mrs and the kids and they all go off to different rooms and leave me alone. With negativity, I then go on League predictors to change games I thought we’d win or draw into losses and dread the next few games that could see us drop down the table. Following on with miserably drinking a few beers and moaning to myself at the highlights on TV before falling asleep on the sofa.

SFCDan Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 Depends, if it's a routine win or loss then I'll be happy/sad for the rest of the day, but stuff like the win over MK Dons and similar big wins keep me buzzing for days, just like the 2-0 loss to Rochdale and the 4-1 loss over a team whose name escapes me had me contemplating tossing myself off the Itchen Bridge for longer than most losses. MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 3 August, 2011 Share Posted 3 August, 2011 For me it depends a heck of a lot on if I went to the game. I go to all the home games and a handful of away games. If we lose at home, I am in a proper sh!t mood and it normally stays until I can correct by playing football myself, which will then dictate how I feel after, playing rubbish myself prolongs it. However if we lose away and at a game I have travelled miles for, i.ie Rochdale last season, I just couldn't get down about it. I laughed in fact, just one of those games where it was never going to go foe us and a 5 hour return journey was hardly worth being upset for. If we win though, I go home and play Football Manager or Pro Evo

A bad loss and it normally takes a good hour or two to shake it off What are the rest of you like? If you mean, does anyone sit waiting for results playing Russian roulette with a loaded gun..? then the answer is NO! Personally, as a fan of 50 years standing (most of it under the West Stand at the Dell) ..my answer is ...I'm philosophical about it. Promotion and Cup runs are nice. Survival is comforting, but " success" is more about luck than just having a good squad.
saint lard Posted 4 August, 2011 Share Posted 4 August, 2011 Due to my living in close proimity to Skatesville and my work colleague are members of the blue few my life is made bloody awful at work when we lose. However more recently, due to thier financial dificulties/irregularities i have managed to cut them down to size. This coming season should be interesting as there will be a little more parity between the two clubs. I will dread it when we lose and they win on a weekend, however my revenge will be swift, cutting and painful.
