I agree, they should name a stand or something after him, But the club obviously didnt want to do that. This is something that the fans have done (mainly from this forum) to say thankyou personally, I think it's a good touch and be great to show the world that we're not owned by a dodgy foreign owner DWLSL4328943820432904839...............WIFM

Like i said fair play to the people who have paid, just think flags on the whole are very gay. I would be p1ssed off if that was going ovr my head before kick off in the scorching heat.

Yes you are right the Kop looks terrible when all the flags are out on a European night.

So would I.

Have the club given the go ahead for this to occur? In this health and safety mad age in which we live i'd be surprised if it was allowed.

What if the stadium needed evacuating? Or what if someone needed mediacl assistance whilst enveloped in a sea of ployester?

2 things here:

1) It would be over your head in about 20 seconds

2) It's England. There is no scorching heat.

Yes, I had forgotten about all those football stadium evacuations that happen on a regular basis.

could we cut down on the cheering as well, far too many people seem to be having fun, it's just not on.

Polite applause IF deserved is a far more dignified way of displaying emotion, and that's only if we really have to get involved in that whole soppy side of things.

I recall when Barnard scored the winner against MK Dons I just caught his eye and gave him a simple nod of my approval, though he was too busy walking over to the supplier of the cross for a sturdy handshake.

This flag organised by the fans for the fans as a thank you that we were not able to give personally is the thin end of the wedge, I feel so strongly I may be overcome with rage and forced to hold my fist out with the thumb pointing downwards.

You'll be telling me next that grown men shed tears when Matt scored against Arsenal.

Or presumably replica shirts, scarves, badges, rosettes, leisurewear, gnomes etc..............?

Leisure wear if doing sport...

I have family members and friends that do, but in my opinion a grown man wearing a football shirt needs to have a word with themselves.

Sorry. I am confused. Are grown men wearing replica shirts and Saints leisurewear also homosexualists or is it JUST flag-wavers?

A cheer or a tear is an emotion... Yet again its just me but i fail to see how wearing a football shirt or waving a flag will create an advantage over the other side? Now a song, or a loud aggresive receptioon towards a side does.

Next your be saying everyone should take an inflatable fish to the pompey game??

All of it is a bit alien to me, i did in my younger supporting years but now fail to see the point behind it.

I own saints shorts and socks etc but use them when at the gym, sat by the pool, or football training. But when drinking in a pub i'd rather make myself look a little bit smarter. Especially if the potential for m1nge arrises.

Don't go giving them any ideas...

I remember at the pompey game, whilst in there escort back to the station we had people stood on the side of the road waving the JPT flags at them singing que sera sera, i cringed more than at any other point in my life. Beaten 4-1 they were premier league, on route to the f a cup final and we were singing about the jpt final.

ffs some real boring fooks on here.

ooh I dont want the flag over my head I might mess up my hair do or miss a photo of the players shaking hands.

I hope they have it on Sat will be great for opening game the season and add to the atmosphere.

may even leave pub to get there 10mins before kick off to see it instead of arriving just before ko.

That is beside the point.

Actually that is exactly the point. Potential Health and Safety issues are supposed to be weighed against the chances/likelyhood of something going wrong. The chances of something going wrong with a big flag are extremely minimal.

Unfortunately whats happened is people are afraid of the culture of blame, which means anything with at least a 0.0001% chance of going wrong is labelled as a Health an Safety risk to cover everyones backsides.

The other thing is that people have become used to this over-protection and so instead of thinking "is a big flag really going to hurt me, ummmm, no" they panic about their chances of getting hurt.

The pub is normally wall to wall m1nge a hour before kick off on match day and I'm stuck there thinking "if only I wasn't wearing a football shirt".
