bowers-sfc Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 Billy sharp will be a Pompey player by Wednesday, cotterill and drisscol are good friends and was offered to Pompey. Sharp won't sign a new contract because donny can't accept some of the demands in his contract. ( wages, goal bonus, sell on fee, signing on fee is the major stumbling block though )
itchen Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 They cannot afford £3.5m, so he won't go there. I thought they were loaded now?
Thedelldays Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 They cannot afford £3.5m, so he won't go there. this is football...nothing will surprise me
bowers-sfc Posted 1 August, 2011 Author Posted 1 August, 2011 They have alot more money then I'd like them to have
stevegrant Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 Didn't Sharp turn us down because he didn't want to move south?
SNSUN Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 And he wanted to wait for an offer from the Premiership.
latter day saint Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 And the skates have £3.25m to stump up ? weren't they rumoured to bid near that amount for Patterson from Burnley ?
Badger Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 Joking aside though, the £3m+ was at a time Doncaster were seeking to renew his contract. If they now know they can't then perhaps the fee will come tumbling back to more realistic levels. Seems that Billy-boy might have thought he was driving a hard bargain when Saints had a bid accepted but his demands could have scuppered that for him. Remember an interview he gave a week or so ago, someone on here suggested that was a 'can we talk again' type of interview although I suspect NA/NC have moved on. Tough titty Billy. Not that he will sign for Skates at the sort of fee he will fetch even now.
Badger Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 Didn't Sharp turn us down because he didn't want to move south? But skatesville probably does seem a lot closer, culturally, to say Widnes or Murkeyside than anywhere else in the south.
smithy Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 But skatesville probably does seem a lot closer, culturally, to say Widnes or Murkeyside than anywhere else in the south. Made me laugh.
ottery st mary Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 To be fair to Good old Pompey they can get him on the never never as they always pay up at the end of the day....
SNSUN Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 Portsmouth's branch of Rymans must be wondering why plain brown envelopes are their best seller.
hasper57saint Posted 1 August, 2011 Posted 1 August, 2011 I've already posted previously on this. Saints wouldn't accept his ridiculous 'Wage' demand.
OldNick Posted 2 August, 2011 Posted 2 August, 2011 Driscoll and Cotterill had a massive fall out and have a dislike for each other, if the war of words from last seasons games have anything to go by
SaintRichmond Posted 2 August, 2011 Posted 2 August, 2011 They cannot afford £3.5m, so he won't go there. What makes you say that ??? They couldn't afford £150M, but they still spent it And the Sweet F A did Sweet F A ..... as usual
trousers Posted 2 August, 2011 Posted 2 August, 2011 And here was me thinking this was a Saints forum..... ;-)
Big Bad Bob Posted 2 August, 2011 Posted 2 August, 2011 And here was me thinking this was a Saints forum..... ;-)
Pat from Poole Posted 2 August, 2011 Posted 2 August, 2011 Driscoll and Cotterill had a massive fall out and have a dislike for each other, if the war of words from last seasons games have anything to go by Vaguely remember this. I can recall Cotterill being asked by Solent how he got on with O'Driscoll, with them both having been ex-Boscombe players, and Cotterill didn't want to answer the question, clearly some bad blood.
70's Mike Posted 2 August, 2011 Posted 2 August, 2011 Didn't Sharp turn us down because he didn't want to move south? the slums of Fratton will make him feel at home
Window Cleaner Posted 2 August, 2011 Posted 2 August, 2011 Didn't Sharp turn us down because he didn't want to move south? well if that had been the case he wouldn't have come down here to talk to us would he? he turned us down (if indeed he did and it wasn't the other way round) for one of 2 reasons: not enough money or at least salary parity with the other top earners (caused more than one non-signing apparently) or no guaranteed starting place, which I'm convinced Lambert has,or at least had in League 1, in his contract. You cannot be as bad as Lambert was at the start of last season and not get dropped unless it's a legal stipulation that you don't.
