Attendance for Saturday

The issue is that the club are engaging in last decade business practices at a time when peoples disposable incomes have shrunk. The Ryan model is increasingly despised and the club would be better off re-engaging with the fanbase and not being seen to be only interested in ripping us off.

Are your avatar and location tounge in cheek or is it a selective sentimemt to apply as and when?

Mine didn't. It was a simple and dare i say it, delightful mornings shopping.

went down to SMS Saturday morning, parked in one of the many spaces opposite the car park in Britannia Road, skipped merrily across he road safe in the knowledge that I had saved a pound. Got to the ticket office, let the bloke who arrived in front of me go first as he had parked in the car park so he too could avoid the charges. Paid for my season ticket received a complete book and strolled back to my car unchallenged with a full season ticket and having beaten the system.

Turkish 2 cortese 0

And another example of the benefits of not desperately needing to pay for something ling before you need it.

I think Cortese will console himself with the fact you just parted with several hundred pounds for your season ticket! ;)

i think there was a massive buzz, and we had about 7 or 8 blokes in the pub down for tickets, but then they announced it was on sky and they all cant be arsed ....its a curse in so many ways

in a strange way the best thing that could happen to football is for sky to show every game live, at 3pm, on interactive, that will see a lot of fans initially stay at home, attendances drop, and eventually go back to the days of reasonable prices on the door instead of the madness we have now, i mean £31 for ipswich away? and QPR are charging some away fans £72 next season, it just has to stop

Well I do not get down to many home games these days living 2.5/3 hours away, but there was no way I was missing out on the first game of the season on Saturday, even if the kick off is at 17.20, on Sky, and in the summer holiday's. I really cannot wait, and yes during the season I would be put off by the fact it is on sky and save a 5-6 hour round trip and plonk my bum on the sofa to watch Saints. This is though the first game of the season and against Leeds United so the effort is being made, but will not be going to to many games this season home or away, with another baby on the way!!

Cannot wait for Saturday COYS!!

Having said all this I can see about 23k turning out, but that is not bad in the scheme of things!!

I think SFC have totally cocked up and lost the plot...here is why I think why;

1. why did where season tickets not being sold on the back of our promotion, many more would have been sold due to the feel good factor.

2. the change in moving senior age groups was a kick in the teeth to many and SFC should be ashamed in how they treat lifelong fans.

3. I know its petty but charging customers to pay for parking for more than 15 mins is not acceptable really, does not even give you time to look around the shop!

Bit jealous of those who can go. First game of the season, Leeds are our first challenge in a league above the one we were in last year. I would fncking love to be part of that, the buzz when you arrive, queue and get through the turnstile is second to none.

Can only assume there will be an 8k walk up on the day. After all, we are the best supported club outside of London and Manchester.

Yes, we're much much bigger and better supported than Liverpool, Everton, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Sunderland aren't we?

F**k me, which one of you whingers do I have to ask for permission to miss a game? I'm going but I don't care who else is - the only thing I care about is 3 points.

Anyway, when was that last time we sold out 32K on an opening game?

or to put it another way when was the last time we played Leeds and the stadium was only 2/3rds full. Despite all the excuses of holidays, sky, ticket prices, surprise birthday parties and barmitzvahs 22k would be a huge disappointment. Especially for a club whose fan base think we could over double that and should expand the stadium now to cope with the demand.

On a side & purely selfish personal issue, fank fook the first game is on Sky and a late kick off.

I don't have footie on my sat system (I'd need entire separate systems for "telly", PL, & NpC each would cost over 300 quid a year just don't see the point)

It's also Ramadan, so bars here cannot open until 8:00pm local - 5pm UK, so with the 5:20 kick off the bars will be open and I'll be able to get to see the game for a change.

Ain't the same as being able to get to the game but at least it's a (selfish) and small silver lining.

Can fully understand those who choose not to go to tthe televised games. BUT I am struggling to understand why the heck English Football needs to start so early in the summer. Considering how utterly rubbish our National Team structure culture and skills have become the excuse of starting early because of the Euro's and inconveniencing the poor ripped off real fans who actually PAY to keep the game running by going to league games is just bo//ocks.

Start football when fans are on their holidays just so Terry & Rooney can have a rest - yeah right

Swiss footie has already started. I think they have a winter break though?

I'm going for 27k and disappointed at that but I've a sneaky feeling I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I remember the disappointment of watching our first ever game in Div 1 when promoted in 1966

Dell capacity was then 30,000 and only 19,900 turned up v Man City

We seem slow starters both on and off the field

Also City had come up with us as I recall so there wasn't the novelty of a 'big' name draw.

Remember it well...I was 12 standing in the choc boxes and still disbelieving that we'd done it...happy days!

On tele, people still on Holiday, money is tight right now etc.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's circa 21,000. I remember the first game of the relegation season against Blackburn, very similar circumstances and we only pulled in 27,500.

It won't be a sign of things to come, it's just an awkward time of year.

As Dubai Phil has pointed out, it is Ramadan so a large percentage of our islamic fanbase won't be able to make it either.

i reckon 24,295

And those that do attend won't be using our first class catering facilities.

In fact as a mark of respect I think we should designate the Chapel a Sharia Zone.

Haha I'd say the chapel already qualifies as sharia already, just missing the "no singing", unless it was

Hot dog

Halal sausage roll

Come on saints

Give us a goal.

TO just told me they've sold 23.5k already

I've just been down to the ground to pick up two extra tickets; I'll be amazed if the gate is only 23K, it was a struggle to get 2 extra seats next to the regular 5 we have (in the Chapel), last year it was a doddle. Ticket office staff said it was pretty busy and "should be a good gate".

ha one thing that never changes is the info from the ticket office is usually wrong, we have 22k saturday, 23.5k quoted on tuesday, i think they just take a guess at it themselves,

would be great to have 30k, would be a cracking atmosphere and you can guarantee Leeds will be very loud.

The lack of queue and therefore lack of a parking charge being somewhat offset by having to pay significantly more for the ST due to it not being bought during the far more busy two week renewal period.

Yeah i know people who do it, quite a few. Do i blame them not really, surely its the same for anything though isnt it? First time car drivers pay higher becuase previous people crash. I pay more tax because others fake the system. Thats life, deal with it.

Personally I'd deal with it by fixing it.

I believe in paying more for a better customer experience, for example why i always pay for priority boarding when going on holiday. Prehaps SFC could bring this in for season ticket renewals, priority renewal gets you a speedier and more accurate response. I shall send an email to Nicky suggesting it.

Totally disagree with you when it comes to ticket issues, there must not be a priority system that is based on ability to pay. e are all fans togetehr the alst thing we need is divisive two-tier systems. Everyone should be treated equally and fairly and most importantly with the respect that their custom deserves.

As with water on an uneven surface, pricing naturally finds it's level. Ask some fans if they want the tickets dropped 20% or that new centre back and a lot will go for the centre back, even those that would have to go a couple of games less. At the end of the day it's the product on the field which will determine pricing, something not totally alienated from pricing.

Your point would be valid given decreasing attendances, but you have no idea yet, just portraying yourself as a bitter mong. I am amazed we have sold 25k this game considering Saturday evenings are family orientated and the game being on Sky, but this is the first game of the season.

Isn't everything in life based on an ability to pay? THe house you live in, the car you drive, where you go on holiday etc etc? I think it is a genius idea to introduce a premiem rate service for football. Plus it'll keep all the riff raff in a lower cateogry of fan where they belong. I dont have to put up with scum when i get my BMW serviced and in my 5 star holiday resorts why should i when supporting my football club?

They've already got one, it's called hospitality.

Au contraire, mon ami. In my experience that was where you were most likely to find it. It tends to rise to the top. ;)

It is entirely down to the "global footballing calendar", England having a larger top division than most top European nations and the need to cram all of the League matches in around the League Cup, FA Cup, Europa League, a fixed global international match calendar with priority over top leagues, and more importantly for the decision-makers, clearing the midweek board for numerous Champions League games.

Even with early starts (and this season's April finish) we still get debacles like the FA Cup Final being played before the last week of League fixtures (around 2005ish) / on the same day as a full Premier League programme (last season) / at 5pm (this season) and the Playoffs getting shunted around the country due to the need for Wembley to have the Champions League Final to help pay for itself - and they've got it again in a year or so.
