Seen in paper from couple of days ago that Sheffield utd are prepared to let him go for £1.5m. Be a great target man if Richie gets injured, and still young, 22 I believe. What you think?

I would definitely take a gamble on him. He was incredibly highly rated a few years ago after his loan spell at Norwich, I remember watching him at St Mary's (he scored for Norwich too!) was the best player on the pitch and looked like he was going to be a real talent.

Didn't work out for him at Sheff U for whatever reason, he did cost them around 3-4m too, so he wasn't cheap. As you said, he's still young and the talent he had is still in there somewhere....he just needs a change of scenery.

So, why are they prepared to let him go "on the cheap" then ??

Has he had a bad injury etc ???

(Form can come back, the aftermath of bad knocks always remains)

Because they've been relegated, he's a high earner, and they're desperate to get rid of him to ease their financial problems.

Not 100% sure but is he the same player in the news regarding a rape allegation?

Yes he is:-

The £3 million player – who featured in the Manchester City youth team and has also turned out for Norwich – was arrested after an incident in the Rhyl area of North Wales on May 31.

Both the accused men will appear before Prestatyn magistrates on August 8.

North Wales Police confirmed the charges.

Doubt he'd come here to be a back up when he could get first team football at a few other Championship clubs.....would agree that hcdajfu though.

They are in financial difficulty and have openly said they need to offload the top earners which includes montgomery, quinn and evans.

Wilson cant build his own team unless this happens. This is why Wilson said he would sell Evans for less than £1.5m to get rid of him quickly.

For what its worth I have watched Sheffield United a lot over the last two season as my old man is a Blade and I live in Sheffield for half the year.

I actually said we should go for Ched on another thread.

He works his socks off, is actually fairly quick, is strong and has a powerful shot (possibly more so than Lambert). He didn't have the best of times at Sheffield United, which is also down to the fact they have been quite poor lately. He really roughs up the defenders like a terrier, similar to CMS. I would personally make a bid for him, I think he could play up front with Lambert or replace him if he got injured.

Shut up... if you dont have a clue what the situation with the club is up there then dont bother commenting.

Could keep Barny company on the pitch and in the nick.

The only striker we should be looking at, is one who is better that what we have, and we have several now. Why people keep posting about players who could do a job of back-up, is beyond me. Just stop and count how many 'back-ups' we actually have!

Evans is a decent player but Lambert would be number one ahead of him and to be honest banard or guly will partner him if we go 442 with DC and forte getting sub appearances.

we may only sign a striker if LB goes down even then i doubt now after NAs comments about forte we would sign anyone upfront.

A rapist CDAJFU.

Golden thread.

Innocent until proven guilty.

Apparently the details of the 'attack' that got him charged are ridiculous and he is confident his legal team will sort it.

Being arrested in Rhyl shows a lack of class. Arrested in Monte Carlo (or even Brighton for God's sake) would keep your value up and impart a certain amount of cool. I don't know what you have to do to be actually be arrested in Rhyl. They probably have their own laws.

He faces a rape charge doesn't he? Would not touch him with a bargepole under these circumstances. Not because I have any clue as to his guilt but because we do not need another off the field distraction in the courts.

This may be true but the CPS must believe that there is a 50% +1 chance at least of a conviction to bring charges.

Hm, not sure that applies in high profile celeb cases, they will want to be seen to be doing something due to the widespread media interest.
