There is no proof whatsoever that their products are a rip off. The apple products i own work so much better for me than the many previous computers/cellphones I have used. The workmanship and build quality is far superior and totally worth the extra cost. Their design and practicality is miles and miles ahead of their competitors, especially their computers.

I have to say I don't agree about Apple, they mKe good quality products, so charge a premium for them.

That said, Apple's customer service is pretty good. One of my iPods broke (groove related damage). I contacted their website - and someone was around the next day to pick it up. Completely replaced within a couple of days.

Those Apple cash reserves haven't been derived from a few thousand people paying extortionate prices for a couple of devices. They come from 300,000,000+ iPod sales (nothing else comes close), 25,000,000 iPad sales (currently outselling Android tablets 24:1) etc.

 

Apple's buying power is immense. The time is fast approaching when they will be selling ultra-thin laptops with SSD drives at prices that the competition cannot get near. I'd like you to come back in a couple of years time and tell us all how you're paying more for inferior products because of your anti-Apple stance.

I was the same, ****ty buggy pc after ****ty buggy pc, then I finally stumped up the big bucks for an iMac. No comparison. I'm a photographer, and my workflow has improved amazingly. Everything does 'just work' and work damn well. Oh, and its a beautiful chunk of machined aluminium and glass rather than a plastic Dell box, so that's nice...

I'm a bit of a Mac noob if I'm honest. Appart from performance whats the difference? Can you still run off the shelf software on it or does it have to be Apple brand products like windows does with PC's?

The Mac operating system is miles better, cleaner and more intuitive than windows for a start. And I don't think you can downplay how much of a bonus good design is - my iMac has no tower, it takes up as much space as a monitor would, and is (in my humble geeky opinion) ******* gorgeous. Clean lines and high grade materials, nothing distracting from the screen. (which display photographs beautifully)

 

Most popular software is available for Mac, I use all the adobe creative suite programmes. There is a lot of cool custom designed software available to download through their Mac app store now, ranging from games for 99 cents to full on graphics stuff for hundreds of dollars. The operating system includes a feature called boot camp, which let's you run windows software too, if you have a copy of windows to install on your Mac.

The reason people get viruses on PC's and not on Macs is because anybody that makes a virus on a MAC is pretty much applying that virus on a smaller market. If your gonna bother making a virus you will infect the biggest market available. I.E the PC market.

Just lose the wrist bands and the weight and it could be yours.

The connectivity is already brilliant. I have an Apple TV connected to my TV. With AirPlay I can stream content (music, video, photos etc) from my iPhone or iPad, watch YouTube, Flickr, and more. I have Jailbroken it to have a net browser, stream content from any machine or hard drive on my network and other little tweaks. iOS 5 will soon be released to allow full mirroring of iPhone/iPod/ iPad onto the tv screen to display whatever you're looking at onto your tv to see on the big screen or show others etc. In addition to all the freebie stuff, I also rent movies from the AppleTV fairly regularly. Apple are clearly going to move into producing TV sets with this technology built in and they'll be killer devices in terms of form and function with the infrastructure Apple has in place with iTunes, App Store, Cloud Storage, AirPlay etc. Bexy won't buy one though, as he's happy with his 14" Goldstar portable TV.

I think a better meeting would be that we have to enter a roller-skating dancing competition at the local discotheque and both of our partners accidentally skate into each other while we're both getting drinks (seperately for now) and hurt their ankles, and we have to team up. We wipe the floor with those other schmucks! I think we'll chuck a medley from Saturday Night Fever into that scene.
