Best Moment of 2010/11

Watching the Kelvin Davis video on Saints Player, watching that penalty save against Brighton makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

I just remember going absolutely ballistic and although it was a season of many highs, and it may seem like an odd choice, I would say that moment is my standout memory from the whole season. Total jubilation.

So what's your one best moment from last season?

When Lee Barnard smashed home the winner against MK Franchise. I lost the plot, along with everyone around me. Took a full on blow to the nose amid the celebrations but didn't give a monkeys. Great moment.

I couldn't make Brighton away, but was doing my Garden listening on the Radio, when Fonte headed home I went ape**** and could hear countless others around me doing exactly the same. Epic moment.

Being the frst one on the track away v Brighton and hugging fonte, guly jumping on my back and lambert grabbing my face and shouting get the f**k in. Then having to do a leg to not get arrested... Best moment of my saints career.

I think it must have been you who crushed my mates sunglasses that fell on the ground in the chaos that ensued! lol

mine was when lambert scored at argyle.....it was a very scrappy match and they were fighting for their lives....and seeing all the saints fans around the ground going nuts.....

Jonno Forte coming on v the Franchise.

It was sh*t or bust at that point, he was the unlikely provider of a turnaround and Barnard's 3rd goal was the absolute icing on the cake.

Had to leave that game early to get to Birmingham airport, was driving past Charlotte Place with Solent on when the final whistle went and just felt at that point, finally, that yes, we can go up automatically.

Most of my top moments have already been listed, so for me it was more of a general part of the season: after our dodgy start was put to bed, turning up to a home game and expecting Saints to win. That's not something that I can claim to have ever felt before! It wasn't borne of arrogance, more that we had the squad, the momentum and damn-near turned St. Mary's into a fortress. I'll miss that feeling f'sure.

Oldham away - being part of a small band of travelling Saints support, midweek in January in a northern s***hole and seeing a performance like that.

As others have stated Brighton away and MK Dons at home also well worth a mention, plus Plymouth away and Walsall at home all obvious choices.

Agree that was "Nice" for a change, but dare I say made home games a bit boring at times? Trying to think of highlights of the season and the vast majority of home matches just merge into one. Guess its how a lot of Man Utd or Chelsea fans feel after a while.

Totally agree there. Never seen Saints demolish a side away from home like that in my lifetime. A superb performance.

Plymouth away was also good fun, along with a mental train journey home celebrating our promotion.

Brighton away I was camping in the New Forest. We'd been at a pub watching Sky Sports News for most of the day but left with 15 mins to go thinking Saints weren't going to get a result. Got back to the campsite, put the radio on and after about 2 minutes of us slagging off the players, Connolly scored which resulted in jubilant scenes. Was funny watching little pockets of campers in the campsite going mental. Then Fonte scored. Car horns were going off, everything. Absolutely brilliant, massive bundle in the middle of the camp site with about 20 other blokes I'd never met before. To make things even better, there was a big group of skates with a pompey flag in the middle of the field who got abused for the rest of the night.

Would have to be Orient away, watching hundreds of Saints fans walking through the high st singing loud and proud ! reminded me of the old days ! and the fantastic support during the match.

That was a cracking day and make even better by Huddersfield and Posh drawing in the last minute.

There were so many highs last season and Oldham away and Brighton away are difficult to compare.

To a point that's probably true but considering the hard times of the recent few years, every single goal and point mattered immensely, no? It was a mix between the functional, logical approach (another win, another tick in the box and closer to promotion) and the emotional (a sound win on the Saturday sending me off in a good mood for the rest of the weekend).

The difference to the 'glory' teams for me was that we had the hardship before the success. OK it was relative i.e. it took a drop to League One for us to get so many wins at home, but you can only beat the teams in front of you (and other assorted clichés).

There was a fair number of run of the mill victories. But surely in there you experienced the massive highs of the moments others have mentioned.

KD saving a penalty v Brighton, the MK Dons winner, the last minute winner at Brighton, taking the lead v United surely those moments stand out?

Brighton away, seeing as I live there the moment when Fonte headed that winner was awesome and when I knew we would go up.

Also Lambert's free kick vs Bournemouth at Dean Court - just to silence their fans and underline the extra class we have.

Another big moment was standing behind the goal at Exeter when Lambert scored the winner there in the 90th, massive game that was.

Mine was watching us come back from a goal down to spank Bournemouth 3-1. I was sat in the home end, and had to keep my decorum but couldn't contain myself when Lambo smashed the free kick, and had a bit of a celebrate. A steward then came up the steps and - very politely, I thought - said "Come on now son, you've had your day out" and asked me to leave. I did a bit of a swaggering walk past the Cherries fans, got called a fat bastard a few times, but was just buzzing and left their Kwik Save St Marys-lite a very happy man.

I agree but it was bloody cold that night - but felt very warm when No.6 went in!

I also went ballistic when Chappers scored against ManU as did almost every other football fan in the country...we are on our way!

That was indeed me, great little lads. They said we'd win and i couldnt go back on the promise that id buy them both a burger and chips if we won.

The Chaplow goal. For a few minutes, sat in the company of a Man U fan, I was gloating my effing arse off.

For the mk Dons game I'd given up listening at half time, had it on in the background as I did the ironing. With each Forte goal I was keeping my concentration, when Barnard scored I was jumping round the room and nearly scorched my pants.

Got to be Plymouth for me - I couldn't make Brighton away mind! Walsall on the last day as well, I can't remember ever having gone to a game in full knowledge that it would be a party match from start to finish - usually our last games are meaningless (for bad reasons!) or we're fighting to survive and the tension is unbearable!!

Special mention to Bristol Rovers at home as well; the tension at that match was a killer! It just seemed like we were drifting towards as a draw, helpless! It was different to the tension of MK Dons at home as we were dead and just going all or or bust

Going absolutely f***ing mental when I got a text from my Dad to tell me we were 3-0 up at Plymouth and basically going up.

Missus wasn't too pleased, we were having a nice romantic afternoon meal to celebrate our anniversary. Look on her face was priceless

These are my top 3

1. Kelv Pen save against Brighton at home

2. Chaplow's goal against Utd

3. Winning goal/ Full time at Brighton Away- The club tryed to humiliate us the whole afternoon, they cheated and time wasted, and we still beat them, and without Chamberlain playing!!

I think number 3 JUST gets the top vote for me.

Was listening to the radio when Fonte scored that goal. My brother and I went ****ing mental and I just remember my Dad running in to the living room from the BBQ in the garden wearing an apron and holding a spatula, screaming his head off. Amazing moment!

Barnard's goal against MK was a cracking moment too. I was sat listening to the game in my room at Uni whilst my Man Utd supporting housemates were watching their game downstairs. I jumped around my room and screamed GET IN THERE out of my window, somewhat frightening some spanish tourists on a walking tour of Canterbury!

Chaplow vs United was amazing just because I was sat in a room with 10 people in. 1 was me, 9 were United fans. Just after it went in and I'd finished yelling at them all, my housemate said, "yeah well Van Der Sar would've saved that shot", followed immediately by the commentator saying "No keeper would've saved that shot!". Great scenes.

Best 'in the flesh' moment was probably vs Huddersfield at SMS. We were so good that day, I really thought we would go on and win the league. Also it was amazing when Lambo crashed in a goal after being off form for a while.

That's a great shout, had forgotten about that. Remember it as more relief than jubilation.

Listening to that Brighton game on the Radio was so frustrating as we had the majority of the chances yet found ourselves 1 down. When Lambert hit the post I had a feeling it wasn't going to be our day. My Dad remained confident and said Connolly would score in the next few minutes, straight after he walked into the kitchen he's scored! Rushed down the stairs to tell him due to Sky Sports being slightly slow, he replied we will get another. Radio Solent: "Ball into the box, Fonte's header, IT'S GONE IN - SOUTHAMPTON HAVE SCORED IN THE FINAL MINUTES!!!!" - I can't remember ever going so nuts for a goal while listening on the Radio. The next five minutes were very nervy but what a feeling it was to be a Saints fan after that, would have loved to been there.

MK Dons is another best moment, I was questioning Adkins ability with subs when Forte came on and I was silenced within 4 minutes. The scene's around St. Mary's when Barnard scored were fantastic although the last 5 minutes almost killed me, even thinking back to the cheer from the home fans when Barnard was fouled by the corner flag in the last minute sends a chill down the spin.

I had almost forgotten about the Davis penalty save vs Brighton, but what a fantastic moment. I'm not Kelvin's biggest fan, but I knew he would save it the moment Woods stepped up. Great scenes.

Great season, surprised a Season Review DVD was never released by the club considering the amount of disappointing seasons we've had since 03!

There is a season review dvd out. I know someone who bought one from the club shop before the ML tournament, something like £16.
