Afghanistan has cost UK about £18bn

When you add in the cost of the Libyan bombing £260m as well it seems there is plenty of money available for unwinnable wars.

The figures are contained in a report by the Commons defence committee which makes it clear the sums are no more than estimates.

 

If this is a government estimate on something that they know the public won't like, my guess is that the actual figure is probably a lot higher.

About 0.83% of our GDP. Of course this cost is spread out over 10 years.
