His scoring record's good, but has to be put into context. It's in the SPL. Many players have scored plenty of goals up there and then failed to do anything of any note when they've moved south of the border.

Take the likes of Scott McDonald and Kris Boyd as prime examples, both scored goals for fun for Celtic and Rangers respectively, but couldn't buy a goal last season for Middlesbrough (or Forest, while on loan, in Boyd's case).

Horrible attitude problems and thus far only good in the SPL (where Kris Boyd could choose how many goals he fancied scoring whenever he played)

I note what you're saying, but Scott McDonald and Kris Boyd played for Celtic and Rangers respectively, where chances are obviously going to be made for them given the gulf in quality with the rest of the SPL. Goodwillie plays for Dundee

I've thought about this guy, £2m is probably a bit steep for someone unproven at this level. £1 million an reasonable wage demands, maybe he's worth it.

The money could be much better spent elsewhere, obviously there is the slim possibility he will move to the championship and be a massive success by recent evidence from players making similar moves suggests not. We would be better off buying a proven league on striker or sticking with the ones we have as the quality level doesn't seem to be that different!

Even Rangers are reluctant to meet Dundee's price.

I wouldn't be overly happy if we splashed out £2m plus on him. The Championship is a far superior league to the SPL, minus the Old Firm and as already said before, plenty of other strikers have failed down here after flourishing up there.

there are players that have impressed in the SPL and have subsequently been a success down here. Rangers don't have two brass farthings to rub together, hence the quibbling over the £2m fee.

Yes they do. They've been taken over and have around £8-10m to spend and have spent little of that so far.

Also, can you imagine having Goodwillie and Guly up front? Could you get a more comic sounding strike partnership? :p

Cant we get him in on loan just for one match just to make this happen

Not so sure about this guy - I know it's bad to judge but has just been in court over an alleged rape (although there wasn't enough evidence to charge him) and doesn't seem to have a particularly good attitude. Looks a bit of a pretty boy with another shockingly bad arm tattoo which everyone seems to be getting these days!

Dundee United thank you very much!!!

If there wasn't enough evidence to charge him, then he hasn't really been 'in court'.

The disparity between rape allegations (and arrests) and subsequent charges is pretty huge. And contrary to what the bleeding-heart liberal press would have you believe, it's usually because the allegation wasn't true in the first place.

So yes, it's bad to judge.

I don't know about the 'bleeding-heart liberal press' - I'm just going by what SSN have reported! Sorry, just letting people know who may not! Despite the rape claims against him, he doesn't seem particularly nice anyway, so I don't mind judging!

But apart from them, what have the Romans ever done for us?

They've been taken over - that is correct. They have £8-10m to spend - well not so sure about that, the new owner has done a lot of talking but is yet to put his hand in his pocket (and I'm not counting re-signing David Weir at 41 for another season as putting his hand in his pocket). Rangers are very weak this season compared to Celtic and I suspect that it won't be long before they turn on the new owner. I venture that they'll start that on the final whistle of the first Old Firm game of the season when they get humped by Celtic. I may yet be proved wrong, but I don't think they've got the proverbial pot to pee in, hence being outbid for Kenny Miller.

They've singed a couple of players. I think they pulled out of signing Miller because he didn't want a backlash from the fans. That wouldn't be good for the chairmans current charm offensive. Will be interesting to see what they do money wise if they fail to qualify for the CL - which is looking likely.

Yes. Spurs for several months were Bent and Keane.

Villa's strikers last season were Young and Bent

in terms of signing this chap, no thanks. He's sc*ttish, so therefore ****e. End of.

Not really feasible having a Bent Goodwillie is it ??

"singed"?? Seems a little harsh.

Saints had Crouch and Poke.

I met Michael Poke's uncle the other day. Use this tidbit of useless info as you will.
