Smirking_Saint Posted 29 July, 2011 Share Posted 29 July, 2011 Its a decent debate, Hammond IMHO is our weakest Midfielder but probably the best influence on the pitch. Morgan and cork are probably out best midfielders and an on form Chappers is a very good, athletic asset. It all depends on who we bring in CB wise and whether or not Cork is as much of an influence as Hammond. For me, Morgan and Cork are our best pairing. Especially if you allow Morgan to display a little but of licence to roam forward. FWIW our options are fantastic right now
CHAZZA 92 Posted 29 July, 2011 Share Posted 29 July, 2011 Hammond, Cork and Morgan we be rotated a lot this season which means they will all get plenty of games during the season. I can see Cork and Morgan starting our first game as Adkins wants to keep the ball on the floor and Morgan is idealing suited to do that. Championship is not the 'kick and rush' nature of League 1 which Chaplow and maybe Hammond thrive on and needs more technical players as you cannot afford to give the ball away in the Championship as you will get punished. Morgan has improved defensively IMO closing down, tackling and reading the game. So him and Cork could be a great combo this season!!
aintforever Posted 29 July, 2011 Share Posted 29 July, 2011 Hammond is under-rated IMO. He might not have the silky skills of Morgan but does alot of work the Frenchman neglects, particularly when the opposition has the ball. I would go with Cork , Hammond. aintforever Posted 29 July, 2011 Share Posted 29 July, 2011 (edited) Opposition will have the ball a lot less if Morgan plays. We won ALOT more last season when Morgan didn't play. He obviously has talent and looks great on the ball but he's a bit of a show pony, zero threat going forward, not great defensively. for a more effective TEAM I would have Hammond or Chaplow alongside Cork. DrunkenSaint Posted 30 July, 2011 Share Posted 30 July, 2011 We won ALOT more last season when Morgan didn't play.He obviously has talent and looks great on the ball but he's a bit of a show pony, zero threat going forward, not great defensively. for a more effective TEAM I would have Hammond or Chaplow alongside Cork. Our motivation was going when Morgan got injured so who ever came in for morgan just fitted in straight away, the thing was we might of won while he was injured but some of those games were very messy we missed his creativity. Yes Hammond is our captain and yes he did have a good end to the season but he is no where near as good as Cork or Morgan. Dont forget we will be up against alot better players this season, Hammond along with Lambert and maybe a few others might struggle and now we have The Riddler, a very good player from what we all saw against WBA that should be playing every week. Yes its a headache for us and NA but if we want to get promoted we must play our best players. Just a little thought that came to me, Morgan has 1 year left on his contract, who would you rather see playing for us in the prem...Morgan or Hammond? i know who id rather have.
