But it's not just an extra 2 hours though, is it?

It's an extra 2 there and 2 back, people would want to compensate for the chance of traffic on either the M1 or M6 and so would be looking at an extra 5 hours travelling in comparison to a London game.

Added to which I can get a return to London for £22 on the train, whereas it costs double that to get to Yorkshire.

London games are therefore easier to get to, cheaper and generally more fun as there's plenty of choice as to where you drink.

Look at Leeds at ours today to see a marker of good away support - not at the loudest today, but big numbers, all stood as always and stuck around until the end, I'd have f****d off early if I was them. A late kick off and a few hours travelling didn't seem to effect them too much.

It's Leeds, they have supporters clubs all over the country. In terms of away support they probably rank in the top 3 of the country (excluding the big 4).

No need to exclude the Top 4, Leeds would still be up there. Man Utd, Leeds and Newcastle probably have the best away support in the country.

Cant knock Liverpool's support either. Sunderland and Everton also class.

Anyone know if The Outpost still allows away fans? Been in there a couple of times but believe they now only let home fans in...perhaps we should all get there early and take it?

The Football Ground Guide recommends the Dove Inn on Doncaster Road. 5 minute walk from the ground, here are the directions: "From behind the Pontefract Road stand (home end), walk across the cark park and cross over Pontefract Road and walk down Oakwell Lane. At the end of the road, turn left onto Doncaster Road and you arrive at the pub".

Checked it out on google street view, looks a nice pub from the outside and what I'd describe as a proper pub too!

Seems that this offer is misleading, it is only for first class upgrade not first class travel, although thats not how it's shown on South Eastern website

Sorry for earlier information

There are 2 Wetherspoons, the one on the High St is full of gypos, though there is another one tucked out of the way and that's decent enough.

Is Barnsley still full of fat, ugly, easy women? It used to be a great night out.

Bought my ticket online on Tuesday and still not turned up. If it's not turned up tomorrow I'll be able to give the TO a call and get them to send it up on the travel coaches, I presume?

I'm pretty sure they said in the original ticket booking announcement that they would not issue any duplicates and all tickets were being sent out by recorded delivery? Give the ticket office a call mate and get the heads up from them.

I seem to remember something about that too, will give them a call. I've just had a filling at the dentist and my mouth is numb still, will probably sound like a dribbling spastic.

You sound like that most of the time, so I wouldn't worry too much...

My tickets have been at the sorting office for the last 3 days, should probably go and collect them this evening.

He beat me to it. Got G to pick mine up at the Leeds game, zero effort. Def worth giving the club a bell and getting it sorted though.

Was sent out yesterday, should arrive by tomorrow. Will have to buy another one on the day if it doesn't turn up.

Can I still buy a Barnsley ticket from ticket office on Friday lunchtime? For some reason I have got it in my head that they return tickets with the coach and I guess that will leave on Friday?

You think the coach to Barnsley will leave tomorrow? You'll be fine buying tickets tomorrow lunchtime, by the way.

They usually get sent up on Coach 1 of the travel club on Saturday morning. Looking at the Barnsley ticket article on the OS, there is no mention of a cut off time on Friday to buy tickets. Also, from what I could see, no mention of it costing more on the day - depends if you want to get the game against your season ticket I guess.

cheers. For some reason I thought they went back with the players coach. I certainly want to get the game against my season ticket. See you all there.

I'm up North visiting friends, will they sell on the day or do I go into the Barnsley stand?

they will sell on the day, and i think it is the same price as in advance so easy. The away end is huge so thousands of empty seats to choose from.

A couple of seasons ago a few of us were taken to a half decent pub in the town not too far away from the train station by a friendly Tyke (admittedly did wonder if we were being set up at first!!) Sorry can't remember the name but landlord was a Wednesday fan so didn't mind away fans coming in!!

A bit later mates of one of the lads with us pitch up at the station and got a police escort to the souless liesure centre!!

Spread out I guess and don't draw attention to yourselves or hire a whippet and a few ferrets for the afternoon to blend in!!!

That was the pub I met you and some of the Northern Saints in, I have no idea of the name but it was decent. Didn't we end up having a couple in Sheffield before you went to Warrington or somewhere similar and me back to Nottingham after the game?! More recently I have drank in the Outpost, they had a special away fans bar and people could park nearby.

I bailed out of the 'a few more for the road' at Sheffield!! Weren't you going to have a curry with The Tyke who showed the pub in the first place?

Oh yeah, totally forgot about that. No I didn't go for a curry with him, if I did I may have ended up buried under his patio. Lucky escape!
