Saint Garrett Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Not strictly Saints related but they are divisional rivals! Looks like they will be heading into admin or atleast going to have to sell off their players to raise money to stay afloat. Cheeky bid for a few of their players maybe!?
S-Clarke Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Just heard about this, seems most of the media in and around the midlands are in agreement that they will enter admin before the weekend. What a slide....from lifting the league cup at wembley, to potentially staring L1 in the face.

S-Clarke Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Wonder what that must feel like............... Well yeah....but we didn't drop at that speed - this slide is less than 6 months! (another case of a failed ''fit and proper persons'' test, as Carson Yeoung has never been interested in investing there)
SNSUN Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Have they got any good players left? They could struggle this season.
Nexstar Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Would administration affect their position in Europe?
Colinjb Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Wonder what that must feel like............... For any side from outside of the bigger players to reach a cup final would seem to be something of a curse. Us, Millwall, West Ham, The Skates, Cardiff, Brum. All toying with financial issues after the main event.
Smirking_Saint Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 They are in Europe aswell. They have a few players to look at TBF
supersonic Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Already a thread on this http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?31487-Birmingham-City-FC
S-Clarke Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Have they got any good players left? They could struggle this season. They've got a really strong 11. (at the moment anyway) Foster Carr - Dann - Curtis Davies - Ridgewell Burke - Mutch - Fahey - Beausejour Zigic - Jerome ....and they still have king/michel/gomis/caldwell in reserve.

cryoman1965 Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Been there done that. A few uncomfortable years ahead for them I feel. They are a well supported and should emerge ok from this.
ThreeSixty Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 He's exactly the sort of overrated average lump some top flight team will spend 5m on. It's bizarre. Not prolific at this level, few ok spells but generally poor in the top flight, but no doubt still in demand. If you're British and score 10 top flight goals now you're going to be worth quite a lot. A very poor mans Carlton Cole. When i see him being touted around for £5m i feel like I'm watching a different game to everybody else.
saintedwill Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Birmingham-financial-meltdown-Carson-Yeung-assets-frozen-player-sale-to-survive-new-Portsmouth-article776447.html it's a bit odd to see their new director might not be able to fully commit to the job because of his school work!
Micky Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 When I read lines such as this, I really don't think there is too much of a problem for them: "The financial meltdown at St Andrews has left fans fearing they will become the new Portsmouth, less than six months after they celebrated winning the Carling Cup at Wembley." PFC are doing quite nicely thank you - going about their business as though nothing whatsoever happened. No worries - they will be fine.
slickmick Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 Curtis Davies was one we weere rumoured with some years ago. Maybe he could be the centre half we are looking for.

saint lard Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 Reports sugest this morning that BCFC will undoubtably put into admin. Owners assests have been frozen which means player sales are deemed nesessary to continue trading. Thier shares have stopped trading also, they have no major income streams
JustMike Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 They've got a really strong 11. (at the moment anyway) Foster Carr - Dann - Curtis Davies - Ridgewell Burke - Mutch - Fahey - Beausejour Zigic - Jerome ....and they still have king/michel/gomis/caldwell in reserve. Ridgewell please
Sour Mash Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 Been there done that. A few uncomfortable years ahead for them I feel. They are a well supported and should emerge ok from this. I don't rate their support at all (particularly at home), think if they struggle this year their crowds could really drop.
Chez Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 I'd take Mutch without a second thought. The wages of the rest would probably be prohibitive.
itchen_dan Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 Foster is off to West Brom on loan so that is one more key player gone/going.
Made in Southampton Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 Foster is off to West Brom on loan so that is one more key player gone/going. oh.
Saint Garrett Posted 27 July, 2011 Author Posted 27 July, 2011 Cant see these staying in the NPC. Foster, Dann, Ridgewell, Zigic, Jerome Beasejour
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 Foster please. No thanks. A goal-line keeper if ever there was one. If you look at a lot of goals conceded by Birmingham towards the end of last season it was because Foster was a rabbit in the head lights whenever the ball was crossed into the box.
hutch Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 i thought we learned from that lot down the road that The Bank of Premier League now offered a special deal on advancing parachute payments if you're a bit short, so it would seem that there's no reason to go into admin if your only problem is short-term cash flow until your owners assets thaw out. Unless, of course, you wanted to go into admin for other reasons.
Johnny Shearer Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 If they do go into administration will they get deducted 10 points? I wonder what the cut-off limit is before the season starts.
This Charming Man Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 Been there done that. A few uncomfortable years ahead for them I feel. They are a well supported and should emerge ok from this. Disagree there. Once the novelty of their first season in the Prem wore off a fair few years ago, their crowds have been shocking. Especially when you consider the size of the city. Imagine they will only continue to decline if they start slipping down the table after a quick fire-sale to balance the books.
hasper57saint Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 My 'Blues' supporting neighbour (he is a Brummy) tells me that they are in deep 'doo doo' and there's every possibility they will have to apply for 'receivership' and go into administration as the financial situation is appalling. He's worried they'll be deducted the ten points like us and drop down yet another level.
Saint Garrett Posted 27 July, 2011 Author Posted 27 July, 2011 Why woulnd't they be deducted 10 points ?! Everyone else has that has been into admin.
Chez Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 No thanks. A goal-line keeper if ever there was one. If you look at a lot of goals conceded by Birmingham towards the end of last season it was because Foster was a rabbit in the head lights whenever the ball was crossed into the box. I didn't rate him at all before he joined Brum and laughed at my bluenose friend having lost the England keeper and replaced him with Foster. However, he had an outstanding season. It matters not. He will be in the Prem.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 If they do go into administration will they get deducted 10 points? I wonder what the cut-off limit is before the season starts. It's 1st April, so yes they will.
sammysaint Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 I thought this would be good news for us in which it can be as it may take a while for there replacements to gel into brums team, because there get 12 mill from there top 3 players foster jerome and dann and get in 3 top championship replacements for about 8 mill leaving them 4 mill profit from transfers, plus they could offload ridgewell for about 2 mill if they were desperate for more cash and get in a loan replacement. I Think there still be a playoff team where as 4/5 weeks ago i expect them to be top 2.

I Think there still be a playoff team where as 4/5 weeks ago i expect them to be top 2. If they're in financial plop, there's no way they'll be spending £8 million on players. Money from the sales will go towards balancing the books and paying existing wages, and free transfers and loans will replace outgoing players.

Must admit since we dropped out of the Championship into league 1, I have paid minimal attention to the leagues above. It would appear my info is slightly outdated. I stand corrected
benjii Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 Birmingham's support is pathetic. I consider them a small club on a par with the likes of Barnsley, Skates, Reading etc...
Saint Garrett Posted 28 July, 2011 Author Posted 28 July, 2011 Would have thought Dann would go to a top half prem side, Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked to him.
