Who is he, whats his position?

When has Andrew Davis played for us?

Andrew Davies, i.e. club captain between 2007 and 2008, also player of the year...sold because of financial situation, since then has rotted on Stokes bench. both injury and subs bench

He only played about 25 games for us partnering Bennett? and Dailly at times. A Burley signing from Middlesbrough. But he stood out in an otherwise poor team that year (including Safri, Viafara, Skacel, Vignal, and Stern John)...surely im not the only one who remembers this once promising player!?

Was an excellent player for us, strong, committed, hard working.

IIRC we had him on loan, and had a bit of a battle to sign him permanently? Sold by Lowe to balance the books (ha!)

Saw him play a number of times for us and he was by far the best player on the pitch on each occasion. A real shame to see him go and even greater shame things haven't worked out for him. Is it known fact that he is struggling with injuries still or just supposition?

And sold quite rightly. We can't look down at Pompey and suggest we should have kept all the high earners and rejected transfer fees when we were in big debt. It was a shame but we were right to at least try and get by with cheap players.

at this time we also had Idiakez, Jermaine Wright, Darren Powell, Stern John, Jason Euell, Safri, Makin, Ostlund, Viafara, Saganowski, Wayne Thomas, Licka, Vignal, Bennett, Wright-Phillips, Dyer and Hammill...most of these names now make me shudder, apart from one or two most of these players were on their way down in football and so were we.

Connolly seems to have battled back well from crippling injuries but I guess no two players are the same. We're past signing crocks anyway, I seem to remember we had a period where that's all we seemed to bring in.

Indeed. £1m in cash plus the removal of £500k from the annual wage bill was a no-brainer at the time, especially for someone who had already picked up a knee injury that would keep him out for the first 3 months of his spell at Stoke.

Based on what? 5 or 6 games at the end of last season and a couple of pre-season friendlies. I can't think of any player who has had regular injury problems and then suddenly got fit and started playing 30 games a season. As such I'd avoid Davies, he just can't be relied upon to stay fit. Good player though.

I never understand the fascination of why people always want us to re sign players back who used to play for us.

It's like that desire for one last night with an ex. If it ever happened you know it would never be as good as you remember yet it doesn't stop you wanting it.

And lets not forget, IIRC, we got Pulis as well!

He was amazing for us when he was here.....player of the season having not played much?

Never seen a man win more headers......some times winning a header, falling over, then going from floor to air again to win the next header.

Shame he has a Stevo knee

This ^^ ... plus there are far better options out there, including that swap deal with QPR.
