S-Clarke Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 No thanks. He'll prob hurt himself in the warmup. He's made of glass which has ruined a really promising career.
Colinjb Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Really should be put into the bracket of 'He should never have left in the first place.)
explorer saint Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Dont think he wanted to go good player but he got crocked on that very wet day in Blackpool
Bailey Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Injuries have taken their toll and Davies is a completely different player to the one we saw at St. Mary's. Shame, as he was first-class for us. Time to move on though.
Dazza82 Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Related to Kelvin? Who is he, whats his position? When has Andrew Davis played for us?
K,Billy's supersound Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 no thanks aint his knee's totally f****d ? another player that would be lucky to play more than 10 games a season
whizzpop Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Related to Kelvin? Who is he, whats his position? When has Andrew Davis played for us? Andrew Davies, i.e. club captain between 2007 and 2008, also player of the year...sold because of financial situation, since then has rotted on Stokes bench. both injury and subs bench

lambertsrightleg Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Why do I have absolutely no recollection of this guy?? plastic
whizzpop Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 He only played about 25 games for us partnering Bennett? and Dailly at times. A Burley signing from Middlesbrough. But he stood out in an otherwise poor team that year (including Safri, Viafara, Skacel, Vignal, and Stern John)...surely im not the only one who remembers this once promising player!?

Was an excellent player for us, strong, committed, hard working. IIRC we had him on loan, and had a bit of a battle to sign him permanently? Sold by Lowe to balance the books (ha!)

But he stood out in an otherwise poor team that year (including Safri, Viafara, Skacel, Vignal, and Stern John)...surely im not the only one who remembers this once promising player!? Saw him play a number of times for us and he was by far the best player on the pitch on each occasion. A real shame to see him go and even greater shame things haven't worked out for him. Is it known fact that he is struggling with injuries still or just supposition?
whizzpop Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 And sold quite rightly. We can't look down at Pompey and suggest we should have kept all the high earners and rejected transfer fees when we were in big debt. It was a shame but we were right to at least try and get by with cheap players. at this time we also had Idiakez, Jermaine Wright, Darren Powell, Stern John, Jason Euell, Safri, Makin, Ostlund, Viafara, Saganowski, Wayne Thomas, Licka, Vignal, Bennett, Wright-Phillips, Dyer and Hammill...most of these names now make me shudder, apart from one or two most of these players were on their way down in football and so were we.
SNSUN Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Connolly seems to have battled back well from crippling injuries but I guess no two players are the same. We're past signing crocks anyway, I seem to remember we had a period where that's all we seemed to bring in.
Jack Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 He won every header he ever went up for. Class act for us. Not enough regular football over the last 3 seasons or so though. Shame
Dazza82 Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 Andrew Davies, i.e. club captain between 2007 and 2008, also player of the year...sold because of financial situation, since then has rotted on Stokes bench. both injury and subs bench I knew it was him but was just pointing out its Davies not Davis one of my pet hates. lol

Indeed. £1m in cash plus the removal of £500k from the annual wage bill was a no-brainer at the time, especially for someone who had already picked up a knee injury that would keep him out for the first 3 months of his spell at Stoke.
Pahars_Legend Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 I never understand the fascination of why people always want us to re sign players back who used to play for us.

We're past signing crocks anyway, I seem to remember we had a period where that's all we seemed to bring in. Based on what? 5 or 6 games at the end of last season and a couple of pre-season friendlies. I can't think of any player who has had regular injury problems and then suddenly got fit and started playing 30 games a season. As such I'd avoid Davies, he just can't be relied upon to stay fit. Good player though.
Colinjb Posted 26 July, 2011 Posted 26 July, 2011 I never understand the fascination of why people always want us to re sign players back who used to play for us. It's like that desire for one last night with an ex. If it ever happened you know it would never be as good as you remember yet it doesn't stop you wanting it.

And lets not forget, IIRC, we got Pulis as well!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 How the mighty fall once they leave SFC............... How many others have 'died' since departing SFC? WGS? Beattie
saint_stevo Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 He was amazing for us when he was here.....player of the season having not played much? Never seen a man win more headers......some times winning a header, falling over, then going from floor to air again to win the next header. Shame he has a Stevo knee
COMEONYOUREDS Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 I've never heard of Andrew Davis, is he related to Kelvin Davies?

This ^^ ... plus there are far better options out there, including that swap deal with QPR.
revolution saint Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 I never understand the fascination of why people always want us to re sign players back who used to play for us. Jack Cork?

Toomer Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 How the mighty fall once they leave SFC............... How many others have 'died' since departing SFC? WGS? Beattie Forest interested in Beattie according to SSN this morning.
disconnect Posted 27 July, 2011 Posted 27 July, 2011 Palace supporting mate said both Davies and the other trialist who replaced him both looked really good. I told him he'd likely be great for a few games but not to rely on him to stay fit...
