Saint-Armstrong Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 From Sam Lyon of the BBC on Twitter: QPR make a bid for wantaway Southampton winger Jason Puncheon and offer defender Kaspars Gorkss in exchange, report PA. Our very own Simon Peach has since tweeted: I understand that #QPR have made a bid for #SaintsFC winger Jason Puncheon & offered defender Kasper Gorkss in exchange. Interesting. Followed by: Forgot about Punch leaving, I think Gorkss would be a superb addition for #SaintsFC. The kind of signing we've been crying out for. Thoughts? Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 If accepted, & we sign Gorkss, would probably end our interest in Jemal as I can't see NA wanting 2 add 2 new centre halves.

SNSUN Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 Would be a fantastic deal if true - think of this, Puncheon not being a Saints player anymore. Nice. S-Clarke Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 So WHY are they interested in getting rid of him then ??? Who knows, according to their lot they have quite a few CB's already, and Warnock has to sell and move players on before he can buy.

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 QPR signed Gabbidon yesterday & will probably partner him with ****tu so maybe Gorkss doesn't want to be relegated to the subs bench? Maybe NA sees him as a better option than Jemal & that's why that's gone s bit quieter?

The Kraken Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 The main question is do we want someone who is nearly 30 or someone who is 24 and can improve/stay longer Or is the main question do we really want to turn away the chance of signing a player who just had a major influence on a team romping away with the title in the league we're about to play in? In favour of an unknown central defender from the Swiss league, or keeping faith with our own stalwart who is about to turn 36 years of age. Nexstar Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 The main question is do we want someone who is nearly 30 or someone who is 24 and can improve/stay longer He's 30, so I guess he has another 4 good years in him. I would put it as fairly slim that Jemal will still be our commanding CB in 4 years. (if he was to sign)

Flyer Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 Gorkss is great in the air but a bit slow. Hes also a bleeder so get used to the headbands, he split his head open from eyebrow to hairline in a meaningless game and put bandage on and finished it. Definitely suited more to the longer ball game than the nifty prem players. As for his age, surely you want to go up in the next 2 or 3 years so anyone under 32 should be fine. This is exactly what is needed then, but then we do not know what Jamal can bring either, he looks like a big strong commanding type aswell. Either player I would be more than happy with, and if we can get the influence that is Puncheon out of the door (unfortunate that I believe him to be a very talented player) then it is a very good deal.
