Made in Southampton Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 They've set up right next to the new children's play area. I'm no legal expert so what happens now? How long does it take to get them 'moved on'? Is nothing sacred anymore? I mean FFS it right next to the playground and school. Time to lock the doors and windows I think. mightysaints Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 They were parked up again last week on the Botley Grange campas, broke down fencing etc but were kicked off within 24hrs. Bet it takes the local council longer than that. If its the same lot that were camped in Stoneham Lane be carefull as they destroyed and ripped up recently planted trees, dumped a stolen car in the stream and ripped up the newly laid wooden decking along the river walk and dumped the usual builders rubble. My parents were approached by them and told to get off the land which is public. I think of myself as a fair and reasonable person but please can we just get rid of these scum once and for all. Saint-scooby Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 I want to be a gypsy pikey Irish cu nt , traveller, or diddie coy, it must be so romantic travelling the cu-ntryside setting up camp after you have a court order to move you on, tearing down fences, smashing open locked gates, dumping rubble and builders waste was around a camp fire made from stolen cars. flouting the law Stealing from the old so you can reproduce vast amounts. Do some grabbing at the weekend even, you get to drive a brand new van every year. Everybody loves you. Even after a hard days thieving you come home "wherever it is" and your caravan is spotless. I hear horse drowning is the latest pastime for the kids.... What a life.. now where is my clean wife beater I need to see my daaggs. Fan The Flames Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 The offices near my estate are owned by a American landlord, when the travellers pitched up next to the near complete offices for Rolex the landlord hired a private security firm to kick them off. Bit of a scrap and a few concrete blocks blocking the roads and it was caravan free in less than 24 hours.

And I have the right to take my kids to the park which they have parked on. Seems that the government need new laws to deal with this. I'm thinking of setting ip a local harassment group to hound them out of town. Nothing physical just playing loud music near by. Nicking their generators and stuff.... Turkish Posted 27 July, 2011 Share Posted 27 July, 2011 I don't see why you can't still take your children to the park. What is the problem? Why should the government bring out new laws because you have a problem with the travelling community?

saintjay77 Posted 27 July, 2011 Share Posted 27 July, 2011 Ive seen a few groups of travelers that are actually OK. The scum bags that rob and cause havoc ruin it for the few that stand for what the lifestyle is supposed to represent. They tried taking over the zoo's carpark a few weeks ago right before our busiest period. Had they not been moved on our visitor numbers would of dropped and this year would of been a disaster. I am all for making places available for them to go around the country but there has to be rules for all to keep and there are not many of them that like playing by rules made by anyone else. Cant see a solution TBH.

Just because it's considered the norm in this country to get as big a house as you can and surround yourselves with as many material possesions as possible it doesn't mean it's the right way of life. Why should they play by other peoples rules? The travelling community and way of life has existed well before any British legal system. And as for your comment about a few ruining it for all. Well there are quite a few people from the settled community who are criminals. There are good and bad in every culture. We believe in live and let live on this forum and dont you bigots forget it. This Charming Man Posted 27 July, 2011 Share Posted 27 July, 2011 (edited) I used to work on an MOD base and some gypos moved onto some wasteland next to the site, which was still owned by the MOD. The gypos ripped up the fencing and strolled on in. 5mins later, the heavily armed MOD police turned up and 10mins later the gypos were on their merry way. So there's your answer, get hold of a few machine guns then go and have a little chat with them. You mis-understood me. Making placecs available for them to go around the country means places that they can pitch up without having to break into private property or take over kids play parks. The rules I mean are that as travelers they should have a limit on how long they can stay at any particular place. Say an area is made available at various locations around the country, a stay limit of 4 weeks or something is put in place and rules to follow that mean the area is not turned into a dumping ground for stolen cars and builders rubble and so on. Travelers can come and go and travel up and down the country as much as they want. It seems a sensible idea to me. But someone telling the travellers where to go and telling there are rules to be followed means that many of them will go against the rules and do what they like anyway. Also the rubble and cars will turn up and the many skanks in the traveler comunity will ruin it for the few decent ones that just want to live a simple life where ever they can. They will also forget that they are travellers and stick around for years barley traveling at all. There is a large compunity of "Travellers" pitched up in Haldon Forrest near me and large parts of the forrest that has some beautiful locations have become no go area's ass thats where these "Travellers" live and where they have erected perminent structures to make there material possesions have a better home. Tree's have even grown back in the places that they gained access so their traveling vehicles are blocked in. Agree with the good and bad though. That doesnt need a car/van/house/shoes or anything to be true. And its always the bad that spoil it for the good.

If they stay for a period of time it would bring extra income into the local economy, providing opportunities for local children to experience a new culture at a young age and also provide employement opportunities for the local services. We should be embracing them and their cultural and the good that it brings.

Hopefully a strong Police presence will stop any trouble and they may move on.
