frankie Posted 25 July, 2011 Author Share Posted 25 July, 2011 Glorious Goodwood July 26th 2.00 Modun looks to have a good chance judged on his form last time out but is little value in a big open field, All Action was very impressive last time and if defying his 10pound hike he would have a good chance, but my preference is for Kings Gambit, he has run concistently well until last time out when stepping up in distance and running on ground he doesnt like too much, he gets on well with Jamie Spencer has some good form and top weights in this race have a very good record. Selection: Kings Gambit 2.35 Stoute has a superb record in this race, and the form of his runner Fiorente received a massive boost on Saturday when Nathaniel won, but evens is not a working mens price..a horse that also received a boost at the weekend is Slumber, he is open to improvement and is a much more attractive price than Fiorente. One that could spring a surprise especially if breaking better and running less green is Highland Castle at a big price. Selection: Slumber Outsider:Highland Castle. 3.10 Red Jazz loves 7f and has been very consistent this year over longer trips, back to his favourite trip and on a handicap mark 5 pound lower than his last win I fancy him to win. Delegator is half the price of my selection yet when they last met over 7 furlongs Red Jazz beat Delegator by nearly 3 lengths! Selection: Red Jazz 3.45 A really tricky race to select a winner, there are question marks about a few of these but Stonefield Flyer is holding his form well, his trainer remains in really good form and I expect him to run his usual good race. Selection: Stonefield Flyer 4.20 Moustache to win by a nose!!!! Selection: Moustache. 4.50 A middle to low draw is often best in this race and this looks pretty wide open, but I like the look of 'Don't Call Me' who is drawn in stall 3, the horse looks well handicapped and on firmer ground he coule record his first win for Nicholls. Of those drawn high Suited and Booted ran a promising race last time out and trainer Jane Chappel Hyam is under rated. Selection: Don't Call Me. Outsider: Suited and Booted 5.25 Christ what a race to finish with...my pin says Rocket Rob or Boogie Waltzer, Good luck all. Frankie
labibs Posted 25 July, 2011 Share Posted 25 July, 2011 Was hoping we'd get a thread up on here for this! For what it's worth, I'm on Frankel odds against for the big one on Wednesday. I personally think there could be even more to come from him and as long as he is given a proper ride (I.e. TQ doesn't bolt off for home after 1 bloody furlong) I can't see CC giving him 8lbs and holding him off. Great prospect though. Did okay at Royal Ascot, so probably due an absolute hiding this week. Anyway, for me tmw: 14:35 SLUMBER - Just think that Fiorente is too short and not been massively convinced by Stoute overall this season, hence willingness to take him on. 15:10 STRONG SUIT - lovely run at RA and it looks like the breathing operation has really helped him. Think 11/4 is a big price to be honest. 16:20 WARCROWN - reports are saying that he could be Fahey's best 2 yr old and he has some big race entries later in the season, so obviously well thought of. Price is very short at the mo, but not all bookies have priced it up yet, so may be something decent around in the morning. I would back him if pushed, but 9/4 on a horse who has never raced is tight! 17:25 Not really got a clue about the last 2 tmw if honest, but SUTTON VENY is from the same stable as my horse, so will do my bit and have a punt on her. Good luck everyone
saint_stevo Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 2:00- Got to be Modun, got on at 5's yesterday 2:35- Hard to look past Fiorente, but offers no value.....Slumber looks like a decent bet from the rest and Hurricane Higgins E/W 3:10- Libranno to win, Beacon Lodge E/W 3:45- Crown Dependancy Now for the lottery of the last few....with little confidence- 4:20- Sequoia 4:50- Master Mylo 5:25- Noodles Blue Boy
chrisobee Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 Not backing anything but some early thoughts for what they are worth ! I will probably return later and change my mind about these selections... 2.00 Bet365 Handicap Two horses stand out on trends here, Forte Dei Marmi. It’s won at the course, it’s won at the distance. The other unfortunately is Kings Gambit, also the name of one of my favourite chess openings:) Both are backable ew. So: It's Forte Dei Marmi and Kings Gambit for me. 2.35 Gordon Stakes It’s difficult to see past Fiorente .Beaten by 5 lengths at Royal Ascot but Ryan Moore took him too wide and thereafter he was never likely to win but did well to finish 2nd. At around even money is too short, Hunters Light looks a decent ew chance. So: It's Fiorente and Hunters Light in this one. 3.10 Lennox Stakes The 7f and conditions of this race look tailor made for Strong Suit though it's a really trappy race I think with the likes of the ultra consistent Delegator to deal with.much hotter race this time around. The 3yo Hannon horse Libranno should also appreciate this 7f and has won on the course before. So : It is Strong Suit and Libranno 3.45 Molecomb Stakes Richard Hannon has taken this race for both of the last 2 years and his Crown Dependency will surely be popular but he won his maiden over 6f and the drop back to 5f at Royal Ascot certainly didn’t seem to work out for him as he was doing all his best work late on. Miss Work Of Art looked really smart at the start of the season but ran a stinker at the Newmarket July meeting lthough the 6f might have proved too so a return to 5f might see a different horse. At around 14/1 she’s worth another chance as an each way investment. At present it is just Miss Work of Art here though a few others interest me and merit a further look. So, for now it is Miss Work of Art. 4.20 EBF Assertive Maiden Stakes Still deciding if I fancy anything in this race with so many newcomers, I tend to avoid these races! I will post a selection for the hell of it later ! 4.50 Poker at Bet 365 Handicap I do like the look of the lightly raced Guest Book here with the excellent De Sousa on board. The Johnston yard have a very good record here. So for now : Guest Book 5.25 Bet 365 Handicap Yep, this surely is a nigh on impossible race to predict with nearly every horse the same price it seems !! But my pin has landed on the unfortunate La Fortunata and Judge and Jury. Good luck all and lots of it !
Weston Saint Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 Gordon Stakes to go to top of the tree, Fiorente but watch out for Slumber if he wakes up Lennox Stakes, Strong Suit looks all dressed up to win but will face the music if Red Jazz takes the honours. Molecomb Stakes could be just the job for Vocational although Crown Dependancy may have a say

So,: Miss Work of Art. Pyman's Theory 4.20 EBF Assertive Maiden Stakes Cannot really find anything at a big price that springs out, Warcrown and Sequoia are the obvious selections though Warcrown especially seems very short. As Sequoia has had a run and looked very promising he has to be my pick here with newcomer Muarrab an interesting outsider So, with more hope than anything : Sequoia and Muarrab 4.50 Poker at Bet 365 Handicap I do like the look of the lightly raced Guest Book here with the excellent De Sousa on board. The Johnston yard have a very good record here. labibs Posted 26 July, 2011 Share Posted 26 July, 2011 Strong Suit won very comfortably as I thought he would to put me in profit for the day, but Warcrown and Slumber were both disappointing. I would give Warcrown another chance though, he got trapped behind a couple of horses and it looked like Fahey had told him not to push him if victory wasn't on. For tmw: 14:35 CHANDLERY to strike again for the Hughes / Hannon combination. Hardly an original pick, but has won at the course and Hughes picking him is good enough for me. 15:10 FRANKEL for me. Want him to win and think he will. 15:45 Going to give ARCHFIRE another go in this one after watching him all season. He ran a stinker on his debut, but by all accounts was very impressive when winning 2nd time out when wearing blinkers. Was actually there to see his last run at Ascot a few weeks ago, where he came from the back of the field late on to grab third behind All Action. He's a quirky one, but think the longer trip for this could bring out more in him. 16:55 LUTINE BELL - was impressed with his 2nd at the same meeting as Archfire at Ascot when coming from a bad draw and think he has been unlucky not to win so far this season, so gambling that this could be the one where it all comes together. 17:30 APACHE GLORY - seems the most obvious pick for me, okay in the weights and 7/1. Do have a sneaky suspicion that the De Sousa mount might do something from the bottom of the weights here though, largely just because the man is in red hot form at the minute. Good luck everyone

frankie Posted 26 July, 2011 Author Share Posted 26 July, 2011 Wednesday 27th tips. 2.00 A tricky race to start the card and several of these hold good chances but I am going for Bowdler's Magic who is stepped up in trip which should suit him, plus his trainer Mark Johnston has a great record at this track. Another to chuck into the mix is the unexposed Seaside Sizzler who looks progressive, plus I am taking the kids to the seaside for the last day of term today. Selection: Bowdler's Magic and Seaside Sizzler 2.35 Just 7 runners in this race....but any of the 7 could win...with a process of elimination stable jockey hughes has chosen, chandlery which means he must be better than the stables other 3 runners, chandlery lost to red duke last time out and could beat him again, but the one that may beat them all is Elkhart who looked impressive last time out and has SDS on board. Selection: Elkhart 3.10 Please Frankel, show the world just how good you are...no bet, just a watching brief...but please. Selection: Frankel 3.45 I cant choose between Halifax, who looked progressive at this trip before finding 2 miles too far last time out, and Whiplash Willie for the in form Andrew Balding stable...so I will dutch them both. Selections: Halifax and Whiplash Willie. 4.20 Richard Hannon gave me my only winner yesterday, so I am not about to desert him now, My Queenie ran an encouraging first race and will surely improve, hopefully enough to win this race. Selection: My Queenie. 4.55 A really tricky race but I cant keep my eye off Zenella, this 3 year old has a light weight and is unexposed, she could run a good race at a nice price. Selection: Zenella 5.30 Ahhhh it doesnt get any easier, Apache Glory looks to have a good chance but may be vulnerable to an improver, that improver could be handicap debutant Miss Aix. Selection: Miss Aix Good luck All Frankie
notnowcato Posted 27 July, 2011 Share Posted 27 July, 2011 2.00 Royal Diamond e/w 2.35 Lethal Force 3.10 No bet for me in this but expect Frankel to win if Queally gets it right. 3.45 Tanfeeth Good luck!
Weston Saint Posted 27 July, 2011 Share Posted 27 July, 2011 In the Vintage it's Red Duke to lord over Chandlery. Frankel to be the Bobby Dazzler in the Sussex despite his unconvincing win last time out. Canford Cliffs to take him all the way. What a race that will be! This Charming Man Posted 27 July, 2011 Share Posted 27 July, 2011 Lump on Green Destiny and quick. Now 11/4 and people are still piling on. I managed to get 4/1 the other day. It's like printing money.
chrisobee Posted 27 July, 2011 Share Posted 27 July, 2011 This looks to be an extremely tricky day but a few thoughts/tentative selection: 2.00 Though My Arch would ideally probably prefer slightly softer ground the step up in trip should be a positive. Has never run at Goodwood but has run on similar tracks. Seaside Sizzler looks a big price at around 20/1. Though he's only won on the A/W there looks to be no reason why he shouldn't go well. So My Arch/Seaside Sizzler 2.35 Red Duke looks to be the one to beat, no great price but not a race I can get enthused about. So, tentative selection Red Duke 3.10 I want Frankel to win but Canford Cliffs looks to me at least worthy of being around the same price. Toss a coin... So: No selection 3.45 At least 4 horses vying for favouritism, without a great deal of confidence I'm opting for Halifax and Arch Fire. Greyfriars Drummer also makes some appeal at a bigger price. So : Halifax/Arch Fire/Greyfriars Drummer 4.20 Nigh on impossible but at decent prices I'd have to opt for Deduction and Ice Missile if my arm was twisted with Rakasa another which looks at least to have ew chances. So: Deduction/ Ice Missile/Rakasa 4.55 And so, as if things aren't bad enough, we get this stinker of a race ! Pretty much anything could win, maybe Zenella or Smarty Socks will ( unlikely ! ) So Zenella/Smarty Socks 5.30 Now it just gets totally absurd, let us end the day with a race where only the very lucky will find the winner. It surely isn't going to be me even with 3 picks in Totheendoftheearth, Miss Aix and Kens Girl. So: Totheendoftheearth/ Miss Aix/ Kens Girl The very best of luck to anyone actually having a wager today.

labibs Posted 27 July, 2011 Share Posted 27 July, 2011 What a performance from Frankel! He'll never be beaten now, but he's also finished as a betting prospect. 3/10 next run? 2nd for Archfire is a little gutting, would have been 3 winners from my first 3 picks otherwise! Re: Green Destiny. Has the stand out form of the race, considering recent Group 1 win and will likely win as deserved favourite. 4/1 is a decent price! I wouldn't completely rule out Sagramor in the same race for some e/w value though, been on him for his last 2 handicap starts and is around 10/1 at the minute. frankie Posted 28 July, 2011 Author Share Posted 28 July, 2011 Just watched Frankels race...absolutely mind blowing and people are still knocking the horse and the form of the race......just a freak. On to today and Frankied 1 winner at Goodwood a day carried on yesterday with Whiplash Willie. 2.15 A nice easy race to start with !!!!! my two against the field are Boogie Shoes who is lightly raced and unexposed and at a big price Barney Rebel, who could surprise. Selections: Boogie Shoes and Barney Rebel 2.45 I have followed Kingsgate Native in every run this year, but today I am going to desert him (watch the bugger win now), again two against the field, Swiss Diva for the in form David Elsworth looks to have a good chance Kieran Fallon in the saddle is an added bonus, a horse at a big price to watch is Humidor, he loves Goodwood winning both times that he has raced here he is upped in class but could run well. Selections: Swiss Diva(N/R) and Humidor 3.15 Red Cadeux is interesting after routing his rivals in Ireland but arguably his best form is with give in the ground. Chiberta King is interesting, winning narrowly from Aaim to prosper last time out, but his stable are in fine form and he has won over this course and distance. If showing any of his old sparkle Geordieland could run well at a big price. Selection: Chiberta King. Outsider: Geordieland 3.45 Wild Coco looks to have a good chance but his form is on soft ground. The best form by far is Field of Miracles 2nd to Banimpire and it is with him I side. Motrice back in trip could run well at a nice price. Selection: Field of Miracles Outsider: Motrice. 4.20 Almost impossible to find a winner, follow the money if there is any, or just avoid. Selections: Glad Eye Gladys and Estedaama 4.55 A wide open race but I like the look of Shropshire, he was beaten favourite last time out but his 3rd to Frankel the time before looks very good and must give him a chance. St Augustine won on his only start here and is also in with a squeak. Selections: Shropshire and St Augustine. 5.25 A tricky finale to a tricky card...Dragonera to continue his progression. Selection: Dragonera Good luck all. Frankie
labibs Posted 28 July, 2011 Share Posted 28 July, 2011 Only a few for me today: 14:15 BOOGIE SHOES - agree with Frankie at 10's this is a decent bet. 14:45 NOBLE STORM 15:15 FOX HUNT - I said I quite fancied De Sousa's horse in the last yesterday and he popped up with a 2nd. I think he can go 1 better today for Johnston. Not had a chance to look at later races as am pretty busy at work today. Might get a chance later this afternoon. chrisobee Posted 28 July, 2011 Share Posted 28 July, 2011 Today's ever more tentative selections, might do the placepot as I seem ok at finding placed horses this week ! Goodwood 2.15 Of course a N/R was the most predictable thing of the day with only 15 now running.. Boogie Shoes – Conditions should suit today. He’s been working well and if he settles he would have a decent e/w chance. Throw in possible favourite Fulgur who must at least be a good bet to finish in the 1st 3 and that's 2 v the field. So : Boogie Shoes/Fulgur Goodwood 2.45 This is such a tricky race especially with the talented but very inconsistent Kingsgate Native in the field. If he is on song will be tough to beat but it is a big IF !! However, I'm going with him and at a much bigger price Golden Destiny even though will she will need to improve on previous form, speculative! So Kingsgate Native/Golden Destiny Goodwood 3.15 Opinion Poll – In great order but would ideally want a little rain. If the ground were a little easier I'd be more confident of a big run, but he still should run a big race. As an alternative Manighar looks to have a good chance but I'm going with the very tough and consistent Red Cadeaux. Electrolyser finally gets to wear headgear ( cheekpieces) which he seems to have needed for some time So: Opinion Poll/Red Cadeaux/Electrolyser Goodwood 3.45 Wild Coco – She is still improving and is really flying at home. The step up in trip is sure to suit and she’d have to have a big chance today. Is a short price so as an ew alternative I'm going for Meeznah, 2nd to Wild Coco last time out. So: Wild Coco/Meeznah Goodwood 4.20 Viola Da Gamba – She has improved for her first run and should show up much better today. Working very well and would have an e/w chance in this from a good draw.Santarini and Gifted Girl head the market but in what is yet another very trappy race but Perfect Delight will surely benefit from having raced previously so gets the dreaded vote as my 2nd selection. So Viola Da Gamba/Perfect Delight Goodwood 4.55 Tuscania – Haves’t been dealt the best of draws but she has come on a lot since her last run and should go well. I think Dimension will go well but a bigger price I'm opting for the Hannon trained Casual Glimpse. So: Tuscania/Casual Glimpse Danger Dimension Goodwood 5.25 Kinyras – He’s a bit of a monkey and has his own ideas about things, but he’d been doing some good work at home and if he decides to put it all in today he would have a solid e/w chance. Reflect, another Hannon horse must have at least ew claims. So Kinyras/Reflect Good luck and lots of it !

notnowcato Posted 28 July, 2011 Share Posted 28 July, 2011 Just seen Green Destiny is drawn in 2 tomorrow, plum draw, best form - looks like a penalty kick. Lump on.
This Charming Man Posted 28 July, 2011 Share Posted 28 July, 2011 Just seen Green Destiny is drawn in 2 tomorrow, plum draw, best form - looks like a penalty kick. Lump on. Already have. Got 4/1 on it earlier in the week. Wild Coco ate into some of my profits. Thought that was nailed on.
Hatch Posted 28 July, 2011 Share Posted 28 July, 2011 Goodwood 4.55 Tuscania – Haves’t been dealt the best of draws but she has come on a lot since her last run and should go well. I think Dimension will go well but a bigger price I'm opting for the Hannon trained Casual Glimpse. Nice one.
