doddisalegend Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Did lambo not say recently he wanted to end his career here? Strange if this is true In fairness though I'd say that about my job right now but if someone came in tommorrow for me with a better job on more money I'd take it. Thats not to say I believe this rumour just that everything said by players and managers in football needs to be taken with a big pinch of salt.
georgeweahscousin Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Just appeared on the OS. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2400360,00.html In response to this thread?
doddisalegend Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 As Hypo used to observe...if someone posts a negative rumour they typically get slated. But, if someone posts an equally tenuous, yet positive, rumour they typically get a "hmmm, interesting if true, thanks for posting" reply. It's a funny old game Saint... Yes there are a group of posters on here who get very worked up about anything that could be negative about saints. I imagine they live in a pink fluffy world of marshmellows and lolly pops where their reaction to unpleasent things is to put their fingers in their ears and sing Lalalala......
Thedelldays Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Yes there are a group of posters on here who get very worked up about anything that could be negative about saints. I imagine they live in a pink fluffy world of marshmellows and lolly pops where their reaction to unpleasent things is to put their fingers in their ears and sing Lalalala...... It's not pink and fluffy. Please tell me how many if these horrible rumours turn out to be true..?? How many rumours full stop turn out to be true?? About 2 in the last 2 years I think, I'm sure people/saints fans have had a gut full of bad rumours and have no appetite for it. Seems a few saints fans are stuck in the past and must revel in misery and bad rumour
trousers Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Just appeared on the OS. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2400360,00.html In response to this thread? A conspiracy theorist might suggest that is exactly the sort of article you'd expect to see IF something WAS happening behind the scenes (other than a slight twinge) They would probably cite that The club usually stays silent on these matters when there is genuinely no credence to such a rumour.
Ian the Red Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Why is it we have soooo many negative minded supporters??? We do not need to sell anyone. We have money in the bank. Key players have new long term contracts. We have purchased more players that will add to the squad and are undoubtedly in the market for more. So why are supporters always looking on the negative side??? RL is going nowhere. NA did the right thing resting him, look what happened last season when Pardew played him even thought he playing with an injury.

alpine_saint Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 My first thought was that this is troubling news. However, having read the OS article, I am reassured. We should all remember how last season spluttered into life, one of the main reasons being Rickie's lack of fitness. Seems daft to have risked that repeating itself with a meaningless tournament on Saturday...
Toomer Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Adkins on Solent at 08.20 Lambert is fit but felt a twinge in his back so we dit not risk him.

Seems a few saints fans are stuck in the past and must revel in misery and bad rumour How many of the good ones have turned out to be true? Look rumours are just that rumours (good or negative it makes no difference) half the reason for coming here is the rumours, each of us is adult and can make up our own minds on the validity of each rumour. I find the constant pessimists far less annoying than the forum thought police who must jump on any negative rumour with such aggression. As I pointed out in a thread higher up I don't think there is anything to this rumour but it's stilll intersting to me. As trousers pointed out a good rumour and everyone believes it a bad one and all the usual suspects get their little pink knickers in a twist. Edited 25 July, 2011 by doddisalegend
S-Clarke Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Adkins said Lambert "felt a little twinge in his back" in interview with BBC Radio Solent and Saints Player. No mention of the word "spasm". He did mention spasm in one of his interviews, back at ya.
sussexsaint Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Why is it we have soooo many negative minded supporters??? Because we have come of the back of decades and decades of disappointment and hurt and its very hard to go from that mentality to one of optimism. Too many bright young stars sold too soon for too little. Too many defeats from comfortable leads. We'll get there I have no doubt
egg Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Why is it we have soooo many negative minded supporters??? Why can some people not understand that rumours cannot be chosen? FWIW this one doesn't ring true but don't start with this "please don't be negative " crap when someone posts a rumour that you hope isn't true.
Viking Warrior Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 well sais adriansfc Sometimes it feels like our fans are so used to things being in turmoil they desperately seek some out when we're doing well. what is it with some of our fans always looking for the negative or trying to destabalise the club. are you part of the dark forces regiment ?????

egg Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 They can be if they are made up. Making a general point here, not specifically in relation to this thread. Posting lies is a different issue entirely. I come on here mainly to hear gossip and rumour. I take it for granted that I won't like all of what I read. I would never have a go at a poster for sharing something that I would rather not be true. In life not everything we are fed is palatable.
Leslie Charteris Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Obvoiusly, the club is so alarmed by this rumour that they have felt compelled to post this on the OS... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2400360,00.html
bender Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 He was at St Mary's on saturday though: He doesnt look disinterested. He's been playing in League one for most of his carrer with BR and then us. Now he has a chance to show his metal for one of the better teams on the NPC. Why would he want to leave?
Viking Warrior Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 egg the original poster should have ignored the rumour he heard let alone post it on here.
sfc1971 Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Go back 12 months Cortese & Wilkins said that RL was pushed to far by Pards during pre season resulting in him having a v poor 1st half season. Nigel is doing the correct thing listening to one of his top players and not chancing him in a meaningless game. Well done !

doddisalegend Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 egg the original poster should have ignored the rumour he heard let alone post it on here. What if the rumour had been "I've heard from a mate Lambert loves it here and wants to stay forever and become manager one day" would you be upset? Are people only allowed to post nice rumours? It's just a rumour take it or leave it, make up your own mind on it's truth, rumours are part of being a football fan.
trousers Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 (edited) egg the original poster should have ignored the rumour he heard let alone post it on here. Why? This forum would be verging on a ghost town if no rumours (good or bad) were ever posted....most pieces of "information" are rumours in some shape or form (i.e. not heard directly from the horses mouth) There might be something in this, there might not. (more likely the latter). It's no different to having a chin-wag down the pub. That's all. Edited 25 July, 2011 by trousers
egg Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 egg the original poster should have ignored the rumour he heard let alone post it on here. Why? Just in case you and a few others might get upset by the "negativity". He was right to post it. It is then for others to decide what they make of it.

Saint Charlie Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 For the last time: the article isn't as a result of this thread. It is as normal - it was on Saints Player on Saturday, and then is transcribed for the OS on Monday. Pretty much every single quote you read on the OS has uploaded on Saints Player previously. It would have been posted this morning regardless of what appeared on Saint Web!
COMEONYOUREDS Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 This forum has a reached a whole new level of stupidity. The suggestion that the OS article was put up as a response to this thread is quite frankly hilarious. Lambert is going nowhere. End of. He has just signed a new contract and wants to end his career here.

I think one person on this thread suggested that was the case (and even he posed it as a question) did anyone agree with him? so yes the whole forum is now stupid........

It's somewhat ironic that the '2+2=5' reactions to these sort of rumours are just as assumptive and reading-between-the-lines as the rumours are in the first place....
sotonjoe Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Another **** stirring and attention seeking post from The9; quelle surprise.

Anyway, the NA interview is apiece chopped out of his mid session interview on Saturday, I've noticed that the OS tend to do that quite a lot now that there's not much activity, they split his pre-match,post-match interviews into 2 or 3 bits and put them up under different headers.

Huntingdon Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 I have no idea if this BS or not. However, we've seen with Cortese that the bigger picture is important. If a PL club offered £5M for Lambert, a £4M profit on a 29 year-old who's never played at this level would be great business.

Can't blame them it must be pretty hard keeping the O/S interesting at this time of year, unless we start signing a new player every few days there isn't much to write about.

I don't blame them but it's a bit disconcerting when you look at the video or interview or whatever and have a distinct impression of déjà vu.

If a PL club offered £5M for Lambert, a £4M profit on a 29 year-old who's never played at this level would be great business. I had already posted this after the game. It's just a twinge and being precautionary. Lambert will be our main striker for next season, that's from the horses mouth.
HurleyBurley Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Wonder if The9 read this http://itsbeautifuloutside.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1462 and thought, yeah I could start something here
Charlie Wayman Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 what if someone has offered silly money, say 5-6 million for him? Would we accept that?!! I did actualy think it ws strange that he wasnt in the away picture....or maybe The9 has created this story simply on the basis of the lack of him in the marketing?!!! but then it is slightly strange that he wasnt in it..........mmmmm!!!! There were only two players in the picture FFS. Let's start some rumours about the rest of the squad.
georgeweahscousin Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 I was being facetious about the OS link.......

Doesn't mean that people should get all upset because a nasty man starts a nasty rumour. Ffs this a forum about a football team, not a counseling service.
aintforever Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 I don't know why the usual nobs are having a pop at the rumour, it's perfectly feasible that lambert was pulled from the ad because he's being sold. There are other reasons why it could have happened though.
Clifford Nelson Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 I can't imagine that NC contacted the printers personally, and if the informations had spread around St Mary's, from the chap who was asked to make the phone call, the rumour would now be available from better sources than a neighbour whose work we know nothing about. Lambert not on the away kit photo could, of course, simply be that he was on the massage table for his back spasm when the photo shoot went ahead. Sometimes this forum feels a lot like the old kremlologists who were watching people coming and going into Kreml in the old Soviet Union, and trying to make some sense of it. It mostly ended up with wild guesses, which I think this is likely to be.

What I really want to know is where is The9 moving to.
Itchen_block4 Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 I'm amazed to see how many people believe this 2 + 2 = 5 rumour has legs. With his new contract, we're looking at Maynard money and for a 29 year old with no experience above L1, it's laughable. Rumours should be plausible fact or fiction, positive or negatiive. This isn't. If he wanted to leave, he wouldn't have signed a new contract or declared that he wants to end his career here.
Fan The Flames Posted 25 July, 2011 Posted 25 July, 2011 Adkins said Lambert "felt a little twinge in his back" in interview with BBC Radio Solent and Saints Player. No mention of the word "spasm". Adkins said Lambert "got a little twinge in his back". No mention of the word "felt". FFS.
