Basically I was emptying the garage today in prep for a move next week, when our neighbour wanders up and asks how yesterday went at St Mary's. We had a chat about the matches, then moved onto discussing the home kit which he's getting for his son tomorrow and the away kit which he hadn't seen. He then said that last week his company was printing something for the away kit, and they got a phone call from Saints telling them "to stop everything, and not to feature Lambert in any way". I pointed out that Lambert hadn't played, and we both raised some eyebrows... I have no idea what he actually does, or whether he meant "his" company or just the company he works for, and I had assumed for a minute that he was on about putting the sponsors on the front of the shirt or something as that's what we were talking about before he mentioned it, but on reflection he was talking about the away kit marketing literature, or maybe the point of sale stuff or something like that. The home kit ad (launched on Wednesday) features Fonte, Lallana and Lambert; the away one (launched Saturday) only Lallana and Fonte. Anyway, bit strange for him to have said that AND Lambert to not feature on the weekend or in the advert...

Mmm, struggled to replace Andy Carroll, haven't they? Maybe there was a particular reason for RLSGM to be looking leaner and fitter than I've seen at any point in the last two years.

Only possible reason (although it sounds stupid) is that they knew Lambert wouldn't be playing in the away kit yesterday because of his injury and it made more commercial sense to leave him out? Unlikely I know.

Would someone pay that sort of money for a 29 year old striker who has never played above league 1 before? IMO no. Personally i think this is just coincidence.

I guess its all relative to what you do for a living!!!

In the post-Plymouth away interview he seemed very emotional about the chance to step up to Championship-level football and as mentioned, has signed a spanking new 3-year deal. No doubt in my mind that this is b*llocks, but of course football and speculation are inseperable bedfellows.

I think the OP was suggesting that Lambert had already taken part in the photoshoot (probably done at same session as home kit?) but that his neighbour's company (the printers) received a request to 'airbrush' Lambert from the promo material at the last minute. Who knows.

Are you suggesting that ALL forms of back pain force you to sit bolt upright, or were you expecting a facial expression like there's a mouse trap on his sweaty vegtables? I remember when Lambert and Lallana got injured during pre-season last year and the "they're leaving because we didn't get promoted" threads. Please can we not have this EVERY time a player picks up a knock. P.S. If Lambert is the replacement for Carroll, the barcodes will probably murder Pardew and Ashley.

Perhaps they see this as a chance to bring in a more proven striker at a higher level like Carlton Cole? However this Lambert rumour I will give it 0.5% on happening because Rickie has never let us down and Adkins can see he offers us so much more than just his goalscoring.

If this anecdote is remotely true, your neighbour should be fired by the company he works for for breach of confidentiality. It's an on the spot sacking for any printer to dish out anything like this sort of info.

Now we have a yet another 2+2=5 situation, and all of Rickies boyfriends, are out in force, saying no way. If there is any substance to this, then he is easily replaceable, but lets wait and see!
