Get behind Chambo today

The statement of intent was more of a wish...how many 17 year olds know what they want? I really think if the fans get behind him I think he will have a change of mind and see sense! We all listen to our parents but often we go totally against their wishes. Might be time to change tack, leave home and grow up out of dad's influence? I'm 100% behind the clubs decision to fine him, and totally behind him playing today. I doubt if therenwill be any booing when he gets the ball. To be honest it will be interesting to see how he performs against decent sides. A valuable lesson for him which could backfire if he really turns it on, or may just get a rude awakening...not as good as you thought?

I'm not an obnoxious fool so they have little reason too. HTH.

I can prove otherwise;

Mongbean. No wonder someone laid you out.

This makes me think you are indeed a bit of a pillock and does put you on the side of someone I would probably find reason to lump over someone I would go out of my way not to. But then, you have the benefit of hiding behind your monitor and I doubt very much that you, like the countless other complete muppets on here who have all cracked that same line, would say that to my face. Infact, I know so, because when the asbo saw fit to use violence after a 10 second war of words, countless folk on here let rip at me, guys who are clearly very close to me week in week out, yet I turn back up at SMS and what...? Silence.

If anyone thinks a polite round of applause and singing his name a little bit in a half empty stadium during a preseason game is going to make him turn down the chance of trebbling his wages and premier league and champions league football then you are bigger divs than i though.

That would make an interesting poll, we could do it weekly: Is x a bigger div than Turkish?

very good revolution, very good. I would hope to win this poll each week, as it seems the most respected posters on here have a blind faith, belief, optimism call it what you will. Anyone with any ounce of realism is shouted down as being negative. I would consider it a badge of honour to be considered by most of our forum superstars the biggest Div on here.

So anyway.

It's not a great sign if you have to ask your own supporters to get behind him, is it? If he wants to go it'll be on our terms, not his, so he can talk to the press all he likes - and get fined for doing it.

If we're honest, he won't stay with us forever as players just don't do that anymore. Personally I'll back him all the way until he leaves, be it sooner or later. If others want to think and do differently it's entirely up to them.

he may be 17 but business is business, we need players that want to be at southampton and who are buying into what adkins and cortese is selling them about the plan and getting back to the premiership, wanting to dissappear to arsenal or whoever now is not buying into the dream ...

I won't boo him but likewise I will not single out for praise, today is not about greedy, footbAllers with over inflated opinions off themselves.would of love to of kept him but after those interviews I hope we get the best price for him and replace him with players that wanna be here.as for the he is only 17argugment I'm pretty sure that at 17 I knew that if I done a interview in a national paper basically knowing it would upset my employers

Some people seem to think it's acceptable for a player to come out to the press and say he wants to leave. Some people are making excuses that he's been badly advised, been pushed into it by his dad, his agent etc. Everyone is going on about what a lovely, intellegent, level headed lad he is.

Dont fool yourself, he knew what he was doing. He knew he was risking upsetting the club, management and fans. It is not on for any player to mug off the club and fans that pay their wages like that, regardless of their age.

I wont boo him, i dont boo our own players, it's pathetic. But f*ck Alex Chamberlain, f*ck Mark Chamberlain. He obviously wants to leave so f*ck him. SFC is bigger than one player, lets go and get players that do want to be here. If he wants to go let him and his ego f*ck off and try and make it where so many others have failed.

I know some of you think singing his name and cheering him will change his mind. He'll stand there and think "they love me here, sod it, i'll stay" No amount of clapping or singing his name if going to make him stay. He obviously thinks he is too good for us now. I for one dont want anyone at this club that thinks that way.

True, we all by now know the routine. The press start mentioning Arsenal etc are interested the club say he is not for sale, the player then goes to the press and makes the clubs position untenable. Wenger and co know how to unsettle a player and then it alos effects the price.

So you are happy to boo a child that has made an error of judgement?

A child? He is big enough to come out and mug you off in the press he's big enough to deal with the consequences. He knew what he was doing, dont delude yourself. He said all the right things, SFC is a great club, the fans are great but now it's time, i'm good enough etc etc. That was a well thought out, manipulative statement.

Yes, a child. He is 17 years old which makes him a child. Even if he was 18/19/20/21 you should still give him leeway. We all made mistakes at that age, decision making part of his brain not fully developed and he has been poorly advised by people he trusts.

ffs, our fans!. A small thing is mentioned, and then blown out of all pre-portion, leading to a mongish few, saying they will boo a seventeen year old hot prospect. Go on lads, be the big 'I am', cause yet another of our players to want away ASP. As it stands, I feel he will be here next season.....but will he be as confident, after the boo boys!

If Chambo thinks he can slot into the Arsenal line-up he presumably agrees with NC that he is worth £12m plus sale on percentages. If a bid came in for £12m plus add ons AND Chambo wanted to go I am sure no one would step in his way and he would wish him luck with the opportunity. But to me -and hopefully Chambo - offering £5m is as silly as offering £1.50 so the deal will not go ahead no matter how much Chambo wishes it would. So under those circumstances, given that he has enjoyed his time here, I suspect he will remain committed to the club and give his all. The ONLY person really stopping the deal going ahead is Wenger who wants to get him on the cheap. Aint gonna happen mate.

spot on. Footballers no matter what their age are fully aware how fanatical we are about our football club and know full well that if they indicate they want to leave for something better then they become the `enemy' so to speak. If he leaves I don't wish him well. Once they go I don't give a **** about them. So whilst he is in this limbo period I struggle to back him in the same way as just as almost everyone on here struggles to back Puncheon. Booing him is a different thing altogether.

how do you even know he sees what he said as a mistake ? he wants to leave so it's not a mistake on his part.

What a stupid thing to write. The bit about brain not fully developed surely applies to you with the crap you post.
