Fitzhugh Fella Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Excellent signing You base that opinion on seeing him play?
The9 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Bloody hell, I've always been cynical about YouTube videos, but he's got pace, can beat people, has a couple of tricks, chops a ball back across the outside of his foot with a sharp change of direction, looks good as a right winger AND cutting in Lallana-style from the left, can deliver the kind of crosses Lambert would love, and also has a lovely little disguised through ball which I can't see anyone other than Forte running onto. Based on this I'd be inclined to think Chamberlain is leaving, but it could be the Puncheon replacement. He's more of an out and out winger Chambo-style though, and he is right footed. Anyway, based on the one YouTube video, well chuffed.
Badger Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Hope he's good, and if he isn't then just hope he is better and more committed than our last Belgian import.
The9 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Welcome aboard, looks good! Can we pinch the number 9 in the video too? I liked the look of the nippy short bloke.
The9 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Feel my expectation rise... June, 11th. Signed Cork : 8th. Signed De Ridder : I now think we will be challenging for the Play-Offs. If Jemal signs I'm going for 4th place.
NickG Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 if that youtube video is fair reflection, he has two thing wingers sometimes lack - tenacity and decent final ball - Lambert would love some of those crosses

Lets see how he gets on first before dramatically increasing our expectations!
beatlesaint Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 You base that opinion on seeing him play? Well to be fair I know the you tube video will only show his best bits but you cant polish a turd can you ? Just for once let yourself go with it, he looks a decent pacey player.
smithy Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 You base that opinion on seeing him play? Judging by the You Tube video.
Redondo Saint Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 We are going to walk this league........................
Badger Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Judging by the You Tube video. ..on similar evidence though we once signed Delgado,so you can understand those being just be a little cautious
Saintandy666 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Just looking at the old FM stats. Looks a decent buy, meant to be extremely fast which is what you want for an attacking midfielder.
smithy Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 (edited) ..on similar evidence though we once signed Delgado,so you can understand those being just be a little cautious Fair comment. Though i do hope that we have scouted him and not signed him on the strength of the video. Edited 22 July, 2011 by smithy
Stattmeister Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 I tell you what, Heskey would do a cracking job in the Championship....! One swallow doesn't make a summer, but The Knight looks OK eh? I quite like the idea that NA will not have anyone that doesn't fit on "the team bus", and his age etc. seems to suggest he looks like he fits our profile of young/talented/grow with the club remit. Given the discussion about the price, I suspect he would've been cheaper than someone like Pilkington given the inflated prices of British talent. Interested to see if our Young Boy rumour has legs now too!
Wes Tender Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 According to this article, his manager thought that they might have expected to keep him and there is mention of a couple of the other top Dutch clubs being interested in him, but they thought that they might not succeed in signing him. No mention of us at all, so perhaps as much a surprise to their fans as it was to us. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11906_7017924,00.html
Liquidshokk Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Good interview on saints player. Sounds a bit like michael jackson.. heee heeee
Saint J 77 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Someone on Facebook said he has got the number 11 shirt if that is true surely ox has gone. Obviously that's just a rumour but does anyone know what squad number he has been given?

RobM Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 ..on similar evidence though we once signed Delgado,so you can understand those being just be a little cautious Delgado was a good player though... just with a bad work ethic and attitude and a dodgy knee. In terms of talent and ability, he was a good player.
The9 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Seriously you're getting ahead of yourself. We don't know anything about this guy yet. Lets see how he gets on first before dramatically increasing our expectations! I am not in control of these expectations. Anyone want to post a YouTube video of any of our current players to remind me how they can increase the players' ability via editing ?
Saint J 77 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 He will be number 33. ok ignore my last post question answered. I'm hoping he is as good as they say. If so he sounds a very good signing!
The9 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Delgado was a good player though... just with a bad work ethic and attitude and a dodgy knee. In terms of talent and ability, he was a good player. I'm pretty sure it was just his knee and desire to be in South America...
Liquidshokk Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 How do you know this ? The Sibmeister said on twitter
BARCELONASAINT Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 having watched his youtube clips the lad looks very talented, very quick feet, good passer, good crosser and a decent shot on him.......if he lives up to these clips then all praise to NC and NA for getting him to sign. I'll be gutted if we lose OXO but i'm less confirmed now!
Ohio Saint Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 You tube videos.. beware. Thanks Hatch. I needed that! It's hard to not be impressed by this guy's youtube CV....But we will just have to wait and see. Looks like a good player for our level. I hope it works out!!!
Matthew Le God Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 ..on similar evidence though we once signed Delgado,so you can understand those being just be a little cautious The problem with Agustin Delgado wasn't his ability, he was clearly a very good player. For example he was the top goal scorer in the 2002 South American World Cup qualifying campaign. It was his attitude and injury problems that made his stay at Saints a nightmare.
sussexsaint Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 If he becomes a legend can we rename the bus the Knight bus?
Wade Garrett Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 The problem with Agustin Delgado wasn't his ability, he was clearly a very good player. Delgado even made talented but workshy malingerer Pahars committed.
Ohio Saint Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 If he becomes a legend can we rename the bus the Knight bus? Yes, we may.
saint1977 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Looks like a super signing and exactly what we needed - Bailey, if you are online at the moment, did you know about this? You were saying about how you'd really like to see a pacy winger added and we have one, a good one at that. I still think Forte is a better impact option off the bench than people give him credit for. Looks like Ox-C is going but I wondered if he'd go up front with Lambert if he hadn't and it could be Ox-C's departure triggers another striker going. Number 5 vacant suggests a centre half as well. Hope this gets more through the gate for tommorrow, exciting times.
Prince Jazzbo Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Lets just hope he doesn't have the same agent as Ronnie Van Needlemans.
waggy Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Very highly rated player in Holland, Steve McClaren tried unsuccessfully to sign him. Just hope he can transfer what he achieved there to SMS. One of many youtube vids on the the geezer.
SaintRichmond Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 The Knight Looks good on YouTube ;-) Sort of a "Knight Ridder" then ???
Jimmy_D Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 He seems to be two footed so I can see him and Lallana swapping wings every so often if we're playing Lallana out wide.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Once again Nigel Adkins raises the middle finger to all the so called 'In the know' gullible plebs of Saintsweb. This is a trully awesome signing, this lad will prove to be a revelation. Well done Saints for once again staying under the media radar.
Faz Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 This is exactly the type of player our supposed new Head of European Talent was said to be scouting; young with potential to grow with us as we march to the PL.
.comsaint Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Another top signing by the club and a 'significant' fee too. Hope this isn't our striker though... Nah. He's a replacement for Oxo.
Matthew Le God Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Nah. He's a replacement for Oxo. Or Puncheon, N'Guessan and Mills.
Made in Southampton Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Well impressed. He looks a he'll of a player from what I've just seen on YouTube. Well done NA and NC.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 looking at you tube video I suspect he could be a luxury player in that he wont track back too much. So would be ideal at sms when oppo look to get men behind the ball. Away game could be more of a risk depending on how attack minded the opposition are. With his pace could be a great player late on in games though. I reckon he is just what we need. Lambert will be very pleased judging by the crosses ont he you tube video.
sussexsaint Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Looking again a lot of those goals seem to come with him on the left side, he looks bloody quick as well , nice final ball
