JustMike Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Apparently we have been linked with him after his move to the hammers fell through. Source: My mate who saw it on SSN last night
bangkoksaint Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Good signing if that is the case, despite his fishy connections!!!!
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Someone posted that on Facebook last nite too. Anyone see SSN who can confirm what they said?
Saint Charlie Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 He plays left midfield whi h is where our best player happens to play.
JustMike Posted 22 July, 2011 Author Posted 22 July, 2011 He plays left midfield whi h is where our best player happens to play. and at LB, but there is nothing wrong with having options. That said, there is nothing about it on Sky website
Saint Fan CaM Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 With Forte and Holmes as backup to Lallana, can't see this being anything near a possibility, although to be fair it would be a good signing.
Colinjb Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 I say this through gritted teeth. He would be an excellent signing.
Whitey Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Usually scores at least on outrageous goal a year as well
JustMike Posted 22 July, 2011 Author Posted 22 July, 2011 With Forte and Holmes as backup to Lallana, can't see this being anything near a possibility, although to be fair it would be a good signing. unless AOC goes, AL plays on the right?
Wade Garrett Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 It's West Ham he's allegedly going to. Good, I really wouldn't want him here.
JustMike Posted 22 July, 2011 Author Posted 22 July, 2011 It's West Ham he's allegedly going to. that article was Wednesday, as i said in OP, apparently its fallen through
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 If true, and it is a big if, he would be a cracking signing. Can also play in the centre, although I'd expect him on the left with Lallana playing more advanced I. The centre if even in the right if Chamberlain is off. Either way, would take him in a second.
thorpie the sinner Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 According to Mr West Ham, the Moose on talksport, taylor is having a medical at West Ham later!
whizzpop Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Would be very good for us. Twice the player of Holmes and Jon Forte.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 The skates have been crying out for carrot cruncher to re-sign him, so for that reason alone I would be happy with this, he'd also be a dead cert to score at Nottarf Krap. Can't see him being the sort Nigel wants though.
georgeweahscousin Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Meh. Overrated player. Not as good as Lallana. Not defensively sound enough for LB.
Mowgli Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 I just cannot see NA / NC wanting to sign a player over 25 - unless they are truly exceptional. Even then only up to 27/28 and as a central defender.
S-Clarke Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Good player, but not sure why we'd need him..? He wouldn't join to be backup.
rooney Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 He turned us down when we were in the Premiership, when he was at Luton, to go to the Skates in the Championship, when Harry was in charge.
Marsdinho Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 I don't want anyone at my club that likes to be known as "Matty".
Pilchards Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 I don't want anyone at my club that likes to be known as "Matty". I can't think that we've ever had one at our club before, Matty Mills is the closiest one I've thought of.
The Kraken Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 With Forte and Holmes as backup to Lallana, can't see this being anything near a possibility, although to be fair it would be a good signing. IMO you've just described two players who are completely inadequate as backup. Holmes has consistently proved that he is made of glass. Great on his day, but has been injured for more than half his career. Can't really be relied upon just yet. And Forte, well the jury is still out but from the times I've seen him play I just don't rate him as good enough, I think it was a rather strange signing. I'd love to have Taylor on board, he's a class player and would absolutely improve the side immeasurably. Him on the left and Lallana on the right would work well, assuming AOC does the offski.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 I would be taking my season ticket back if we signed that ****.
OldNick Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 forget his Pompey connections, he plays to win and is wholehearted. Yes he gave us abuse but we sure gave him plenty beforehand.Man up
Pilchards Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 I would be taking my season ticket back if we signed that ****. First up we won't sign him and statements like yours are plain silly! So when Peter Crouch signed up did you threaten the same thing? I must add he was the last best striker we had you know!
exit2 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 (edited) he might be the bloke having a medical today at Stapelwood at about 10.30 if the rumours are true. I guess if they are true then will be shown off tomorrow, but I'm sure we will soon know who it is if they sign and like others have said if it is Matty Taylor, that is a quality signing Edited 22 July, 2011 by exit2
Gorgiesaint Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Yes, I'd be taking my season ticket back because we start buying players with proven Premier League experience (even though its only mid to bottom of the table clubs). That said, its not immediately obvious where he would fit in, and I'm not sure the wages he would want would fit our structure.
benjii Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Quick note for anyone taking their ST back: don't forget to contact The Echo first.
georgeweahscousin Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Isn't he best mates with Beattie? Perhaps they are both coming in..... SPECULATION.
chocco boxo Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Him and Kevin Davies would help batter us out of the Championship!
The Kraken Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 I would be taking my season ticket back if we signed that ****. Dear God, I didn't think we had fans this thick.
saints-cris Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 SkyGraemeBailey Graeme Bailey Skysports.com understands Matt Taylor is undergoing a medical at West Ham ahead of his proposed move Doesnt sound like its fallen through.
trousers Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Dear God, I didn't think we had fans this thick. You've been a forum member for 5+ years and you thought that....? ;-)
The Kraken Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 You've been a forum member for 5+ years and you thought that....? ;-) Oh, I knew there was a certain level of stupidity, absolutely. I just didn't think there were people whose knuckles dragged so low that they'd be prepared to give up £500 of hard spent cash and refuse to enjoy a pasttime they clearly enjoy just because the club have bought a very good footballer.
Huntingdon Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Is this the same Matty Taylor who kept celebrating Pompey's goals directly at Saints fans? Taylor can do what he does best & shove it up his arse
DT Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Was wondering how long it would take for this last inference to emerge.
Dog Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 If he signs, I'll sever my penis off live on the internet..
The Kraken Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 he's probably not gay. but does it matter if he is? To the knuckle-dragging elite, I'm not sure which is considered worse; the fact that he's probably not gay, or that he used to play for a rival team. It's an absolutely senseless mindset that we can have players like Crouch and Chamberlain respected in one way, while Taylor, Fuller etc get derided for previously playing for the same team (they've got no other formal ties with the city either). So small minded.
Gingeletiss Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 I would be taking my season ticket back if we signed that ****. I'll have it for £50....cash!
egg Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Taylor can do what he does best & shove it up his arse Think you'll find he has a wife and kids.
egg Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Sh!t ex-skate, no thanks. Ffs, does that really matter. Crouch, Horne, Fuller and others were too. He's a good player. Would offer options down the left, and free up AL to play central or down the right.
JustMike Posted 22 July, 2011 Author Posted 22 July, 2011 Going to West Ham. Done deal. Bloody sky! Oh well, time to lock
DT Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 So did Oscar Wilde. Just saying. Doesn't bother me either way.
