The Cat Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 120 is the top of the guidelines for League One players (although they are flexible). The two players above him (with ratings just over the top of the League One guidelines) were Guly do Prado (as rated by the Cesena researcher) and Joe Lewis, who probably does need to come down. And what did Lallana and Fonte have? The Southampton researcher is clearly not doing his job properly.
Matthew Le God Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 And what did Lallana and Fonte have? 120 and 118 respectively.
locksheathsaint101 Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 The more I read, the more I realise how perfect MLG is as the FM researcher.
scotty Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 WTF is football manager!! It's a special time in a man's life when he doesn't have sex for 6 years. Those stats gave me a semi. That's bad isn't it. If youre looking for sympathy adrian, you came to the wrong place
Glasgow_Saint Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 A current ability of 120 in League One is extremely good. Made him the joint 3rd best player in League One in FM version 11.3 hahahahahaha
opthomps Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 120 and 118 respectively. This thread is something else. 30 seconds reading it and I feel ashamed.
locksheathsaint101 Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 What are you laughing at Mr Glasgow? The fact you don't know makes it even more amusing!
Matthew Le God Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 This thread is something else. 30 seconds reading it and I feel ashamed. I was asked a question, so I answered it.
skintsaint Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 Tunisians and Football Manager...what a combination. Maybe Jaidi said this guy would do us a job and recommended him. Maybe we have good Swiss connections these days? Even so looks good (but every player does on Youtube - expect that Sunderland centreback). As long as the fee isn't over the top wouldnt grumble at this one - plenty of European experiance, International experiance and we are signing him in the 2nd division. Good stuff.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 What are you laughing at Mr Glasgow? Just laughing cos you mentioned the version ( 11.3! ) What are you like MLG? I notice you're also FM 2011 southampton researcher? You're in my top 5 fav posters!! Keep up the superb work ok
Matthew Le God Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 (edited) Just laughing cos you mentioned the version ( 11.3! ) What are you like MLG? I mentioned the version number because the data changes. I notice you're also FM 2011 southampton researcher? You're in my top 5 fav posters!! Keep up the superb work ok I'm honoured! Edited 21 July, 2011 by Matthew Le God
Matthew Le God Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 Same story but from 18th July... http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&prev=/search%3Fq%3DAmmar%2BJemal%2Bsouthampton%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1184%26bih%3D809%26prmd%3Divnso&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=fr&u=http://actualite-tunisie.com/a-la-une/national/72711-actualites-r-sport-news--ammar-jemal-tres-proche-de-southampton&usg=ALkJrhg1k3Ck-CdcSmyI3lcew5sgC6yHNA The one in the opening post is a rehash of an old story then.
Professor Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 Is this why Adkins had the phrase 'Young Boy' on his mind in his SSN interview? Did he have Alex and Ammar confused?
Dark Munster Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 Chortle what a headline, oh those Young Boys. Brilliant!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 Not read all the thread - anyone else notice he was wearing the no.5 shirt at one time? We've left the no.5 free - for him perhaps? Seems a good fit in terms of what we need and as others have said there are good links (Jaidi/Swiss). I would be very pleased if he signed for us.

saintscottofthenortham Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 I'm pretty sure he is autistic. Pretty sure!? You need to read his post history. You will soon realise there is not a single doubt about it!
deadpanmatt Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 His squad number was number 5 on one of those videos above so perhaps this is why 5 is available on the new squad numbers list.
pap Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 Brilliant! That one definitely slipped past the sub-editor
stevy777_x Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 Right i ve looking through the Tunisian forums (yes, i speak french). Appararently Ammar Jemal wants to leave the Young Boys. He refused to come back for training beginning of july. Stoke Brest, Caen and Saints have been interested in him. Stoke might be out of the race now as they have just signed Woodgate. Ammar can play in the center of defense and left back. He is left footed and lauded as very strong physically so wouldn't have a lot of trouble adapting to the english game. Has also got a decent left peg on him. He is considered as the future of the Tunisian national team and is one of their best players.

Whether a rehash of the 18th or not, this sounds like a real possibility in so many ways, and a rumour picked up from Tunisia will not have been placed in some hope of us finding it.

Sounds a promising player and seems to be the exact age that we are looking for. Anyone get the feeling we are building a team that will be together for a while? Lets hope the reports re a medical are correct.
skintsaint Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 He refused to come back for training beginning of july. sounds like a bad apple...
S-Clarke Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 He does sound very promising. It's exactly the sort of signings we make too, totally out of the blue and not expected. Exactly the sort of CB we need to....sounds like a younger Jaidi, and is left footed. So ticks every single box for me. Sort of fits in with what the our new scout said a few months ago. ''Good European players with the ability to play in the premier league, but with the mentality to do well in the championship for 1 or 2 years"

Good point, and given our crowds I'm sure we can outbid Caen and Brest. Playing regularly in front of decent crowds must also be a draw.
ericb Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 almost a full page on football manager stats..... no wonder people think this place is full of geeks with no sense of humour.
Badger Posted 21 July, 2011 Posted 21 July, 2011 Appararently Ammar Jemal wants to leave the Young Boys. He refused to come back for training beginning of july. . sounds like a bad apple... I too noticed that, an attitude not entirely removed from Kenwynne Jones a few seasons ago, for which he was widely condemned on here.Good prospect he may be,but not sure we need another Puncheon in the building, or on the bus.
SaintNeil90 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Hopefully he will be announced tomorrow. Adkins said 1 or 2 before saturday. I have a feeling we will sign someone Friday. Possibly Gary Roberts or this guy.
Midfield_General Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Well his song's sorted: "Stop! Ammar time."
St. Neil Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Or "If I had a Ammar I'd Ammar in the morning I'd Ammar in the evening All over this land"
stevy777_x Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Anyone think there might be issues regarding his work permit? He made his debut in may 2010 for Tunisia, so hasn't played 75% of internationals in the last 2 years. There might therefore be a delay in the deal, the same sort of delay we had when we signed Raidi.
cryoman1965 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Or "If I had a Ammar I'd Ammar in the morning I'd Ammar in the evening All over this land" I see we have the song sorted out before he even signs:-)

The issue will be money, the Verts were sniffing around him, Berne told them to wedge up a shedload or f**k off.As Sainté never have any money it ended there. Swiss chairmen eh!!!!!!!!!!
skintsaint Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Might be different scenario now though if he hasnt reported back for training - they could have lowered their demands? All speculation of course.
Window Cleaner Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Might be different scenario now though if he hasnt reported back for training - they could have lowered their demands? All speculation of course. Maybe, but then if that worked everybody would do it wouldn't they. Why Ox could even do it. There is a precedent, Mexes got fed up with Auxerre messing him around and just transferred himself to the AS Rome, contract or no contract. At the end of the various court cases AS Rome had to pay Auxerre 8 million euros plus some sort of damages and compensation and Mexes was banned from playing for about 3 months.
The9 Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Dunno if it's been posted already, but he's on FB : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ammar-Jemal/131548570222248 which also has links to his YouTube Channel and Twitter feed : http://twitter.com/#!/AmmarJemal There's nothing blatantly saying "I'm signing for Saints" btw.
stevy777_x Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Just sent him a message in French. Let's see if he answers...
The Kraken Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Someone has updated his wiki page to say he's signed for us. Yes, I know, it's Wikipedia. About as reliable as, well, something pretty unreliable.
Junior Mullet Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Spoke to my mate in the gym, who is Tunisian and knows Jaidi. Says he is a very good solid defender, quick and has an excellent left foot, kept saying he was very solid but sometimes might be a bit hot-tempered. Says he was very close to signing for Stoke but Stoke were unwilling to pay the money for him. Suggested Stoke may still be in the hunt but felt Jaidi's influence might just tempt him here. Said he reminded him of Jones, the lad who just went to Man Utd. Felt it would be a really good signing if true. After our conversation I was left feeling that Stoke are probably favorites still but lets see......
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 22 July, 2011 Posted 22 July, 2011 Just sent him a message in French. Let's see if he answers... Guess not then?!
LostBoys Posted 23 July, 2011 Posted 23 July, 2011 It's a special time in a man's life when he doesn't have sex for 6 years. no I dont play it
Saint Charlie Posted 23 July, 2011 Posted 23 July, 2011 Adkins on Saints Player strongly hinted there would be another signing very soon so hopefully this guy. Might be there watching today!
