Following on from the drinks & foods freds - what smells do you really like first thing in the morning and which ones turn your stomach?

Probably the smell of fresh bread (or even just toast) is one of mine and although not a great coffee fan the aroma of a nice coffee is pretty damn good as well.

The smell of bacon cooking only appeals if it's later on after a lie in and the thought of a bacon sarney to mop up the previous nights booze is great so long as you aren't cooking it and aren't too hungover!!

On the down side I experienced 2 different ones this week. A few days ago i made a superb Thai Green Curry which had a lot of asparagus in it and the next morning the first wee of the day smelt like stewed cabbage yuk!! Th

The next evening I had a selection of stinky cheeses (including a particularly pungent Reblochon) and in a bottle of red wine induced state of laziness I didn't get around to washing the plates or getting rid of the bits of rind etc and the smell that greeted me from the kitchen was like how I'd imagine a laundray basket fall of 2 week old sweaty socks and a pair of Sue Boyles shreddies after she'd been in the gym working out for 4 hours (highly unlikely I know!!).

Despite the horror of those 2 the worst for me is the smell of somebody lighting up the first cigarette of the day or waking up to an ash tray of fag ends and half finished glasses of booze with a raging hangover the morning after the night befores party!!

THe work toilet after a certain bloke from marketing has taken a sh*t.

The worst one is the sewage works on Thomas Lewis Way.

If the 2nd one is the worst - are we to assume the 1st one is your favourite morning smell:suspicious:

The worst is that of my son's nappy.

The best is when you wake up slightly hungover at the weekend and someone in the house is cooking bacon.

Best - Probably that warm, damp grassy smell on a sunny morning after it has rained over night.

Worst - Probably just the smell of human breath, if you've had the door and windows closed over night. I spent the night on an overnight ferry from Rotterdam once, sharing a tiny cabin with 3 fat sweaty blokes. It was like waking up in one of Michael Moore's socks.

If you wish to assume this, then be my guest. It helps that said sh*tter is also very good looking

At the moment, the worst early morning smell is Southampton City centre.

The best is, of course, the smell of cooking bacon.

I'll go with that one as well.

Worst, my son's socks after coming back wet from cub camp this weekend. He'd put them in the bottom of his rucksack & the whole bag was rank.
