Speculation about new away kit:

Hope it's not any of those mock ups; they're nice enough in their own right but I cannot find anything about them to identify SFC.

The ideal away kit for me is based on the 1976 FA Cup kit. If not that, the old dark blue / light blue Rank Xerox kit. Anything else just disinterests me.

Why does it have to be based on an old one? That's boring IMO.

Most retro kits are plain designs, if there's one thing you can guarantee about "new" designs, which are invariably pointlessly over-graphical, it's that a lot more people will actively dislike them and won't buy them, compared to something that looks classic and harkens back to previous years.

The reasons last season's kit was such a success was that it had a classic, plain, yet still unique look, as well as being the ultimate Saints throwback (and no sponsor). The away shirt had no sponsor, but also no history and looked like a training kit, and no-one's talking about how many sales records it broke because they couldn't shift them.

Had a go, not a fan of it:

I'm loving this. Fits with the rumour I've heard about Black and Yellow and all the 'Buzzing' comments that have been circulated.

I like that, similar to my prediction though I had the black and yellow in the shirt the opposite way.

Barnard mentioned the away kit in one of the latest new items. He said 'fans would be pleasantly surprised' - i think he's referring to the fact that at least one version of our kit for this season still has a sash.

Makes sense - one off anniversary shirt with high profile sash, bit of change going back to the stripes which the main site refer to several times. Kinda fits the club re-introduce the sash design as an away shirt in different colours....

Here's the weird thing, I'm at St Marys and the new grey training tops have what appears to be a yellow sponsor logo with red trim - if it follows that we're only using sponsor logos that are in use elsewhere that doesn't seem to support the idea that the away kit is predominantly yellow.

Seems strange as they could use the White/black home kit badges perfectly well.

Does it matter what colour the logo is? Its black on the home kit, yellow on the training kit, whose to say it wont be red on the away kit?

Lol. Well, they just announced on the tannoy that it's pre-order from 27th July, on-sale date is 4th August.

Also worth noting that the players warming up will show off the socks and shorts a good half hour before the kick off of the Bilbao match.
