Getting up for work routine?

Being a night owl and staying up late I also stay in bed as long as possible in the mornings and seem to be the only one in a group of friends that does this.

I start work at 9:00, my alarm goes off at 7:35 where I have two 20 minute snoozes. I have enough time to leave my house each morning, bathed, well groomed, and fresh for the day ahead with tea and toast also included.

Usually it takes at most 15 minutes to get to work, where I have enough time to make another tea and be sitting at my desk for 9:00.

I get absolutely caned by my friends for my morning routine being so 'last minute' and can’t understand why I don’t get up earlier and enjoy a longer morning before work, but surely I’ve done the same by having a longer evening?

What is your routine for getting up for work, do you prefer a later night or earlier morning?

Later night every time. I'll plan my mornings to the minute in terms of getting ready etc. I couldn't think of anything worse then watching TV or lounging about, it's all time that could be spent in bed.

I am usually able to arrange my signing-on interview every other week for just after lunch on Wednesdays. This is convenient because the Hove dog track opens at 2pm on Wednesdays and is right next door to the job centre.

I tend to sleep in until 2pm most other days. Except for when my mate needs some casual labour on a build he has going. Then it is a ***** getting up early but I get cash to supplement the Jsa and housing I get.

Out of bed 10 seconds later

Teeth and shave and then into gym stuff and off to the gym, arriving at 5am

I get to the office at 7am and then have a shower and breakfast

I can then start work by about 7.30am

Pretty rountine each day

So you get up before you go to bed, have breakfast in the evening and start work 12.5 hours after you arrive at the office??

Wife wakes me up at 6.45

Get the kids up and breakfasted, do the chickens, dog, etc. Kids off to school at 7.45

Wait around for last kid to be picked up to be taken to his special needs school at about 8.35 and then trundle along to the my pit to start work. Usually checked emails between 745 and 830.

School hols is different as have an extra hour in bed.

Work all hours of the day, and like sending my overseas customers emails at 1-2am.

What is this 6am that everyone speaks of?

Wake up at 8:55. Glass of Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice while making cup of tea

In office at 9:00. Check emails, make cup of coffee at 9:10, retire to bathroom at 9:30.

Working from home, the commute is such a ***** across the hallway.

(Oh & GF works 10am - 7pm so no rush for her either)

I'm usually up by 6am - usually on a train by 6.30 to 7 (and pretty full at that time of the morning) - the usually means that sometimes I can't be bothered or don't have to get up that early.

But what really surprises me is how many people are up really really early. I occassionally have to get to LHR, LGW etc really early (for me) which means getting onto the M25 before 5am and it never fails to astonish me how much traffic there is at that time of morning

I don't have a routine because I am field based, so some days I might have to do a 2-hr drive to be on site at 8.30, and other times I may have a survey only half an hour away at 11am.

I'm still pretty crappy at getting up though. I usually set my alarm for about 45 mins before i need to leave in the knowledge I can hit snooze twice and still have time to get a shower and breakfast before I go. But quite often I will have an extra snooze and blame the traffic if I am late getting to site.

I'm definitely a lark and thankfully so are the rest of the family!

up at 6am, out by 6:15am for work at 6:45am

gym, shower, shave and breakfast.

leave work at 3:30pm and see the kids

If I left after 7am the journey time will double, the same for the return leg.

weekends are a bit of a mare with the kids up early, but then there is always the TV or a book to occupy them until 8am.

Alarm goes of at 5

Into the bathroom for the morning ablutions

Get dressed

Downstairs to sort out packed lunch for work

Kick cat out of way as go to sit down to have my bowl of cereal

Check out the news on my mob

leave house at 5.40 to start work at 6.

what do you do that requires you get up at such an un-Godly hour? Even your cat is still sleeping for pities sake! More kitten, being woken so abruptly.

In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.
