Saint-Armstrong Posted 19 July, 2011 Share Posted 19 July, 2011 The Biggest Unveiling of All... ...will be the Markus Liebherr Memorial Flag. The club have confirmed that it can be used, and is ready to be used this Saturday. So if you haven't had a chance to get some tickets yet, what better reason can there be? 2 new kits, 2 top teams, and a great tribute to our late great owner. FWIW I hope we see it against Leeds too, but time will tell. COYR

Marsdinho Posted 19 July, 2011 Share Posted 19 July, 2011 Didn't justmike post here that he was having problems with the design, the ones he showed us were quite bad to be honest. A few people suggested versions of their own, but I don't know if any were taken up. I think the photo of the ted bates (Milan Mandaric) statue might be reference to those dodgy designs......I know my michael jackson picture was !!!! 70's Mike Posted 19 July, 2011 Share Posted 19 July, 2011 Would avoid displaying it against Leeds a bit of southern sun, a few to many pints with the late kick off, receipt for some yorkie to try and do something clever, nothing personal towards our Yorkie's but Leeds on a summer night in the south!!!!!! Nexstar Posted 19 July, 2011 Share Posted 19 July, 2011 Great work Mike. Unfortunately I can't make it this Saturday, but how difficult would it be to have it opened up in the stands in the few minutes before kick-off at each home game? What obstacles would have to be overcome for this to happen?

Jack Posted 19 July, 2011 Share Posted 19 July, 2011 Thought it was an every home game thing. Would be great to have it before kick off for the Leeds game live on sky. This. Many clubs do it before KO with similar sized flags. Would be a shame if it didn't become a regular thing for us too.
NorthamSteve Posted 19 July, 2011 Share Posted 19 July, 2011 We should have this every home game imo. Congrats S-A and well done.
benjii Posted 19 July, 2011 Share Posted 19 July, 2011 Indeed. Well done, and all that, but I wouldn't have bothered donating for a flag that is very rarely unfurled. Can someone involved put our minds at rest?
JustMike Posted 19 July, 2011 Share Posted 19 July, 2011 when i met the Ops chap, he said there were certain issues to overcome if we wanted to bring the flag out for the bigger games, he didnt go into detail but Police permission was one of them. Also, do we really want it every game? Wont it wear a bit thin, so to speak

red&white56 Posted 19 July, 2011 Share Posted 19 July, 2011 (edited) not sure, I was more under the impression it was for the bigger games plus events like the memorial game / all saints day etc I would like us to raise the flag at every home game, this should become a routine part of supporting the Saints at SMS. benjii Posted 19 July, 2011 Share Posted 19 July, 2011 Every league game, certainly. Ok, a League Cup 1st round match against Accrington Stanley (who are they?!) might be a bit of a waste of effort but every league game, yes.

Saint Fan CaM Posted 19 July, 2011 Share Posted 19 July, 2011 I would like us to raise the flag at every home game, this should become a routine part of supporting the Saints at SMS. This. niceandfriendly Posted 20 July, 2011 Share Posted 20 July, 2011 If it's only for one friendly that'll be massively disappointing. The Leeds game, being live on Sky, is the perfect opportunity to show it to the world. Then at subsequent home league games. Also, I'm guessing the memorial cup will be far from a sell out. Would it work with so few fans to hold it up? Ps. Excellent work getting this sorted mike.
ant Posted 20 July, 2011 Share Posted 20 July, 2011 Gutted to be missing the unveiling, but top work JustMike. Hoping that we'll be able to use it now and again throughout the season, but don't think every home match is necessary. Might lose its impact somewhat and sounds like there's a few admin/legal hoops to jump through to get it into the crowd. Agree that it would be great to get it on TV though - surely the club would appreciate that angle?
Golden Balls Posted 20 July, 2011 Share Posted 20 July, 2011 Really does have to be more than this friendly. At a minimum for all the bigger games. I like the idea that it comes out every home league game and becomes part of Saints at SMS
