That's all. So as of 3rd July ML was still the owner of the only share in the company which owns the club. Now, of course ML is sadly deceased so from this latest filing we can safely say that his one share in the company (and therefore ownership of the club) is still working its way through probate by the executors of his will.

Big news to all of us. Pity the Channel 4 programme couldn't have told it like this. I would easily say that given this the ownership of SFC is the most transparent it could possibly be. Most other clubs will show the shareholders as other companies who are owned by other companies in tax havens etc. This Annual Report tells us that there is just one share and it is owned by the late Mr Liebherr who is a human.

** All this data from Annual Return

***EDIT:

The Club is actually owned by 'Southampton Football Club Limited' whose company number is 53301 - as reported on the official site of the club (http://www.saintsfc.co.uk). Doing a companies house check lists that company as having been incorporated on 12th July 1897. This company is wholly owned by DMWSL 613 Ltd.

It is nice to know that the operating company (as opposed to the holding company) has now been a going concern for over 114 years! Makes you proud, doesn't it?

DMWsl16 LImited stands for Dickson Minto WS lawyers .

Yup, well found. So all the other DMWS xxx ltd companies are just for other clients of the law firm and a convenient way for them to catalog their clients' interests.

Blimey, and we have 'discovered' all this in half an hour on the internet. Really shoddy journalism by Channel 4 to insinuate something dodgy in our club's set up.

Yep, and it was a vehicle to transfer the funds from the overseas account to a British based account to ensure transparency in the purchase of the football club.

I'm still of the belief that a sizable ''trust fund'' sits in a UK account for the club to use and for NC to manage how he see's fit.

Correct.

I certainly thought the delivery of the information, reference the passing of Mr Leibherr, was particularly misleading.

Poor jounalism, but adds to the supposed wow factor of the programme.

The way it was presented was that we were setup and purchased by a dead man, which is so poorly researched it beggers belif.

It may not have been the way it was intended to come across, but come on....just a little research please.

and this needed another thread and could not go on the program thread!

In this specific case yes. Purely because not all of our fans are interested in the FA/FL/PL/Agents etc. and their workings/machinations. It might therefore get overseen? Standing out alone it may draw more interest and then interest other fans in that relevant thread?

This is exactly how it came across, we know different of course but others not connected to Southampton will probably now be seeing it that way.

Release the hounds Don Cortese.
