Press conference today.

I have inside information that we are very close to tying up a deal for striker Jeff Gradidge on a recommendation from a former player.

Gradidge has been prolific in the local leagues for the last few seasons and after having a sucessful 2 week trial, it is likely Saints will be completing the deal and holding a press conference at about 1500hrs this afternoon. Im told that there is a small transfer fee of around 50K and he will be on a performance related contract to prove himself.

My source (who can not be revealed) has said he has watched Gradige play a few times in training and can not wait to see him pull on a Saints shirt alongside the likes of Lambert and Barnard, he feels this truly could be the key signing for our season. Only time will tell.

You are joking?. with all respect to Jeff whoever he is, we are looking for players to propel us to the top of the Championship and beyond. Any potential non league player like Martin would be a long term project and would hope there are enough of these coming through our famous academy already. I'm looking for players who will walk straight into the team, we have enough squad players and need to move forward. COYR.

Press conference for a non league player has to be a lie, never heard of him either cant play wessex or VCS otherwise we would of seen him in the echo unless hes a 17/18 year old who suddenly risen up the ranks.

A friend of my mine signed from non league to the league one for peterboro a few years back and then played in the championship so it can be done.

A press conference for signing a non-league player?

More chance of us signing Skacel...

Yes I did wonder about this too. I can't see us having a press conference for such a low key signing that would be odd. I'd understand the reason for a press conference if we'd just signed Maynard for 4 million but for an unheard of before now non-league player, I just don't think so!

however everyone wanted us to spend £2million on a player from swindon who 12 months earlier had been bought from a non leaue club for 50k. Seems like an inexpensive gamble to me and its hardly likely to be NA main transfer target of the pre season.

We wouldn't announce a press conference for a non-league player, which is why the poster is talking a load of crap. (I've never actually heard of the player, and he doesn't appear on any Google searches as someone who actually exists)

Ah, so the first probable appearance of Corp Ho in his ITK Saints fan mode since his big admittance in the Poopey thread

With a alias of Kelly Smunt for his/her name they definitely has a smell of fish about it in more ways than one! Quite an appropriate name for a Pompey fan really isn't it? ;)

The fact that you actually did a google search on him is quite sad.

Yep, was just thinking exactly the same. Signed from Bath City I believe, thrown straight into the first team by Nichol and on his home debut against Liverpool set up Paul Rideout for the first goal in a 4-1 thrashing.

But that doesn't make me any less skeptical about this particular rumour though. Seems like a WUM to me.

Oh I agree this thread is wummery (is that a word?) of the worst kind. I just find it odd that people switch off from players becuase they're non-league/lower division players. Granted most are playing that level for a reason, but their are some great stories of players who have come up from that level and done well. It appeals to me that the club could uncover another non league gem and give him the chance to play championship/PL football.

The best way to get yourself signed by a top club Jeff is to concentrate on your football. It doesn't matter how many people know your name, it's if you can kick a ball that counts.

Best of luck to you in the future though.

It's always a pleasure to take it slightly off topic making the wummery impotent.

Michael Kighty went from Non league (grays) to Championship (wolves) iirc and did very well.
