Kelly Smunt Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 I have inside information that we are very close to tying up a deal for striker Jeff Gradidge on a recommendation from a former player. Gradidge has been prolific in the local leagues for the last few seasons and after having a sucessful 2 week trial, it is likely Saints will be completing the deal and holding a press conference at about 1500hrs this afternoon. Im told that there is a small transfer fee of around 50K and he will be on a performance related contract to prove himself. My source (who can not be revealed) has said he has watched Gradige play a few times in training and can not wait to see him pull on a Saints shirt alongside the likes of Lambert and Barnard, he feels this truly could be the key signing for our season. Only time will tell.
STEVEADAMS Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 You are joking?. with all respect to Jeff whoever he is, we are looking for players to propel us to the top of the Championship and beyond. Any potential non league player like Martin would be a long term project and would hope there are enough of these coming through our famous academy already. I'm looking for players who will walk straight into the team, we have enough squad players and need to move forward. COYR.
Super_Saint Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Seems strange that a member for nearly 5 years, who seldomly posts to come out with this. Anyway sounds like a load of bull to me, never heard of him nor does he fit into our plans. Just delete this rubbish.
ericofarabia Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Utter bollix - we only do press conferences on Fridays - it's the law!!

trousers Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 A press conference for signing a non-league player? More chance of us signing Skacel...
Gingeletiss Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 slower than me! Maybe, but he wasn't on a bike!

sammysaint Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Press conference for a non league player has to be a lie, never heard of him either cant play wessex or VCS otherwise we would of seen him in the echo unless hes a 17/18 year old who suddenly risen up the ranks. A friend of my mine signed from non league to the league one for peterboro a few years back and then played in the championship so it can be done.
Saint J 77 Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 A press conference for signing a non-league player? More chance of us signing Skacel... Yes I did wonder about this too. I can't see us having a press conference for such a low key signing that would be odd. I'd understand the reason for a press conference if we'd just signed Maynard for 4 million but for an unheard of before now non-league player, I just don't think so!
fish fingers Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Excellent signing. Why a press conference surely have him sign on the pitch, even if no-one is there to watch.
Saint Billy Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 The OP's user name does'nt exactly give me confidence that this is legit.....................................thank god!
wild-saint Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 however everyone wanted us to spend £2million on a player from swindon who 12 months earlier had been bought from a non leaue club for 50k. Seems like an inexpensive gamble to me and its hardly likely to be NA main transfer target of the pre season.
S-Clarke Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 We wouldn't announce a press conference for a non-league player, which is why the poster is talking a load of crap. (I've never actually heard of the player, and he doesn't appear on any Google searches as someone who actually exists)
dubai_phil Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Ah, so the first probable appearance of Corp Ho in his ITK Saints fan mode since his big admittance in the Poopey thread
Saint J 77 Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Ah, so the first probable appearance of Corp Ho in his ITK Saints fan mode since his big admittance in the Poopey thread With a alias of Kelly Smunt for his/her name they definitely has a smell of fish about it in more ways than one! Quite an appropriate name for a Pompey fan really isn't it?
Saint-scooby Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 More likely Puncheon has signed an extension.............
miserableoldgit Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 What time is this Press Conference?? I am so excited I can hardly contain myself!!
Window Cleaner Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 What time is this Press Conference?? I am so excited I can hardly contain myself!! Is there actually a press conference set to take place then, I thought it was just an alcohol induced wind up.
Andy Durman Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Note time thread was posted. Guy was obviously out of his tree
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 So someone makes a bad attempt to suggest we're signing them to get a stupid forum discussing their name and some of you buy it? We'll be sealing deals for dune and alpine saint in time for Saturday too. 1.25m each. Play Dune on the right and Alpine in defence.

The9 Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 The fact that you actually did a google search on him is quite sad. Seems like a pretty effective way to debunk a dubious rumour to me.
Sheaf Saint Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 Yep, was just thinking exactly the same. Signed from Bath City I believe, thrown straight into the first team by Nichol and on his home debut against Liverpool set up Paul Rideout for the first goal in a 4-1 thrashing. But that doesn't make me any less skeptical about this particular rumour though. Seems like a WUM to me.

I just find it odd that people switch off from players becuase they're non-league/lower division players. Granted most are playing that level for a reason, but their are some great stories of players who have come up from that level and done well. It appeals to me that the club could uncover another non league gem and give him the chance to play championship/PL football. Edited 18 July, 2011 by doddisalegend
Big_Bald_Si Posted 18 July, 2011 Posted 18 July, 2011 If there was to be a press conference, it's highly likely Mr Sibley would have said so on his Twitter account. As it goes, nothing has been posted since Saturday - so highly unlikely to materialise in my opinion

It doesn't matter how many people know your name, it's if you can kick a ball that counts. Best of luck to you in the future though.

It's always a pleasure to take it slightly off topic making the wummery impotent. Michael Kighty went from Non league (grays) to Championship (wolves) iirc and did very well.
